Is this in dev or is BIS working on a mod manager at all?
-
You mean the "Dreamlist". haha! I want this to happen also, but with the API they would also need a security module with it. right? Good hackers would be able to hack in regardless, but a strong encrypted key would be ideal and stop 99.9% of all knobs from making an attempt. Perhaps this is better suited for Linux devs., sine Winblows has a bigger hole than Debbie does Dallas.

"I" agree .. a remote admin client would be IDEAL. Please keep me updated on any advances in this area. "I" also run a dedicated server and am willing to test any new developments. At present we have to edit the ban.txt file, shutdown the server, replace the current ban.txt file and start the server, losing all players that were on the server at the time. All for (1) dipshit knob. (At that point the ID of that player is communicated to 5 other popular ArmA server admins just so they can add the ID and hopefully not have to do the same shutdown when the server is full of players.) @Desertfox Yes you have your opinions, and probably "admin from couch" is a bad choice of words, but everything you say start with "I". Most of us don't care who "I" is, what "I" wants or does for a living. All you say so far is negative, negative, negative. If "I" doesn't want this or need this support, then "I" can move on to the next thread before "I" gets flamed; this thread gets locked and the solution is never provided. PLEASE! -Yes there are other issues more important, but with the API a programmer can put something together .. kinda like OFPwatch ... perhaps an Addon Manager as well as an Admin Tool all-in-one?!?! -If BIS has the time to work on ArmA and Game2 .. then they have time for this. NO? BIS can do more than you think they can. Very talented group of people. -We all payed pretty good money for this and If you think about it ... we are all beta testers and helping to fix these issues. So when a CUSTOMER has a request, it should be granted if it is within reason. -All your issus will be fixed, even if BIS does or doesnt provide an API for a server admin client. -If you are all that you say you are ... then why not support this and help make it happen, so BIS can get busy on the other bugs you find more important?

Oh quit yer cryin. Life itself isn't fair. Get used to it. Just gimme a piece of wire and freak'n knife and Ill kill em all. -Future weapons addons will balance them out if anything, have patience and just play the BLUFOR if ya can't win with the OPFOR weapons. PS: Sounds a little like you got "pwned".

Take a chillpill dude... pfff I don't have problems finding the direction im flying by watching the topside... and I don't think that pilots in reallife will pull out their compass every few seconds/minutes m8... they got instruments like we do in arma.. Yeah I chilled. Wasnt really pissed about it, I just figured I would add some "drama". And no they don't pull out the compass, because most have a GPS screen they can see; right?. , As well as a directional indicator they can see in plain view. (at least the last time I got to ride in a helicopter they did ... back in 1987) You really don't have a problem seeing the white letter directional indicator against the white clouds? What is your trick? Please do share. I love flying and directional navigation is the only issue that I have noticed. I am not a programmer, but I think perhaps coding an option to change the Text colors, or at least that 1 color would be far more simple than adding a GPS to first person, or a static mini-map. no? And playing on that same note ... have you noticed your controls lock up when you bring up the mini-map? Maybe just unfreezing the controls... so you don't lose control function? I dunno the solution, chances are BIS already has it fixed in the next patch. I could just be babbling about something BIS did intentionally to have something to "fix" later.

Thats great news! Since the maker of OFPwatch stated this ... Source Page Perhaps John would be willing to part with the source codes? - OFP Watch was written in C++ by John Hammarberg (Certa). If someone was really good with C# they would just have to modify what is already there to work with ArmA. Afterall, the community LOVES OFPwatch and it's functionality was/is amazing.

How about changing the colors of the directional indicator to BLACK so we can F@!#$% see it?!?!?!?! How about allowing us to use the compass in flight?!?!?! What about a "static" mini-map in the corner? In most cases you can't tell what direction you are flying in and have no choice but to look at the Map or Mini-map every 30 seconds. Then reload and crash into the ground, another plane, a tree, a building, or to DESKTOP. Is there something I/WE can edit to make that directional indicator black? At least. PLEASE It takes most of the fun out of flying. I find myself running or grabbing a vehicle rather than "hastle" with aircraft. Especially in a CTF match, since you could crash and TK your own guys. Nobody likes a knob.

@BergHoff: Do you know what has to be installed on the server to get it to work? Because what is really needed is an app that tells other clients what mods are on the server. Auto download of mods from the server would be a huge "+" (optional or limited dl speeds) Thanks!

Most of us already know about this. I was inquiring about a mod manager. Thanks for the update!

Your gonna shoot yer eye out!

Sounds like a controller assignment issue. Verify your controls are assigned correctly. Game runs smooth as silk with 1.02 patch for me. All controls respond as expected.

