    I am playing on a dedicated server except I can't play any of the beta 5 versions of rts when connecting to a ded serv. I can play them fine on my box but when I try to load a b5 at the server from a connected client it kicks me back to the map selection screen. B3 or B4 maps work fine. Anyone know what gives here?

    What kind of bandwidth is necesary to host a RTS server? What procesor sped is necesary to run a server? Is the AI overhead on the server box or the clients conected to it? Why wil my keyboard not type similiar characters twice. :o

    Found another bug, this one is a show stopper so work is needed. Twice while playing with four players this weekend we had the second soviet commander not respawn after crashing in a helicopter. Both incidents were identical in that the second commander crashed and he was left under the helicopter never to respawn. This happened on Nagova and on Acropolis. I think but I'm not sure the helo was a Blackhawk in each incident. We played RTS for about twelve hours this weekend and overall it's very impressive that it works as well as it does. There was one other issue that was quite annoying and I don't think this is an RTS issue but more of a OFP thing. What would happen is you could command men to move to a location somewere and another soldier would call them back to formation. To illustrate lets say 6,7,8 moved to GG62. Sometimes, and I was never able to determine what caused this, but sometimes 3 or 5 or 2 at AA33, not specific, would be calling them to return to formation so as soon as 6,7,8 got to the move location I commanded they would immediately try to get back to 3 or 5 or 2. One way I found to stop this from occuring is to give a stop order(1,6) to 3 or 5 or 2 and they would stop calling 6,7,8 back to formation. ? Suggestions: Expand the area a vehicle must be in to be loaded on a chopper. Allow construction truck to be transported via helo.

    Think I may have found a minor bug. I use my soldiers to operate the buildings by selecting soldier and moving him next to the building and then issue the command key 6 to pull up build screen. This works great while out in the field except for the tank building. My men get confused after giving the command to pull up build screen and get stuck in a loop and just run in and out of the building. This is on the US side for sure but I'm not sure for the Soviet. I think it has to do with the particular building, maybe changing the building thats used to represent the armor building will fix it.

    First thing is VERY COOL!!! GREAT IDEA!!! GREAT WORK!!! Second thing is I only just now picked myself off the floor laughing at the pick of the tide coming in on your base, too funny. Now I feel silly, is there actually tide action in OFP? Questions: Have not played except by myself so some questions may be blind. Are there building building limits? Seems like it would be difficult to locate all of your opponents buildings and destroy for victory. Only one MCU??? Need to be able to build another. Costly but have ability. Seems loss of MCU is too devastating. What is the waypoint function for in *Mission Control*? How do you make AI pilot land helo? Ideas: Start troops as rookies then buy upgrade to improve skills. Still have option to buy both or individual buildings are upgraded to spawn vets only. Should add flavor to strategy ala soviet vs. us doctrine. Had more now I can't think of them, be back.

    1.90 patch and cdrom

    I have three different CDROMS in my machine, a CD, a CDRW and a DVD. The CD is the fastest of the three and that's where I install software from and run game CD's. After patching with 1.90 the game now looks to the DVD for the game CD. Anyway to change this back to the CD? Oops! Almost forgot I have WinXPpro.

    Well I have tried everything I can think of and it's got to be a OFP thing because I don't have this problem in any other directx game. It's really going to suck if I buy Resistance and it doesn't fix the problem. I really don't think it's a graphics problem at this point. At least now my graphics settings are tweaked for this game. Before I started this the worst frame I would get would be around 15 when looking at forest. Now its 25-35. Thanks Mister Frag I think the biggest boost came when I set frame slider in ofp to far left and video quality to the far right. Go figure. Actually changing to HWTL bumped it up also. Very nice when it's running.

    Has anything been done to alleviate the stutter problems in the release of Resistance. I have come accross some posts about FADE. Is stutter part of fade because sometimes the stutter becomes so bad (every five seconds) I can't play. I have a dual processor machine and I have set affinity to one cpu and went real time on that cpu for OFP but no change. I have gone through 2 diff sound drivers and 3 diff video drivers and nothing seems to work. I have a tyan dual, amd mp1700's turtle beach santa cruz, ati 8500.

