    Huge drop of FPS

    For me the worst FPS killer in a forest is the Texture detail in combination with the Shading detail. Im running an AMD 3700+ 2200MHz @ 2860MHz. With my old grafic card (7800gt) with Shading detail "Normal" and Texture detail "very low" i had 34 FPS on a testmission (fixed position, fixed direction of view) in the forest. Changing the Shading detail to "low" or "very low" does not increased the FPS very mutch. It was in proportion to the different grafic result. Changing the Texture detail from "very low" to "low" reduced the FPS to 16 FPS. After upgrading to a 8800gts (500MHz/800MHz @ 600MHz/900MHz) i got 44 FPS on this testmission with Texture detail: Normal, Shading detail: Normal. Sometimes i still have massive FPS drops. Mostly at the north part of the island. Using scopes on weapons like the M24, during looking on trees/bushes, can also result in a massive FPS drop. The vield of view is at its minimum, i can only see a bush or tree, but the FPS are reducing from 60 FPS to 20 FPS.

    Try to switch off VSync in you driver settings. With VSync On and 60 Hz refreshrate you get only 60 HZ or 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, etc. from 60 Hz.

    Here is something i found out. Maybe this is helping you: Every time the server is starting, the server is loading (and/or checking) all missions from the mpmissions folder. If there is only one mission with an error in the "description.ext" the server is crashing at the moment the first player is connecting. Uploading a defect mission, during the server is running, will not crash the server until you start this mission. You can test your missions (and find out the defect ones) offline. Put all missions in your mpmission folder, start a new lokal multiplayer game. If there is one defect mission your ArmA will crash likewise.

    I'm sure. We are running an ArmA dedicated server on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition 64bit. Friends of us are running an ArmA dedicated server on Windows Server 2003 Web Edition 32bit.
  5. There is a big FPS difference between the north- and the south-island grass. These pictures are on the same situation on north Sarani. Left pictures: Original north-island grass. Right pictures: North-island grass replaced by south-island grass.

    Yes it's compatible to Windows Server 2003. 32bit and 64bit.

    Messiah2 is right. It's not the MaxCustomFileSize. If you are using a customfile larger than MaxCustomFileSize, the message will be something like this: "to big customfile 98.000 > 64.000"

    Changing to map when flying

    Since my ArmA crashed some hours ago i can switch from game to map to game without delay. I don't see any change for the worse in gamplay, graphics or frames in regular singleplayer and multiplayer. On the last campain mission you can see the "ingame" textures loading on the first loop switching from one character too the other. Video (6MB)

    Something that I forgot: I built the island, particularly the roads, on Terrain detail "Normal". Thus "Normal" is the best choice for this island. If a map is running on a dedicated server with a different setting you can force the server (for this mission) to "normal" by inserting the following entry to the missions ini.sqs: setTerrainGrid 25

  21. Hi all. I cant manage an ai helicopter flying parallel to a shore. Each time the path between two waypoints is near a shore, the pilot turns to the shore and follows the coastline. It looks like there’s an air route network similar to the streets. I’ve tried SetBehaviour from "Careless" to “Stealth†and SetCombatMode "BLUE" disableAI "Move" disableAI "TARGET" disableAI "AUTOTARGET" without success. Any ideas? ____ Hein
