I feel it's a mixture of oil, money, and Russia trying to cut down dissident feelings among former republics. Russia's economy has always been built for war not peace. This is why after the Cold War the system feel apart. No more arms race to compete with. Business needs this war. Russia is also trying to send a message to the former republics. Russia was once the most feared country on earth and now they are pretty much a third world country. Moscow is struggling to hang on to it's past glory as any nation would. It is always politicians who play chess with our lives regardless of what system we live under. When the US said it would help out in the Republic of Georgia, Russia wasn't too happy cause the US is starting to get influence in an area that was totally under Russian control. You can try to pull away from Moscow all you want but be warned. You will be challenged.

Satchel I'm not sure if they will have to gain back any money they spent on this project. The defense department now has virtually unlimited funding. Military advertising is everywhere now. I've even seen some sports teams sponsored by the Army now. Glad to see my tax dollars going to such a good cause More than likely though they'll just squeeze a bit more money out of us tax payers when they need it. It wouldn't surprise me if it did contain spyware though. Most likely for tracking young kids with high scores.

If they were overthrown why would they attack again with NATO right next door? Oh well. It's not like games or even action movies have the best full proof plots I wouldn't be even thinking about this if I had the game now. Can't wait for it to get here

I agree with with Ralph. Now you know how us Americans feel. The cold war is over. Give up the fight. Russia even joined NATO. If people hate you they hate you. Not much you can do to fix that. In time hopefully they won't hate you but there is nothing you can do to fix that now.

I agree, It's just a game. The reason Russia is the bad guys in so many games isn't because of political statements. Not everything means something. Lets look at it this way. What do we look for in a game? Variety in equipment and units. Russia has a large amount of both. Lots of different tanks, planes, units, weapons ... etc. So as a game maker you have to say. We are looking for a possible enemy. One that could actually (this being the key word) pose a threat and that will put up a good fight. One that has many highly trained units, a vast arsenal of weapons, good technology and equipment. It helps if this enemy is somewhat mysterious to our main audience. Who better fits that than Russia? I plain to play Resistance two ways. The first time I will play with the Resistance. The second time around I will betray the Resistance and join Russia. Call me evil but it's just a game

Resistance's north american release date changed
Indychuck replied to theavonlady's topic in NEWS DISCUSSION
I just an email from codemasters today that says June 28th. But the link to order it for the US says July 2nd. So I'll just take the latest date of July 10th. If it gets here before that great. If not no big deal. It'll just give everyone else time to write walkthrough's for me -

All I hope is that BIS has a long and prosperous career developing cutting edge sims for us warheads.<span id='postcolor'> Hehe I agree with that. I think the Czech Republic is quite an interesting place. I first started to get interested in it cause Frank Zappa (my favorite musician) was going to join the government as a cultural adviser. But I don't think Resistance will be the end. I would think (well hoping) that there will be many OFP like based games from BIS. It works well for Red Storm. Just look at Rainbow Six. They are still making games based on that.

Am I the only one that doesn't really like desert combat much? To me there usually isn't much of a fight. I pick enemies off at 300 meters with my M-16 as I just lay there then mission over. I prefer dense foliage combat. You can sneak right up to people and they can sneak up to you.
-
Yeah I ordered mine through Avon cause were I live I usually don't get new games for about a week after they are out. They usually don't have expansion packs. I had to wait 3 weeks for red hammer cause the guy at the store special ordered it for me. And to think I live in the capitol city of my state. Also, you can get banned for an advertisement? I can see if it gets obsessive like posted every day in different forums. Besides shouldn't BIS have to live up to that if we all have to. hehe

Tyler<span id='postcolor'> I agree. My theory is that it was carrying a really heavy load. Combined with heavy gusts of wind, it simply put too much stress on the wings at that low of an attitude.

When you have people stealing models and then telling everyone about stuff like this. How can you expect those people to act with integrity? It's not just on these forums either. You had all these teenagers scrambling to get into the Oxygen club so they can feel cool. Meanwhile you have real mod markers denied one due to limited release. You can list the people that had made any good or just any Oxygen things on one hand. One name that comes to mind at this moment is Kegetys. And you don't see him going around telling everybody he just does it Â
-
I agree Chris. This is just one of the disturbing things I see about the otherwise great OFP mod community. We have people stealing models to get oxygen. People getting a sense of superiority cause they have oxygen and access to forums that others do not have. I thought the limited release was supposed to stop useless and stupid addons. So much for the quality control argument.

Against Hinds afgans used Stingers from USA Â <span id='postcolor'> They wouldn't shoot at it while it was in flight flying around. You can shoot it down when it comes in to land. Just as in OFP they have to hover before they land. This is when you take the shot at the pilot from your rifle. In Vietnam the US lost pilots to snipers in the same manner.
-
Just a point on the Hind cockpits. I don't think they were bulletproof in 1985. I was watching a documentary on the Russian Afghan war and one of the tricks the Afghan's would use was to wait for a helicopter to come in to land and shoot the pilot with a sniper rifle. Now I'm certain shortly after that they changed so I guess it depends on what time BIS is looking to model the hind after. Correction. After reviewing the tape it was the Mi-17 they would take out as it would usually have troops in the back making them able to take out a lot of troops at once. Ok so I made a mistake. But unlike most Americans I can accept that
-
Denoir is right. The primary objective was to stop the ethnic cleansing. They failed terribly in that aspect. They didn't directly engage enough Serb troops in the right manner to stop anything. Even with the withdrawal they burned and destroyed everything that was left. The whole of NATO command stunningly fell flat on their face in this operation as they've done in the Balkans for the most part.

I saw it and I thought it was great. Also about the Gulf War. When I was really young I even bought trading cards of Desert Storm. Yes, that's right trading cards. With pictures of different planes, tanks, guns, vehicles, and people. On the back it gives information about the person or object on the front. Didn't think anything about it but now it disturbs me that somebody made trading cards of a war. I still have them to.
