I would love to see the option supported in ArmA 3. I'm right handed, but a left handed shooter. Since we're getting all of this customization in kits and such, why not have our character get some attention as well?

Squad XML crashes people to desktop?
James2785 replied to Blade89's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Snakedoc - no, didn't even cross my mind. At this point it is definitely worth a shot, as it is consistently crashing our members out of the game. I'll give it a try tomorrow. I posted in another thread about actually creating the .paa see here which is something else I'm having no luck with. I suppose that could be related to the new bitools. maybe. -
How to put a logo or sign on a Vehicle?
James2785 replied to amadieus's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Looking for some help here. I followed the instructions exactly, and when I try to open my file in TexView it throws a generic error saying that it cannot open the file. I've tried the PAA plugin for PS as well, no luck there either. Trying to open that file results in TexView crashing. What gives? I remember wanting to bash my head against a wall two years ago when we made our first one for ArmA, and now I can't remember what the fix was. Thanks -

Why dont you use the ingame voice chat ?
James2785 replied to The_Angry_Canadian's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Because we always end up with someone screaming obscenities or spamming sound over the chat. Do not want. -
Silly question.. How do you know who is in a heli/APC/humvee with you?
James2785 replied to koroush47's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
In Domination, you can go to "show status" and then click on the vehicle tab, and it will list who is in the vehicle with you. If you're playing something else I can't offer much help. -
Why are there literally 0 PVP servers?
James2785 replied to koroush47's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
We've had a very strong following of COOP players for 2 years now. The folks that frequented our ArmA:CO server are back for more in ArmA II. From an administrators perspective, it is easy to set up and run. COOP maps aren't as controlled by time of day as a PvP map. Anyone can join at any time and play the mission. If it's really early (or really late, depending on how you look at it) and you're joining a PvP map by yourself, the odds are against you of getting someone else to play against. These servers cost us, and putting a map up that isn't going to bring in players just doesn't make sense. And I can't get on with that "well if you put it up, they will come play" line, as there are plenty of empty PvP servers that say otherwise... -
We would love to see something like this as well. Something like BF2CC did for BF2 would rock, but something simple to kick or ban from outside of the game would be perfect right now.

$able, We have several members and guests reporting that they are getting kicks for the 'client not responding' issue, but rather than being kicked out to the MP screen, it is crashing their ArmA instance to desktop. Also, this same problem seems to be popping up in mass kicks/crashes from time to time, as in 8 to 10 players will receive the 'client not responding' message and all will crash to desktop from it. We checked our server logs and found that all of these players were being kicked by BE at the same time. I should clarify that we are not overly concerned with the 'client not responding' kick, but the crash to desktop that it seems to be causing. Thanks!

USAFR civil engineer here. I've been in for a few years.

haha, funny that infrared jammers are commonly referred to as a "disco ball" though Nice work on them, and I have to agree with the others, that L model looks great!
-
nope, its spinning clockwise and this is the right direction for HUEY Really? I know that having the trailing edge of the rotor cutting in first probably wouldn't work all that well for creating lift. And this seems to spin counter clockwise... http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=ddAJsxUbBHs *pardon the crude comments on the page, not mine to moderate obviously* I will agree 100% that the rotors are placed correctly on the aircraft, but they aren't spinning right Past that, I love it. Absolutely phenomenal addon and it flies like a dream.

Sdp vehicles final release
James2785 replied to Sudden Death's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Maybe I'm blind, but is this MP compatible, and if so what is the recommended way of placing it into a mission? Thanks -
Nice job on this addon pack, worked great from start to finish. I can't read any of it, but I still got through the install just fine! A few quick questions: Are there plans to add functional gauges to the helos you added? Are there plans to model realistic sounds to them as well? ( and the ever hated question these days ) Are there any plans to release different skins to these models to support the many gaming communities around the world? Thanks!

After a few deaths on our server, I found that the menu option for this addon disappeared entirely. It worked at first ( worked great, very easy to use! ) but then stopped. After it disappeared, I couldn't enter any vehicles or aircraft. Any ideas on this? I've taken it out of my addon folder for now, hopefully you can figure this out because it looks to be a very handy thing to have By the way, radical.ghost, your avatar is from Ghost in the Shell, right? Its too small to read on here, but it looks like one of the images from Stand alone...

Nice, testing it now. I'm sure this will come in handy often

Agreed on that point Hog, I'm excited just to GET the Huey when it is released. Color schemes and markings can wait, being able to fly one that is done up nicely and actually works right is what matters. However, on the point of the nose, I'll quote sparky from a few pages back: That issue was the community being thorough and helping to ensure the accuracy of the model, not the community being a nag and wanting the world in terms of paint jobs and weapons and such. So be careful where you point, as those were valid comments For the HWM folks, excellent job on this and keeping us all updated. The pictures each week have been superb! Our unit can hardly wait to bring these in and start using them

It has it's own combination of physics. Particularly, a combination between a brick and a rock. But it does fly. well, lol, su34 has long way to take off compare to f18 which one can takes off from carriers )) Keep in mind that the F18, when launched off a carrier, is launched with a catapult which shoots it up to the airspeed it needs to take off in a very short space. They are also 'caught' with tailhooks and a barrier ( aircraft arresting system ) when they land. Comparing carrier based aircraft take off and landing to a ground based aircraft is apples and oranges... Check this for the takeoff, you can see the catapult in action here: F/A 18 Carrier Take off And while I couldn't find a video of the carrier based arresting system, here is a still picture of an F18 already caught and on the deck. You can see the cable that it caught drawn out to the tail hook, with several other cables laying on the deck as well AAS I've worked on the ground based versions of these ( Go MAAS! ) and they're pretty slick.

