I can't for the life of me remember and since Ofpec.com is down at the moment I can't look it up. How do I make a squad start out INSIDE an APC/Helicopter/Plane/Whatever? I remember something about _assignascargo but that's about it...

Retaliation campaign now available in English
Javito1986 replied to theavonlady's topic in USER MISSIONS
Seem to be encountering a bug on the mission "Messenger". Odd because I didn't encounter it the last time I played through the campaign. During the battle to retake Montignac I keep getting court martialed for abandoning my squad. Except I don't... I always stay right behind the CO. This is now the second time it's happened. Used the end mission cheat and am now on my merry way to bomb the hell out of those helicopters, but I figured you all should know about it. -
I set up an East Obelisk, and have an East Forward Observer. But there doesn't appear to be any artillery units available to me. At least they're not under the CoC Unified Artillery category (like they are for the west), and I can't find them anywhere else. Am I missing something here??

Meh, consider yourself lucky. I nearly got shot by a shotgun at close range by some disgruntled farmer after I borrowed his motorcycle. Told him it was for a good purpose as there was an army of baddies not 200 yards away chasing the hell out of me. Did he care? No. Good thing he wasn't a good shot. -
I'm impressed. Great work there.

Units disembarking from apc's when under fire
Javito1986 posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Okay, in the scenario I'm developing I have BAS rebel mechanized & vehicle patrols being attacked by an Apache helicopter plus a few Western troops. Is there a way I can make all my units in the APC's & jeeps quick disembark once they make contact with the west? All my mechanized squads are attached to their BMP's at squad level, except for 2 squads who I used the Load/Transport Unload waypoints for. Similarily my Vehicle patrol, consisting of 3 jeeps, is being shot up by infantry and it takes the rebels inside a LONG time to get out and return fire or run away. Last time we played through I was able to run up with my M60 and shoot all the jeep's occupants after the driver was killed. I imagine the solution is a trigger that disembarks all my infantry once they detect the west. But how can I do it? -
I've been running a search of the CZ and I can't seem to find any Vietnam islands. Are there any besides Ia Trang? It's a great island, don't get me wrong I love the LZ's, but I'm interested in simulating the Vietnam War's other theaters besides Ia Drang. I seem to recall a Mekong Delta island although it's not on the CZ. What's out there in terms of Vietnam locales?? Anything with villages/cities to do a mini-Hue with? Any Asha Valley's?

Well, here's the deal. Creating an SP/MP mission that'll involve some infantry action. As we all know infantry actions generally result in casualties. The protagonist in my mission happens to have a friend working in his squad... say the machine gunner, soldier #2. What I want is, in case #2 is killed, some kind of acknowledgement in the form of the white text on screen saying for example "Johnson was killed!". I tried naming him to soldier1 and setting a getdammage trigger, but after running a test (I shot him in the head) it didn't seem to work. Anyone know how to do this?

Nuts. Ah well. These tanks are awesome so it's all good.

Group members being killed
Javito1986 replied to Javito1986's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Thank you, that works fine. Only trouble is that it does it for every member of the squad when they're killed. Forgive my scripting ignorance, but how can I change that to make it so it only acknowledges ONE of their deaths? Say for instance I name my Machine Gunner, number 2 in my squad, Beavis. Can I change that script so that it says "Beavis was killed!" when my MG gunner is killed only? -
Ahh bumping old threads. I love it. Just downloaded this pack and had a look at the M1A2 Abrams. Nice tank. Notice it has a machine gun ontop which LOOKS like I could reach out, grab, and use to mow down enemy infantry at close ranges. Only trouble is I can't figure out how :-). Please don't tell me this MG up there is just for show because it'll really break my heart...

Yes that oughta be what I'm looking for. Mucho gracias. :-)

I'd like my air support to withdraw after its damage reaches a certain level. Say when it reaches yellow. I don't find it very professional for them to stay in the air shooting until shot down. Which is inevitable with BAS units that fire on the aircraft. Unless there's a way to help the helicopters survive ground fire better? But I don't think that's likely hence why I ask to have them withdrawn. Anybody know how?

