I have the same problem. Even deleted the profiles in My Documents completely after I uninstalled. Then reinstalled and still have the same issue. Trying more stuff now... Did a clean wipe this time around. I nuked all the registry entries, and even the Metaboli Serial Activation reg entry. Tried changing Keyboards also USB & PS2 have same issue.

OC that Nvidia Card! Nvidia Overclocking Guide * Be careful not to overheat or fry your card though! Also for Nvidia 6800 AGP card users ... You can unlock Pixel and Vertex shaders. - I think Nvidia locks these so they can get more money out of a single chip selling them as GT's etc. I am currently running an Nvidia 6800 with 4 unlocked Pixel shaders and 1 vertex. It made a very noticeable difference in performance, and was well worth the hastle. Increase was ~10fps and images look more crisp. Then I loaded up NGO's optimized forceware driver (93.81) and that seemed to help with IO without decreasing fps. Driver Link: NGO Optimized Nvidia Driver v93.81

You could make one if you have Photoshop or a good image editor? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Qwerty.svg#file

I am not out to ditch this solution, but I think that others should know that this solution is not as "ideal" as a TrackIR. Edit: After playing with the setting a bit and making some adjustments, I got it working as good as I can. It is acceptable if you set everything up right, otherwise it gets annoying and just frustrates you to the point of not using it. * Check to make sure the NewView folder and contents aren't set to Read-Only, especially the .ini files until after you have made all your adjustments. ------------------- From my previous post: "it doesn't stay locked on your nose, and drifts off center while in game." Update: That last tip to have it "Center (without return)" made it work for me and fixed this issue. Otherwise, I was constantly pressing [CTRL+UP] to re-center and it became more of a annoyance than a feature. "I also noticed a slight performance decrease due to the Cam2Pan streaming video to process facial movements in the background." Update: I am sure this varies from machine to machine, drivers, resources and such play a big factor. I updated to a different webcam driver and this issue seems to have vanished. I am also currently testing another brand of webcam as well. My theory is that the "cheaper" the webcam, the better it will work. (Even the author of the software recommends taking the camera slightly out of focus to increase accuarcy.) TIP: After you get it working (Be sure to launch NewView first, then Cam2Pan and hit start on Cam2Pan.) Start a flying mission in ArmA and just Alt/Tab to adjust the settings in Cam2Pan to your liking.

Ok I am cheap then I guess .... I will eventually get TrackIR when I can afford it, but for now this will have to do. I am gonna try and get this working as soon as I get my reg, since I have a high end 3com webcam that I never use. I will post my results when/if I get it working. Edit: Don't spend the time or the $10 on this if you can afford a TrackIR. Yes, It is cheap and moderately simple to configure. But it doesn't stay locked on your nose, and drifts off center while in game. (This I am sure can be fine tuned again and again.) It also relys on lighting and your shiney nose or LED, but depending on where your PC is ... the lighting changes throughout the day and you will spend more time "tweaking" than actually using it. I also noticed a slight performance decrease due to the Cam2Pan streaming video to process facial movements in the background. (like I need any more "less" performace.) So if you want to try it ... it will cost ya $10 and a ~$40 webcam. That would be $50 towards a TrackIR you won't have later when you realize that this solution really isn't as practical as you thaught it was. Good Luck!

You must shutdown the server to delete missions. It "locks" them after someone connects to the server.
-
This is your main anti-cheat. We can also ban cheaters and post their ID's in a public forum so that other server admins can ban them also. Also ... if someone out there made a good spectate script for ArmA, it would be ALOT easier to catch them as well.

fixing: Totally AWEFULL... absolutly unuseable with AI . AI team don't get out of chopper, or sometime they do , but while chopper is flying @ 30 meter in air . lol. 10th attempt. 7CTD AI working fine on our server .. in fact they seem more more skilled than they did before the deddy app. Not sure what mission you have loaded, but try one that perhaps a "skilled" mission maker has made. BIS: No AI bugs to report yet. All seems to be working as expected. Again .. great job!

Great job! Got it running on the Hit Squad Dedicated. I will report back in a few days.

Trying to keep our dedicated internet server listed .. at times it is ok and often 15-45 minutes later it drops off the Gamespy list and has to be reset to be seen again. - Our dedicated server IP does not block pings. - No hardware or software Firewall. By chance, do I need to add any of these lines to the config?? reportingIP="armedass.ms12.gamespy.com"; reportingIP="armedass.master.gamespy.com"; reportingIP="armedass.available.gamespy.com"; If not ... what do I have to do to keep it listed permanently? - Our Running Server Config - Dedicated Server Version 1.1.0.5094 (German) TIA!
-
Ok .. so coop on a dedicated server is WORTHLESS. I guess we will try to stick to CTF maps until BIS lays out a patch to fix this and the many other dedicated server issues.

Dedicated Server Drops From Gamespy List
HitSqdhaXor replied to HitSqdhaXor's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
This issue appears to be just our server then??? I imagined that this would happen to quite a few more people, guess I was wrong or people aren't bothering with this issue. Just reset the server every hour and walla - no more problem. -
Well I use FireDeamon now and I don't really get much useable information on a crash. Also the "ArmA has enocuntered a problem and needs to close dialog." gets in the way of an automatic service restart on crash. (The Dialogs tab is supposed to detect pop-ups and close them ... still trying to get this right/working. I have it set to close any window that has the "Don't Send" option.) So installing arma.exe as a service will not stop the crashes, in fact it may make them worse and more frequent. Logging usable information is Null at best and only gives the errors that FireDeamon encounters ... your best bet is the Event Viewer and dump files.
-
Back to the Topic .... Where do people need to send the dedicated server dump files? Is BIS interested in this data? Do we send to: support@bis.com? placebo@bis.com? Is there an anon ftp to dump them to? Would BIS like the files compressed? Progress leads to perfection.