Patch 1.02 Released for Czech and German ArmA

@Sickboy Yeah, I suppose an uninstaller would be a bit of a hastle with path, version checking ect. -
Patch 1.02 Released for Czech and German ArmA
HitSqdhaXor replied to GermanPower's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Just read the updates for v1.02. They are fixing a few things I posted int he biki buglist. Makes me feel good that they are listening to us. ** WOW on the speed of these patches from both BIS and Sickboy. Thank You BIS!!! Thank You in advance Sickboy!!! @Sickboy Any chance of a Roll Back function or an Uninstaller for the next 0.09 release? Also... Anyone that is going to do a rollback or a format should backup their registry key. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Metaboli] - It contains your Activation info. -
Thanks for the tip ... I did it and it made no difference in performance. It appears that ArmA is all hardware and very little OS dependant. (at least in my case) Only way it would really help someone would be if they had alot of virii and worms on their system. A fresh reload always clears up the boogies. I need to buy a faster Video/GPU, Mobo, CPU and Max out the memory. Running Specs: Intel 2.4 POS CPU (Intel 3.0 on the way w/a good cooler) 1 GB ram @ 3700 (need to add 1GB eventually) 150GB WD Raptor @ 10K Asus Nvidia N6800/512 (OC'd to 390 core and 315 mem w/16 shaders and 6 vertex) My ArmaMark maxed at 1072.87

I am sorry. You are right about the .ini file. Now why does it go corrupt? It was working fine .. or maybe I just Alt-Tab too much to notice it was creating an issue??! Also I have to add Q&A from Leon the Cam2Pan author. Q: Cam2Pan wont register. A: Make sure you have a C: Drive and it is not removeable. Cam2Pan uses the C: Drive to encode the key. Q: What camera do you recommend? A: You should be able to use Cam2Pan with less expensive cameras. Most of the cameras you buy today support 30FPS. You don't heed a high resolution. CIF (160x120) is enough. Q: Are you going to add TrackIR emulation to Cam2Pan? A: NewView is doing TrackIR emulation, and it should work with Cam2Pan. NewView is a free program. - Leon So it looks like this is all the further it goes for $10. Next step is the real deal.

Sorry about that last post ... I was freakin tired as hell and spent the last 2 hours previously loading and unloading stuff trying to pinpoint the problem. I did try your ini file and got the same results. Matter of fact I got an even bigger error since the file you linked appears to be loaded with comas and not periods. I guess the comas are a foreign thing and I need to change them to periods. Point blank though ... if it is the .dll file that is causing the issue, I cant see how an .ini file causes an issue if the application isn't even open to load it. Are you saying that the .dll file acesses the ArmA.ini file when windows starts? Now that is freakin retarded if so.... Well I am gonna test some more while I snack a bit on my headphones. EDIT: Ok I was wrong. I am sorry. I converted all the comas to periods and it is working. It was the .ini file causing the issue. [[ Eating headphones now ]] mmmmmmmmmmm.......
-
Ignorance is bliss. Edit: I guess I got on the wrong bus when I was young. I am 101% certain it is the .dll file and not the .ini The .ini is a list of parameters when the actual application launches. The .dll is a list of instructions for the application and tells it how to behave. Seriously, ... if you find it to be the .ini file ... I will eat my headphones.
-
I am not repeating myself. You go read the other thread. PS: Your ini file is bad BTW. "Error: Floating Point 46754265.432687 is invalid."
-
No that is not the issue. An .ini file is a list of parameters only. My Cam2Pan and NewView function as expected. The problem occurs even when NewView is NOT open/running. - NPclient.dll gets loaded at startup via registry and creates a keyboard initialization problem with Armed Assault. Nothing more - Nothing Less. Later!
-
We found a small issue with using NewView. - Anyone that uses NewView has to Alt-Tab out of the game and then go back in to get their keyboard to work. Solution Link Perhaps the Author has a updated version of that .dll?? Maybe a setting not set correctly? .... Another reason to just go buy a TrackIR.

i was wondering why i no longer can use my "search" function in windows explorer.. get some messed up error... damn *coughstar* *coughforce* I am in denile about the SF protection. I don't think it is that and am not interested in another SF flame thread. @ twisted: The only new software I have loaded recently is Cam2Pan and registered that dll for NewView software. Perhaps that .dll for NewView is messing things up? - What about you twisted? have you used NewView recently? :::EDIT::: After hours of BS and Grooling Work .... (haha) It is NOT ArmA causing the issue, it is not SF. It is that FOOKIN file from NewView!!! --------> NPClient.dll Remember doing this? -------------------- There is no DLL file in the current directory. Copy it to the following folder: D:\WINDOWS\system32\ ================================= Remove the file from system32 if you copied there. ================================= If you clicked the [Add Dll to Registry] button you will also need to use Regedit do a search and Delete all references to NaturalPoint. [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2000478354-1604221776-725345543-1003\Software\NaturalPoint] - It stores the path to the NPclient.dll
