JW Custom's response hit the nail on the head but I am wondering about the FPS counter - what is the point since you cannot do anything about your FPS anyway. If you're using it for benchmarking, there are other programs out there as well. What's the big deal about FPS? Oh and the clock? - lmao - WOW

Please "KILL" the occupants of exploding vehicles
Jex =TE= replied to bangtail's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Yeah it always puzzled me in arma that the most dangerous foes were exiting tank crewman with their laser shots - I wondered if their training was that good, why not make your army out of tank crewmen lol -
Is the lastest version 3.70 and if so is anyone else having probs with Bravo team hopping fences? "Sergeant?" "Yes Private?" "We've hit a chain link fence!" "Damn it! Pull back - we'll have to scrub the mission..." ;)
-
I see they all have a value (ID) tagged to them in the map but how do you set them as an objective? I want to add some fuel tanks as an objective to blow up but not sure how to proceed. Is it a simple case of (alive!) 123456? Thanks,

Can a mod move this to the mission editor forum - I couldn't find it earlier lol. thx.

It would seem strange to leave 1.16 as a Beta so will it ever be finished? Thank you.

Yeah I was going to ask the same.

Friends I play with love playing as a team against the AI - in some ways it is more realistic.

Here's how I got ARMA2 to perform smoothly using RAMDISK
Jex =TE= replied to qwertz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Personally I love shit like this but I guess you have to be interested in PC's in the first place. Just the thought of giving it a go sounds great (if a little geeky lol). For all the hassle I had in the past with my PC, nowadays I don't have any problems like I read other people do because I've learned a lot and become experienced. I'd actually just buy the ram to try this out and only because it sounds cool (lol - oxymoron anyone? ;)) -
I think a point may have also been missed - I wonder what the figures will be like in a year compared to other games that are around today? what are we judging games by these days anyway - sales or longevity? When I spend my money I want something I can play with my friends for a long time, not some flash-in-the-pan POS. Someone told me that when GRAW was developed, they had in mind that the game would be played for 45 days. Not sure how true that is but I reckon it's a factor for big game publishers. Don't want too many people playing the same game for 3 years because they may not buy more. I think a test of a game is who's playing it years down the line. Take Falcon 4 for instance - over 10 years old and stil la massive fan base (bring back Microprose :notworthy: ) Almost 100 votes showing 60% not using Xfire for Arma 2
-
I don't see why not - if 200 people vote won't that give us an idea on % of players? Oh and I doubt very much a company would give away that sort of info :)

Stop Stop AI unit. Stopped unit will not be able to move, fire, or change its orientation to follow a watched object. It may still change the stance if deemed appropriate (e.g. under fire). Use disableAI to disable specific AI capabilities. Syntax: Object = effectiveCommander vehicle Parameters: vehicle: Object Return Value: Object http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/effectiveCommander I don't think it is possible with Planes.

I'm not sure you'd want to stop a jet in the air would you? Imagine going on your holidays...

Brilliant post!! It has been a really exciting read. Thanks Qwertz! :) :) As for USB sticks - forget it - the one posted earlier (1st in list) runs.... Speed Rating 15 MB/s (read) 9 MB/s (write) And Qwertz already pointed out your HDD runs around 500mb/s. Again - great post -
Langnasen put yourself in the editor with no AI around and see what FPS you get? If there's no AI about you can factor them out, can't you :)

Grenades need to stop bouncing on water
Jex =TE= replied to laggy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Grenade throwing in arma has always been god awful. Raven Shield has had the best system for me and most realistic. You could guess very accurately where to aim to get the grenade where you wanted it (say though a window) but you weren't always spot on (it's good to miss sometimes). It also had under and over arm throw and arced beautifully. It didn't have a "hold button for more power", you just aimed higher to go further. Totally simple system that doesn't need any more complications and totally fluid for the fast pace of combat. -

If you damage a vehicle so much that the crew have to bail, at least make sure their health is 50% or something to refelct the damage taken? -
LMAO And I find it rather a quaint and relaxing past time that I often enjoy to Bach, a cup of tea and some fresh cucumber sandwhiches. It's a place of wonderous grammar :p

I agree with other posters here that say they want smaller squad based coop missions. Domination and Evo is OK, so is TVT but they lack a certain element that playing cooperatively holds for me. One aspect is the immersion of realism. Take for example a well made mission for 8 players say. The mission is to blow up a fuel dump. Now in TVT the enemy know you are coming but in Coop the AI act as though they have been patrolling that same piece of ground for weeks allowing more immersion from the side of a stealth attack mission say. Couple this together with a good team using good comms and you can almost imagine that you're there. Games like domination are great for just getting in and shooting stuff up but they lack the depth of a good mission. TVT is great for the human factor but seem constrained in their planning or time limits. I also think humans react a lot better in games than they ever would in real life which is why coop against AI usually wins for me. Anyone in interested in gaming with us over at Team Element is always welcome - check out our website :)

Peripherals used. (multiple selections)
Jex =TE= replied to Dead3ye's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I did try using my Momo wheel and pedals once but with the Hotas, keyboard and mouse as well it kinda became a retarded process of desk management (and kind of kills the immerson having to unscrew the wheel so I can use the keyboard agin, etc) -
LOL I only wish the editor was simple. As for boring, considering what you can do with it, I find it fascinating and have spent hours playing with it. The problem is that you start off with trying something simple, then you think "I wonder if I can dio this" - 5 hours later you accomplish that but have another 10 questions. As for your palcement of aircraft - perhaps you aren't familiar with the editor enough?

Probably the single most brain dead decision made for this game. +1 for all points raised here - we need better control.

Idea for Ghillie suit viewing at a distance. Snipers can be spotted TOO easyly.