I voted "Yes" simply to piss off the people that hate it. No, really I voted YES because of the quality realistic potential this game has. If people really understood the dynamics of this game and how to CREATE missions and camaigns, they would love it even more. Make a mission, get creative and most of all HAVE FUN WITH IT! It is a game and the day you have to use such "training" seriously may be your last. ArmA has a higher approval rating than the current American president.

kk. My loss then. I and many others I am sure prefer a local/independant/non malware launcher. You know dang well there are gonna be some GREAT launchers out there that will READ YOUR MIND and set the server accordingly.
-
Honestly no loss really. -server -config=server.cfg works very well. Also ... Kegegtys has a cool launcher app out that I am sure will be updated and have alot more dedicated server functionality eventually. Oh and get this ... it doesn't need the internet to run! Link to Kegegtys Site Again thanks for the contribution, but I can't run an app that relies on another connection/remote resource to execute.
-
I know the dedicated server has to have Internet ... but this application also executes over the internet every time it is executed. If you could drop that app into an internet independent VB or C app I would be more interested in trying it out and getting it working. Until then ... Thanks, but No thanks.
-
Good attempt but ... Trying to get this app running but all I get is this garble text in my browser, or I get a window that says the application is missing files: (yes I have Netframework and the Installer etc. tested on 2 XP machines) <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> Removed the garble as it messes up the thread Also .. I tried getting into your forums to get more answers, or to get the actual application that I can tun on my local machine and ended up having to register and activate the acct .. but also asked me to post 5 times before getting access to the files ? How very gay is that ? I ALSO GET THE FEELING THAT THIS APPLICATION IS MALWARE SINCE IT HAS TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET TO RUN?!?!?! Thanks anyways, but I am not too cool on the malware or BS internet executed apps. It all just sounds fishy if ya ask me.

Dedicated Server Drops From Gamespy List
HitSqdhaXor replied to HitSqdhaXor's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
Yes .. Remote / Direct Ip works after it stops showing in the Gamespy list in both LAN and Internet. Immediately resetting the server console fixes it. -
VOIP works fine. Just press the caps-lock key and talk. The only people that hear you are the people in your "channel". The problem is there is no way to configure it, or in my case disable it .. at least client side. Setup never ran a configurator and there are no options to adjust anything for it. It is just there and ON all the time for Mic spammers and dip sh!ts to annoy you. Have fun with it! I know I am. If anyone finds a way to disable it .. please at least PM me. TIA!

Dedicated Server Drops From Gamespy List
HitSqdhaXor replied to HitSqdhaXor's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
I just checked our server and it is still showing in the Gamespy list after 9+ hours. [=USA=] Hit Squad Dedicated Server [=USA=] Looks as if the srever has been packed up with players all night as well. - No errors in the server window cache. - No crash or irregular looking messages and clients verify no lag or irradical behavior like desynch etc. Conclusion: The server has been running as expected for 9+ hours. Here is my theory on why servers drop from the Gamespy list .... When a server has an issue with someone trying to load a face.jpg or has a file the server doesn't like, or perhaps a texture in a mission doesn't load correctly, clients CTD, or any error message for that matter... This flips a "switch" in ArmA to stop sending the "Heartbeat" to the Gamespy master server - "armedass.master.gamespy.com". Reason: Gamepsy thinks that your server is having issues, or has had a serious error and does not want to send any more clients to a "broken" server. Does this make sense to anyone that knows more about Gamespy? Placebo? Anyone? Devs? Patch? Fix? Workaround? Help? -
Dedicated Server Drops From Gamespy List
HitSqdhaXor replied to HitSqdhaXor's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
Trying reportingIP="master0.gamespy.com"; Gamespy servers will drop a server if there is no game heartbeat UDP packet, or too many of them? Well cripes ... where do I adjust that at .. lol -
Dear, Complainers It has come to the our attention that you do not like Armed Assault in it's present condition and would like BIS to fix the Net code, 100+ bugs, the CTI map and make the scripts work 100% every time. You are not satisfied with the dedicated server and would like a GUI application that will scan your hard drive, find the game and launch all the settings that you want by reading your mind and also determining what map rotation you want without crashing 100 times an hour. We recommend that until such time when all the bugs are fixed and the net code is finished; that you try to refrain from using your copy of the Armed Assault game; if you have not done so already. DO NOT join any servers or have any fun with the game, as this may lead to more possible complaints and unhappiness. Kind Reguards, The Armed Assault Community - If you are not a complainer and want to have some fun ... join us @ the [=USA=] Hit Squad Dedicated Server [=USA=]

I don't think so ... I am sure Placebo and a lot of people are tired of the complaints and chit-chatter about the bugs. Especially the ones that KNOW what the end result is going to be. Complaining just seems to take away from the ArmA GLORY. I think what people really want is for BIS to officialy say that they ARE going to fix the bugs and issues before the end of the week. lol Anyways, I am done babbling .. back to play'n!!
