[OPEN BETA] [SP] bCombat infantry AI Mod
invisibull replied to fabrizio_t's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Just wanted to thank you for bcombat, Fabrizio. It's working well in both SP and MP for me. Best AI i've seen yet in the Arma series. -
Enemy occupation system (eos)
invisibull replied to bangabob's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hi Bob, I have no problem with the reactions of groups I'm engaging. For the most part they do react convincingly when fired upon. It's the groups close-by (sometimes less than 100m away) who are not being directly engaged that fail to respond as they should. This doesn't happen every single time, but it does happen enough to be a bother. -

Hi Naught, When I add your init.sqf code to what I've already got, it's not allowing LEA or UPSMON to run. Could you (or anyone else) take a quick look in the spoiler section and help me with the proper syntax. Thanks a lot. -
Enemy occupation system (eos)
invisibull replied to bangabob's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Bob, I'm still seeing some situations where AI squads are staying in safe or alert mode as friendlies are being cut down in plain view/hearing within 100m from their position. Even pushing all skill settings to 1 they still don't always seem to be aware of what they should be. It really cuts down on the immersion when a group well within 300m should be firing at you but instead walks off as if you aren't there. -

From the EOS readme: "Preferably keep the marker symmetrical and below 500m in size." Maybe that's your issue? -

Great script, and thanks for your hard work. Being a safe distance from advanced user status, could you please tell me exactly what I'd need to do and where I'd need to do it in order to make this script play nicely with Upsmon. And would doing this cause any problems with stability or performance? Thanks again. -

Hi Bob - First of all, thanks for such a useful script. It really makes mission building a lot quicker and easier for me. Having said that, I've noticed a few problems with the AI behavior in 1.95. For one thing, the damage setting doesn't seem to change how much damage is necessary for a kill. I've tried values 1 through 10. Using Redfield's damage and skill tweak to your last version, a multiplier setting of 3 all but guaranteed a kill with a single hit no matter what part of the body. That was exactly what I had been looking for. Also, if I fire on a patrol group of AI, I'm noticing that other nearby groups often don't react at all until they are themselves fired upon no matter how high i set their skill settings. When I say nearby, I'm talking about less than 75 meters in some cases. (That's a real immersion killer for me.) Lastly, when I do engage a group, individual members of the engaged group sometimes seem to lose interest after firing a few shots, often slowly wandering off with their weapons pointing in all sorts of angles. They will even shoot into the ground or in a direction where no enemies exist. I did not see this type of behavior with Redfield's tweak even at much lower skill settings. Incidently, I'm not using any ai skill/behavior altering mods aside from yours. I realize I might just be doing something wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. I look forward to your response. Thanks again. -
UPSMON Updated to ArmaIII

Definitely one of my favs, too. Your efforts are appreciated, Azroul. -
I must say that when factoring in the mods, addons and scripts already available, that Arma 3 is much further along than some seem to think. The issues with hyper-accuracy and hard to kill AI have already been sorted to a certain degree. Check out the EOS thread or message me to see how. Modders (the absolute salt of the earth imo) have already given us really nice sounds, real world and well done weapons as in AK's, M16s, M4s and M249s just to name a few, and a bunch of incredible A3 ready scripts such as UPSMON and EOS, and ALIVE. I'd argue that A3 when compared with A2 in its first few months is far superior in countless ways and there's no reason to think that it won't quickly eclipse A2 completely in short order. Have you not noticed the pace of new mod releases? Having said all that, I totally agree that A3 has some undeniably rough edges, and that it does seem that BIS is perfectly happy to cede a certain amount of its work load to the community. But is that something new? Was it not exactly that way for all the releases right back to OFP? Of course it was. Not to take away from the many valid complaints i've seen here, but I am already enjoying A3 immensely and by every indication, it's just going to get better. Regards, Invisibull

Thanks a bunch, Redfield. As you suggested, it worked perfectly once i increased some of the skill settings a bit. -
Really looking forward to this. Thanks so much for your efforts.

Hello, I'm looking for a few mature guys to do COOP missions with. I'm not real interested in the formality of a clan/squad, though I do definitely appreciate how rewarding and immersive a mission can be when planned and executed seriously. I'm in the U.S., northeast, but will have some plenty of free time for awhile, so those in other timezones shouldn't be discouraged. While not as accomplished in mission building as some I've seen on these forums, I can throw together some fun and challenging co-ops with HALO jumps, extractions, etc using the great DAC and Upsmon scripting addons. If you're interested and are a mature, easy-going adult who appreciates the strategic and tactical sides of Arma2 OA, please feel free to contact me. Regards, Invisibull
