AC-130 Script for ARMA2 (0.3)
Hatchetforce replied to LurchiDerLurch's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I had the same issue and solved it by placing the ASI line that DerLurch listed in his response to you: this addAction ["Call UAV", "LDL_ac130\Actions\uav_action_map.sqf"]; in the init line of any playable character to whom you want to grant the ability to call a UAV or AC-130. EDITED as issue was solved. -

Quite impressive. I do get some unusual video jittering under ACE 2 that doesn't exist under a normal boot in Arma II. Over all it is a definite boon to the community . An act of genius. Congratulations. -
BlackOps and desert mercs
Hatchetforce replied to schnapsdrosel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
This is something I would like to see BI correct. Suppression should be tied to the use of a suppressor not the ammo since you carry regular 5.56 for a suppressed M4. Same with the MP5SD. You use standard 9mm, not subsonic 9mm. -

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment - Public Beta *2*!
Hatchetforce replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
We have been running ACE2 from home with no issues. Quite remarkable. However, at work we are on a closed, secure network, very capable systems (Falcon MACH V Quad GPU) but with no outside access to the internet. We cannot take these systems out of the building nor can we bring in a system that has been loaded and has run ACE2 from home. Is there a method to enable ACE functionality with no internet access for the systems? Thanks. -
Roger that. Understand that I applaud what has been done. We just need to tweak the specific AI crewmen for automation.

It isn't so much the pilot but rather the detection range on the AI gunners is insufficient to match realistic operating altitudes for the in game AC-130. Those AI gunners require detection ranges that are vastly increased so the AC-130 in game can fly at a sufficient distance from (laterally and vertically) the target.

AC-130s are very supsceptible to ground fire. They do not like to come near an area that even smells of ADA. If a Shilka won't take it down then something is wrong with one or the other. I am not saying they never come into a hot area. They did in Grenada at the Govenor's mansion and they did for us on several occasions in the mideast. But they are not invincible. MANPADs and ADA are a serious threat. The issue is operational altitudes and AI detection. Due to sophisticated sighting systems, actual AC-130 detection of ground targets has a range quite beyond the range of standard AI. Some tweaking will have to be inacted so that the A/C can operate at it's nominal engagement altitude yet still offer realistic capabilities. Currently in game the AC-130 has to fly far too low in order for AI to engage. And flying low means not only susceptibility but also ground relation causes difficulty in target acqusition by human gunners as the targets pass far too rapidly versus realistic operating altitudes where they (targets) can almost seem to stand still.

[Alpha] RTE for ArmA II
Hatchetforce replied to i0n0s's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
This occurs in VBS2. It is solved because that interface in OME and RTE has a right click menu command called Snap to Surface. Perhaps something similar needs to be implemented in the Arma II RTE. -
Flying the camera
Hatchetforce replied to Hatchetforce's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
Thanks for the quick response. I'll give it a shot. -
Hi, We work a great deal in VBS2 but have been experimenting with Arma II. We shoot video in a scenario that ius highly dependent upon proper camera angles. Rather than scripting the camera movement, we prefer to have someone fly the camera using a game controller. This is because we often alter the events on the fly and as such scripted cameras just do not work for us. Normally in VBS2 we spawn an individual with the script: [this] exec "camera.sqs" All they have to do is hit L to remove the crosshair and the screen is interface free. At that point with properly mapped controls they are free to fly about the map and pull video into Adobe PP. The issue in Arma II is that script is causing the screen to pop into an extremely odd scaling - as if were ultra widescreen and very clipped at the top and the bottom. I did a search of the forums on several sites and have found no clues. Any hints on getting this to work correctly?

So far, the vast majority of mods, more than 90-95% work in VBS2 just fine. -

If anyone needs any help on this mod, then PM me. I am a serving SF member - no shit, I am in the gaming community and the guys at BIA such as Gordon and Pete know me. I am the Operator that introduced VBS to the Special Warfare Center here at Ft Bragg, NC which was subsequently purchased for training. BIA came to Ft Bragg and I acquainted them with our community. I have 20 years in this line of work and would like to see these mods handled correctly. Hi Hatchet, I know who you are. Thanks for the offer. (I'm JTF-2 at the gr.net forums. You gave me a bunch of m24 sniper rifle references pictures a while back as well as some info here and there.) Your support is immensely appreciated. You should try out ODA v1.0. No shortage of good people around here. Thanks bugkill and JTF. I DL'ed the mod and loaded it into VBS2. I have AA but we use VBS2. It runs fairly well although it does induce a slight bug into the mix. If there is anything I can do and am able I will assist as I can. Good to see the two of you here. -
