    ATi Catalyst 9.6 Download

I think I've gotten a pretty big boost from these drivers. Maybe not in terms of framerate, but stuttering and texture/LOD pop-in have both been reduced bigtime. It's actually very playable with everything set to Very High now (not the campaign though, that's still buggered). And the crazy artefacting I was experiencing before has gone as well. Thumbs up from me!
  2. I get the same thing with Catalyst 9.5s, temps are fine. Strange this is, I didn't have any problems with the drivers until I reinstalled them. Trying to find a possible fix for the whole '26fps' thing, I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted in safe mode and ran Driver Cleaner. Reinstalled the 9.5s, and now if I load up the editor and run around Chenarus - within 10 minutes there'll be corruption and artefacts all over the place.
  3. At this point I'm wondering if there's anyone who can load up Manhattan (for consistency's sake) and get anything above 26fps. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was something that affected everyone - whether they know it or not.
  4. I'm running the language patch as a mod, and even with it disabled there doesn't appear to be any difference. It's definitely CPU-related I think. When you find yourself bottlenecked to that 26fps limit, press ESC to the pause menu, and your FPS will suddenly jump to level that it should be at. Your FPS while paused will be directly proportional to your settings and what's currently on screen (ie. much higher if you're looking at the sky). I'm assuming this is because while the game's paused your GPU is still rendering the scene, but all the AI/scripting is on hold, freeing up your CPU. If I open up the editor and wander around an empty Chenarus I'm getting 40-50fps maxed out, in the exact same areas where I'll be limited to 26fps during the campaign (everything set to low).

    Quad core testers are needed

Settings: All Normal (Post-Processing Low) CPU: Intel Q6600 stock (2.4Ghz) RAM: 3GB DDR2 GPU: ATI HD 4870 1GB Listed in test order: 4 cores - 2622.55 1 core - 2554.92 2 cores - 2551.72 3 cores - 2508.04 4 cores - 2527.84 4 cores - 2557.00 Pretty...inconclusive. Results seemed to fluctuate regardless of how many cores were being used. No idea how those results stack up against similarly spec'd machines, but there was a fair bit of stuttering and texture/LOD pop-in throughout.

    problem gtx295

Yep! :o Here's hoping the next patch does something about this.

    problem gtx295

See this: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/show/1770 A lot of people are having the same problem. Try setting all the graphics options as low as they can go and you probably won't see any increase in fps whatsoever. Surely a bug of some sort, because if it's a CPU bottleneck we're looking at some ridiculous system requirements.

    Ordering Huey pilot?

Yeah it's not really explained all that well in game. When you first get in the chopper open up the map and click once and it'll mark the 'unload position'. If it doesn't work or you want to change the destination en route, just open up your map and go back to the support menu. Then hover the cursor over wherever you want to go on the map and select 'Transport (active)' from the menu. You can mark specific pickup locations the same way - say if you're in a forest you can set the pickup location in a clearing which will stop the pilot from getting completely confused once he arrives.
  9. I've ran into the same "limit" as well while playing the campaign. Just tried out the start of the Manhattan mission, and my fps never goes over 26fps regardless of settings. 2fps difference between lowest settings and 50% FR vs. everything 'Very High' and 100% FR: http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/771/arma22009060322265537.jpg http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6339/arma22009060322283246.jpg And just a handful of frames between everything maxed @ 150% FR, and everything low/off at 800x600, 50% FR http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/5571/arma22009060322291057.jpg http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/641/arma22009060322302714.jpg Obviously this screams bottleneck, presumably because of the number of AI units during the campaign, especially the larger missions like Manhattan. I know a stock Q6600 isn't top of the line these days but surely it's not that bad already? Along with the quad-core I've got 3GB RAM and a 4870 1GB.
  10. Hmm. The ArmA2 link on the petergames.de (opposed to petergamesde.nexway.com) homepage ends up at the metaboli buy page for me anyway - 39.99. So I guess I bought it from there.
  11. Well I caved in and ordered from petergames.de (which is apparently the same thing as metaboli?) a couple of hours ago. No sign of a key yet. There's still 4-5 hours left on my download so I'm hoping it'll show up before then.
