I played arma with ACE mod, it was improvement but i wouldn't say a huge one.
-
I wouldn't say its because they don't care its more because its bloody hard, games that really acheive realism do so by focusing on only one thing, eg falcon 4/blackshark/steal beasts etc.
-
If you target a tank with bombs it does not just tell you when to drop, the bomb will actually be guided, hell you can drop without the lock diamond and still hit most of the time on approach.
-
Who said they have little teamwork? I used to play UT competitively for example, in game mode like CTF there was extensive amounts of teamwork, you could not possibly hope win otherwise due to the CTF game mechanics, you had to cover and escort each other, while solo DM mode there would obviously be none. Teamwork in realistic games only occurs under the same conditions as unrealistic ones, when they are necessary due to game mechanics. You need each others cover in every team game from UT to WoW, hell its even more relevant in unrealistic games due to the low lethality level giving opponents time to react.
-
Team play does not come from realism tho, you can model everything to 100% realism it will not result in any more team play potential and unreal tournament since ones life is never at stake. Teamplay in most cases is a function of game mechanics, like a medic system or a class/role/ability system.
-
You should probly play more tf2 then, theres teamplay every game just by the simply fact of people using their classes in the way intended. Any sort of wounding system that results in you going back into the fight is unrealistic, so why try and make it super complicated, if you don't want people getting back to 100% health on the field don't include any medics and chuck a medic tent at your base or where ever simple.

Bugs: Gun Launched ATGMs - BMP3/t90 do not function they are more like a bullet than a missile. BTR90 ATGM: Flies straight up into the sky around about 2km. -
Movement is so sluggish in all BIS games, WHY?
Hell_Toupee replied to Dreepa's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Yea im pretty sure thats mouse smoothing lower FPS lower sample rate results in small movements of mouse discarded, many games this is optional feature I always turned it off. Its not about speed its about precision, precision is what those other "shitty" FPS's do better, its not something you should need to learn assuming you know how to walk already, but should feel natural and precise like our own movements IRL. -
Yea and what happens when the vehicle is swerving all over the place whole remembering of the direction you are facing does not cut it. Any more of what n00bs?
-
Actually they do, their training is for using the instruments provided, not using the force to work out the way the vehicles facing.

more accurate while standing than crouching?!
Hell_Toupee replied to topeira's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
its a bit awkward when moving crouched, animation could be better tho. -
Only Electro optical systems tho will detect manpads, and their not on every western helicopter. Usage should still be for preemptive flare usage.
-
Most western helicopters do not have the sensors to detect manpad launches, the aircraft that do only have coverage across the rear. Western AC tho also have IR-Jammers like the mi-24 however these only have limited effectiveness vs newer generations of manpads.
-
Theres systems that can detect incoming missiles, however they are rare for helicopters usually only have limited coverage, the newer IR systems are still in development.
-
Well they cannot really be spoofed anymore, since they no longer just home in on the strongest heat source they use the IR image of the target, flares are used to make it hard to get a lock on the aircraft, manpad operator cannot tell if hes locked on a flare or aircraft, flares must be proactively used tho.
