I've noticed that a number of times during missions and in the campaign, I'm giving orders to AI and they are just not carrying them out. For example, I am on the mission in the campaign where you have to take those two jeeps and clear out three enemy camps, and I'm telling the AI to get in formation, or to move to a certain place and they are just staying still and not doing anything. The icon says "Moving.." but they are just standing there. They won't obey any of my orders. It's very odd. It's also extremely frustrating because that mission is extremely difficult when you don't have all the resources you are supposed to have at your disposal. The position of the camps provides little to no cover, so without the jeeps and with the AI not properly carrying out your orders, the mission is extremely difficult. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

Yeah, kinda seems like quite a big issue considering giving orders to your soldiers is a major part of the game.

How to play CZ/GER version completely in English
Jmaster33 replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Excellent work guys, the English isn't perfect though. It needs to be polished, I wouldn't mind helping you with that if you're interested? -
To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?

My opinions of it are: 1. Excellent graphics, the graphics are a huge improvement and the game looks lovely and runs smoothly. Some of the textures are a bit questionable (such as some of the vehicle interiors) and I've had a few problems with LODs being funny and coming up at the wrong time. Other than that, it's beautiful. 2. Questionable AI, the AI is marginally better than OFP. It's barely noticeable. There are a number of glaring problems in the way AI reacts to situations, the group leader of a squad seems to have a suicidal approach of run in and get shot so the other troops advance and everyone else can shoot them. The AI needs some serious work, it's just not fun. 3. Vehicle control, generally everything here is fantastic. Flight feels a lot more realistic, and people who say OFP's flight model is more realistic than this have obviously never flown anything. Ground vehicles handle realisticly and I can't fault anything here. 4. Campaign and missions, oh dear... a hell of a lot of potential but I do actually wonder if they played through the campaign at all. First mission, game breaking bug where the units just stood around doing nothing. I restarted and completed that mission. Second mission, went smoothly. Third mission, another game breaking bug and a number of things that were supposedly happenening, weren't. Such as the enemy outflanking me. They weren't and I was told that they were. This needs a serious, serious patch. In conclusion, this is just a huge mod for OFP. Don't be expecting a new game, because that's not what this is. It's a prettied up version of OFP that is going to need some serious patching/modding before it's a game worthy of the times. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic game, but it's far from perfect. There are a number of glaring issues that need to be addressed. -
One thing I've noticed is that the AI do not seem to flee in any situation. I placed a squad down, and started mowing them down (slowly) one by one with an M1A1 and all they did was lie there and get shot. They didn't even attempt to get to cover. Another test I did was pit one squad against ten enemy squads, the one squad actually advanced and tried to fight and were killed in a matter of seconds. And to top it off, I did a final test. I placed a single injured soldier, with no ammo on a hill. And then I made about twenty squads worth of enemy soldiers come towards him, he noticed them straight away but he just stood there staring at them and went prone. Eventually, one of the enemy soldiers noticed him and shot him. Seriously, do the AI not retreat or what?

I've just got a hold of the Czech version of the game so if anyone wants me to test anything or try anything out and report back, I'd be happy to do so.
-
Well there needs to be more variation than three dying animations.
-
What is the deal with the blackening of vehicles when they are destroyed? Since when does that happen? Other than that, looks awesome.
-
Ah right. It isn't really noticable I was just messing around with it.
-
Alrighty guys, I found a bug. Go right up to a T72 and throw a grenade at it, I haven't tested with other tanks but it acts as if it's just been hit by something a LOT bigger than a grenade. Give it a go, see if it's just me.

I want to use the FFUR pack with the new ECP, thing is I don't want all the FFUR effects as well all I'm interested in is the unit replacement. How would I go about making it so I don't have all the extra stuff, just the standard replacement of units?
-
Alright that sounds great to me, I'm sure I can live with the standard stuff until then.
-
Nice one, without sounding like a whiny bastard, what timeframe you reckon? Days, weeks, months? Just a vauge estimate. Just so I know whether to bother waiting or just start anyway.
-
Is this new ECP still compatible with the EECP 0.44?
-
I would just use EECP but it uses modern units and I want to stick to the realism of using 1985 units because I want to play through the campaigns again.
-
Well why don't you just ignore it and let them release it when they think it's ready? They aren't going to spend all this hard work on it just to deliberately delay it as long as possible because it's funny, rather than release it and get recognition for thier hard work. Just ignore this thread until it comes out if it's really hurting that much.
-
You've been up for 5 days with no sleep and you feel like you are gonna puke because ECP hasn't been released? It's a game, it's not a cancer-curing drug. Jeez...

I have had my PC for just over a year now and I'm having trouble with it constantly restarting itself. The proccessor is a 3200+ AMD chip, I have a GeForce FX5600 graphics card and 512mb of DDR ram. It seems to restart when I'm playing a game, or have a number of programs such as Photoshop and Media Player open. I'm pretty sure it's not overheating as I have a fair few fans in there and they are all working, plus it's quite cool in my room.. Any ideas on what might be causing this? PS. I realise it's not directly OFP related but it does sometimes restart when OFP is running ;)

I like it, the animations still seem like they could use a tiny bit of polishing though. I'm not an expert so I don't know how hard it is but the only thing I really noticed seemed a bit odd were the stand up and get down commands. They seem a bit robotic and the arm seems to be a bit out of place. Maybe make it move slightly slower and slightly less?
-
How about one that orders half of the team to flank? I don't know if that's possible or not. So like you'd be firing at an enemy then you'd give the signal and the team would split in half and the other half would work thier way around. Just an idea. Dunno if it's possible.
-
I like it yeah, good implementation. Simple and easy to use. Couple of suggestions though: 1. It's been said but animations need a little tweaking, be good if Sanctuary could take a look at them, possibly make a version compatible with his anim pack? 2. With hold fire and open fire, the radio still says it as well so it kind of takes away from the purpose of the hand signal. If there is any way to remove that, that'd be good. 3. Final thing, troops can acknowledge your hand signals when they are 300m in front of you and looking in the opposite direction. Not sure if this is fixable.

*bows down* EDIT: Oooohhh, that stings. Should have seen that one coming, that's harsh. Had me going as well.
-
Now that's impressive, I haven't tried them out but the pictures are nice. This could add something good to OFP with a bit more work.

DXDLL 1.0 (not Geforce MX compatible)
Jmaster33 replied to kegetys's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
So have some sort of optimal settings been discovered for this yet? In terms of the hard light and desaturation effects, and the glare effects etc. -
Very well done job there.