That should be only a support ticket away from being fixed, if you have interest in running the beta patch. With our host, I just send them a ticket asking for it to be added to our control panel, and include a link to download the patch from an official source. An hour or so later and its up and ready to go
-
Fullcontactwar doesn't really care to run beta's when it comes to patches... lots of bad experiences running them on the BF2 side of the community, so we stay away from them in ArmA as well. When it is released as a completed patch you can be sure we'll update. Until then, 1.08 remains!

Problem resolved!

The 15th MEU is currently recruiting to fill open positions! First and foremost - we are NOT the real 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. We are a gaming Unit with a very high view of the Corps, and a very high view on realistic gaming. We gather and play to honor the real Leathernecks who serve. The real 15thMEU can be found at the following site: http://www.usmc.mil/15thmeu/ We play Armed Assault: Combat Operations in all of its forms. Armed Assault is a great combat simulator that is very conducive to the environment we've set here. Armed Assault information can be found at http://www.armedassault.com That being said, we do share more than a few similarities. We're simulating a Marine environment in a virtual world - same ranks, same ideals, same values. Hell, even a few of our members are Marines or are planning to serve in the Corps. They bring their experience to the table to further enhance our Unit. We uphold the Corps Values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Honor: Marines are held to a high standard of the utmost ethical and moral behavior. Honesty and honor are held in great regard. Respect for others is essential. You are expected to act responsibly in a mature and dependable manner. Every Marine is accountable for his or her actions and meeting the highest standard of the Corps. Courage: Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the ability to face fear and overcome it. It is the mental, moral and physical strength ingrained in Marines. It steadies them in times of stress, carries them through every challenge and aids them in facing new and unknown confrontations. Commitment: Commitment is the spirit of determination and dedication found in Marines. It is what impels Marines to serve our country and the Corps. Every aspect of life in the Corps shows commitment, from the high standard of excellence to the vigilances the Marines show for training. Why do we do this? We'd like to think that a member in our unit would take from these and be a better person for it. A better person for the unit and hopefully a better person in life. They will learn what it is work together in team and work towards a common goal. They will learn what the words "determination" and "dedication" mean. They will learn to be dependable, respectful, and respectable. They will earn the right to be called a Marine in the 15th MEU Realism Unit, and they will uphold all that comes with that title so not to tarnish the great name of the Corps and those who serve it. If this sounds like something you're interested in, by all means please register and let us know. But keep in mind, once you take that step and commit to joining, we're going to hold you the same standards we hold every other member. Semper Fidelis ---------- Some history on the 15th MEU ArmA Realism Unit: The Unit was established in April 2007 and has steadily grown from month to month. The 15th came out of the 22nd MEU Realism Clan ( who play the Project Reality mod of BF2 ) and established itself as an active unit that held true to the values of realistic gaming. Many of the unit's members have real world military experience and work to adapt that to the ArmA environment. What you will find in the 15th MEU: * Access to two Armed Assault servers running on Hypernia Dedicated Servers. One public server provides a great place to relax and play and recruit new members. One locked server running 15th MEU specific training maps provides the stomping grounds for realistic training and serious play. * A newly updated Ventrilo 3.0 voice server. * Active members and Staff who work to keep all members and new joins interested and engaged. Weekly unit training events get all elements of the unit together to train. Light Training events throughout the week focus on the individual elements. * A focused and in depth basic training course to acquaint new recruits with the structure of the 15th, SOPs, Chain of Command and basic infantry skills. Once passing basic and earning the rank of Private or Student Naval Aviator, members will be assigned to a Fireteam or flight school for further specialized training. * Opportunities for continued training and advancement. Infantry leadership courses for Fireteam Leaders, Squad Leaders. Officer Training Courses for Enlisted members to train into command roles. Active promotion schedules. * A sharp and professional website with active posting and a handy calendar to keep track of events. A Squad XML roster that is updated diligently, found at http://www.15thmeu.net/squad/squad.xml * Friendly help with training in game, and also with out of game issues. We're here for ya. * And most of all, a fun group to kick back and enjoy a great game with. No crazy requirements or ridiculous mandates for belonging, just some simple courtesies and respect all around. -------- We currently maintain the following positions within the Unit: Infantry Armor Crews Rotary Wing Pilots Fixed Wing Pilots Crew Chiefs Corpsmen Combat Engineers Please check the recruiting page on our site for current openings! In the near future we will be opening Scout Sniper Detachment and Force Recon Platoon. If you are interested in joining please register at our site, found at http://www.15thmeu.net, and submit an application in the "Recruiting" section. Your application will be processed in a timely manner and you will be sent login information for our Ventrilo server and available dates for basic training. We look forward to hearing from you! 15th MEU Realism Unit Command Staff Contact Info Capt R. Savage - Xfire: thehappysavage, savage@15thmeu.net Capt J. Are you reporting some kind of an error? It should be the other way around Sir... If they're at a distance you will hear the round land/hit near you and then hear the report of the weapon. At any rate, the sounds of this pack are really great. Only thing I can think is they could be much louder. I'd like to see some nicer vehicle and aircraft sounds as well, but I'm sure thats on its way

Fastroping Addons Thread
James2785 replied to sakura_chan's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
A decent gust like the wash off the rotor? Its more than enough to lift the aircraft... -
So, its my understanding that these faces will show up in multiplayer even if the other players on the server don't have them saved to their install? Or no? I'm going to pick up that face pack regardless, just want to know if its something that everyone else will see. Great work everyone!