Ud_Zablud1 is the sound I was talking about :-) Sorry. -
It's not easy to be sure. The key to survival in Flashpoint is to see the enemy before he sees you. I was just playing a mission where my squad was charged with searching for stragglers in a wide open AO between two forests. Very dangerous work but it has to be done. The trick was to recon the area VERY carefully before making your move. The moment I stopped being careful and started to get cocky we took MG fire in the open and lost 3 men. Whereas later on we got into a firefight with 2 tank crew men, who I'd spotted long before, and won w/ only 1 wounded. Recon carefully, advance from cover to cover, don't stay in the open, etc. I personally am a fan of the 3 second rule. Run for 3 seconds then hide behind cover. Get up, run again, cover, and repeat.

What grabs you most about a campaign/mission?
Javito1986 replied to Ex-RoNiN's topic in USER MISSIONS
I like a measure of realism. I despise suicidal "your squad must capture this entire town with lots of armor". No no no. I like to feel like I'm part of the Army and I'm taking part in a big attack on some town. Or whatever. Mainly I just don't like suicidal attacks. Compare say... the Regina battle in the Retaliation campaign "Clean Up" to the battle in Chapoi in Cold War Crisis "Pathfinder". Pathfinder is a suicidal fight. Clean Up is difficult to be sure, but most definately survivable if you keep your head down. -

Yea, I love that it's all in native Russian as well. I don't even mind the Americans speaking Russian... even though it is funny when one of the CIA officers says "Because of you our grand children will all be speaking Russian!". The subtitles don't bother me at all and they're not a hassle to read in action whatsoever. I also like the fact that after a while you begin to forget you're reading any subtitles and it's almost as though you can understand fluent Russian. Then you turn subtitles off and don't know what the heck anybody is saying. But still. It'd be horrible to have English actors like they did in Red Hammer. -

Question. In the mission "Masquerade" I get into the U.S. Army jeep with my guys and we go driving towards the objective. On both occassions after a minute or two of driving I've gotten the error message "Cannot found sound udsublud 1" (or something like that) and then my jeep exploded. What's up with that? -
I always play Flashpoint using either ECP or FDF mod these days. The trouble with playing via ECP though is that the save game bug is ALWAYS present. Except for a few days ago when miraculously I could load up my saves from past missions and actually play them! Gasp! Ordinarily I just CTD. Currently I'm playing through the Retaliation campaign. Now, yesterday for example I could play Retaliation using ECP just fine. If I took a break during the mission I could come back to the computer a few hours later and reload that mission right back where I started without any trouble. Furthermore if I die during a mission I could Retry or just Load up my last save which in a Single Player mission always causes me to CTD. Now today all the sudden I can't do that again. I was just playing, got killed, went to Retry, and it CTD'd. Hence I'm back to using FDF again so I can save & load my missions properly. The only trouble with FDF is that some of the cutscenes don't load right but that's not a big deal. I'm using 1.96. Does anyone know what the -heck- is going on with this dang bug? Furthermore, is there any update on when it'll be fixed or if it's been fixed already?

The Chain of Command Unified Artillery demo missions all incorporate this. In the Retaliation campaign there's a mission where you do some artillery spotting. Ian Bremmer's FO's Lament. It's not artillery spotting in the tradtional sense, but you do go around & pick targets for the arty. Pretty sure there's more, but these are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

Meh, it's no big deal I was just wondering. This is a phenominal campaign and it's -easily- my new favorite. FDF Campaign being a close second. -

One question. SPOILERS COMING. During the cutscene after the Morton battle NATO bombs the heck out of Everon Airport. Tarkanov gets in his Mi24 and takes off. He's always, but ALWAYS hit by one of the bombs (or -something-), crashes, and dies in the cutscene. The radio and the Notes section of the next mission lead me to believe that this isn't supposed to happen. Is that chopper supposed to survive the cutscene or something? -

I just finished Not a Step Back myself. Very intense. Called in many an artillery strike on the Yank's. Most of the Russians in our position were killed though making for a very sad end cutscene. Took me a few tries though since I kept getting hit by Yank artillery. -

Oh, and I can play just fine with ECP or FDF. Currently I play FDF though because whenever I use ECP that damn save game bug rears its ugly head and I can't reload my missions in case I die. Which, due to the nature of the campaign, happens a lot. -

That's what I thought Antichrist. The trouble is though that in the previous mission I most certainly DID destroy all the enemy helicopters. I specifically remember getting the objective completed sign and all that good stuff. Although now that I think about it I did get shot down on the way home, and used the end mission cheat because I didn't feel like walking all the way up Everon to get home... nuts.