    FAQ fixed both. Curser wiggle in top left corner works for me on the "double cursor" issue. The gamma problem is resolved by adjusting the "Game Gamma" sliders in the ATI properties located under the Color tab. Thanks AVONLADY. Earlier in this thread you posted to look in the FAQ for stutter which I had done awhile back but there was nothing there that worked for me. I currently have no joystick connected and the joystick option in OFP is not enabled. The sound debug slider was already to the left. I have ATI so Nvidia stuff does not apply altough I have been searching for parallels.

    I forgot, in all the time I have spent trying to figure out what the problem is I have noticed a couple of other anomolies. There has always been a horizontal line on the main menu screen between Multiplayer and Options. Well it's gone now, this seemed to coincide with my change to video settings for the Direct3D. The ATI driver has the option to "Application Preference" for both anistropic filtering and Smoothvision. If I left either one of these set to AP then I would get lunging. They are both set at 4x now. Other thing is the windows mouse pointer shows up when I start OFP. I have to alt-tab to DT and then back again to get it to go away. After alt-tabbing to DT when I come back in I have to go to the gamma slider and move it slightly to get the gamma I had before I alt-tabbed. Whats up with that? Mouse and gamma? Should I bother calling support? Past experience has shown this a waste of time.

    Does anyone else experience stutter when running task manager. Obviously you need to be running either 2000 or XP to test this but I get stutter whenever taskmanager polls. I'm just wondering if OFP is overly sensitive or is it an XP thing or my mobo. Seems to me if I give OFP realtime access to one of the cpu's I should not get stutter when TM polls. Again I have a dual Tyan with dual proc. The procs are... I can't remember XP or MP, it's the one that is NOT designed to be multiproc. ready, XP I think. Although they are not designed to be mp ready they still run in the Tyan in a mp configuration. Or do they? Thats the question. So here is the test., all you 2000/XP multiproc users do this simple test. Load taskmanager then start OFP and just watch the main menu movie. Does the screen stutter or what I prefer to call lunging, the screen seems to jump forward as if it literally missed 30 frames. This lunging seems to be a little different than what I would consider stutter. With stutter Fraps actually shows a dramatic drop in frames then races back to normal were as with lunging Fraps doesn't seem to miss a beat.

    Well it wouldn't be the first time that a software company dumped a great thing. Doom/Quake is the only long running series I can think of off the top of my head. And yet I can think of too many that quit after a beautiful think. Longbow, Falcon4, EECH.... Already the compitition is out there building their own OFP. Valve was supposed to be working on a OFP a long time ago but it never materialized. Anyone know the story on that? I think EA has a OFP in the works and doesn't MS have one based on their Close Combat series? I am guessing that we have seen the end of the enclosed shooters but then again the likes of Wolf and MOHAA came out after the wide open expanses of Tribes so maybe there will always be a niche for that sort of mindless blasting.

    Happens with my sants cruz also. It's real bad with the latest 4162 drivers. I went back to 4140's and it's not as bad. Since all cards are having this problem wouldn't it be safe to say it's a DX issue?

    Massive missions

    Well this deserves some discussion although I'm not qualified to say for sure. I would think it's not so much a video question as it is all the AI 'thinking' that has to occur. The computer has to calculate each soldiers response to stimuli. As far as 'allowing' you to put as many things as you like in a mission. The flip side of that question would be, why can't I put as much as I want? If you put a 100 soldiers on the same battlefield you are going to slam the CPU but if you disperse the 100 soldiers all over the island and engage them in smaller battles then things will run much smoother. I suppose it's a question processing power. Two years from now you may be able to have 100 soldiers on the battlefield. But guess what, two years from now we will want to put 200 soldiers on the battlefeild so you will still have to work within the confines of the proc. power. And don't forget your audience may not have the same power as you. Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.

    How about some smoke for those tanks? The tubes are rendered but nothing comes out of them. I can think of a few times were I would have liked to beat a retreat behind a cloud of smoke.
