Tool to easily convert OFP missions to ArmA
Hudson replied to a topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Try sending pennywise a private message. He made a tool for converting OFP missions to Arma. Im not to sure how it works but I know he has one. -
You need a create the actual log file that you plan on logging to. And yes you also need to use the full path to the file. For my server I use <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">-ranking=E:\Games\ArmA\rankings.log FYI the -netlog command works the same way.

Use a hosts.txt file.

Mod-Tools. Will this usher in everything we yearn?

I agree with you there. But I can tell you that with all the added functionality of the tools, even texView, there has to be some beta testing done to the "public release" version of the tools before they are given out. I know its hard being patient knowing all the excellent quality addons we played with in OFP are just a few tweaks away from an import. -

Im only going to touch on this one thing you said because its a bit silly I think. These arnt "elitist" teams. They are made up of volunteers. BIS asked years ago for players to beta test oxygen light, they were made "Mod Makers". About a month ago they asked for volunteers to make CWR, maybe 30 people signed up on the wiki. BIS picked a team from the volunteers to make CWR. I can assure you being on the CWR team I get no special privilages, no warnings removed, no ability to say whatever I want to whoever without consequence, certinaly didnt get a cookie, not even an audience with the grand masters themselves. As for people getting away with a little to much on these boards I agree. And I hope sickboy is right when he says.... Maybe BIS will regain some sense of peace after the US release and will be able to better police the boards or appoint those that are willing to do so.

I own a 8800 GTX so I do know what Im talking about. Ive spent hours on the phone with both BFG and Nvidia and this isnt something Nvidia is going to fix. At least thats what I have been told. So go ahead and "bullocks" the guys at Nvidia, Im just a 8800 GTX user trying to tell you what Ive been told. You wanted a 8800 users opinion, you got one, sorry I didnt tell you what you wanted to hear. If the fog was an nvidia issue why did the last Arma patch fix the fog? ....arma before the beta patch .....arma with the beta patch
-
Your fog issue should have been fixed with the latest arma patch. This isnt something Nvidia can help you with.

Yes, very well here. Only have an ocassional problem in large MP missions. And I must add this game looks amazing on high settings
-
Ive been playing with these drivers for a couple hours and see no change in my frame rate. Ran ArmaMark and get pretty much the same scores as with the 97.92 drivers.
-
He is just a codemasters troll. No seriously, I have a public beta test server running without the mod folder for those having problems finding a server to crash. You can find it at 71.170.120.175.
-
After installing these drivers I loose any options for control of my GPU fan. The automatic fan control is gone and my GPU is getting rather hot. I have a 8800 GTX and it ran in the 120s idle with the 97.92 drivers, with these drivers I idle over 150 and hit 170 in no time playing a game. This is sad because the new drivers actually give me quite a boost to my framerate. I dont know if its the new drivers or maybe some tweak tool like rivatuner or nvTrayTool thats disabling the fan control options but I have reverted to 97.92 for the time being.

Next time your playing and see one working just write down the URL you see in the player info screen. Alt-Tab out and load up the webpage. When the page loads right click on any empty spot and choose "view source". Id be willing to take a look at your xml and make sure its ok. PM a link to your xml addy if you would like.

Yes. Im assuming by different addon you mean custom or user made.

I managed to fix my problem with binMake. In binMakeRules.txt it is looking for Pal2PacE.exe in X:\Finalize. I just copied the tex folder to my x: drive and renamed it finalize. Now all tga textures are converted as should be when viewing with buldozer.
-
I am having an issue with buldozer. When trying to preview a model in buldozer I get a popup window (rundll32.exe) I think is binMake comes up with the following error "X:\Finalize\Pal2PacE.exe returned error -1". I have the tools setup as shown on the wiki but I didnt when I first installed them. When I got the tools I set them up on a X: drive. When that wiki page was finished I moved my folders to the appropriate places. Now when I try to use buldozer I get the above error. I have gone thru my registry changing anything pointing at X: to P: but that didnt seem to help. Does anyone know how this can be fixed without me doing a complete operating system reinstall? Also another little problem. Every time I reboot I loose my drives I made with the DOS subst commands. Is this normal? Do I need to drop the bat file I made into my startup folder so I dont have to run it everytime my computer is rebooted?

Here are a couple of screenshots taken using a 8800GTX. The first screen is version 1.05 build 5136. The second screen is from the beta build 5142. Both shots are at 5000 meter view distance...

I recently switched from a ATi x1900 GT to a BFG 8800GTX-OCE. I also get a 10-15 FPS loss with the new 1.05 patch. I cant really complain because its still running in the high 50s on average. I played online last night with all settings maxed, viewdistance at 2500 1280x1024 and played at 20-30 FPS all night long. I even shot a little movie with fraps while my friend pennywise flew me around sahrani. The only big complaint I have with the new videocard is the fog. The fog is so bad that it makes any scoped weapon useless. The laser designator, gunning in any vehicle with zoomable gunsights, and any scoped weapon are of no use now. I have been reading on some other forums that the fog is a issue with directX reference rastarizer fog table or some hootus to that effect. It appears nvidia dosent want to fess up to it being a glitch with their drivers and blame the software developers, software developers just put the blame back on nvidia.

105 patch demands softwrap re-License WT
Hudson replied to Paco454's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
That was really funny! Seriously, I had to wait a couple minutes to let the laughter stop before replying. It appears Im one of the lucky few who decided to wait on a DVD to be shipped over seas. I cant even imagine the stress and frustration some of you are going thru. After reading this thread I will try to stay away from any temptations of purchasing downloadable content. DRM is not for me! -
No, blackdog would want the credit and associated warning block/PR that comes with it. FYI I have been receiving the blackdog fanclub report for over 3 years now, its very good reading actually. On topic: You shouldnt post "private" messages on "public" boards no matter how bad they are.

I looked at the intros again last night, I think they are ok. It looks like what is happening is the lack of roads are slowing the vehicles down during the intros. The mission that this is most appearant on is A01Revenge.Abel. Mission 02Infantry.Abel also has an intro but seems to work alot better untill the end where a hummer takes a long drive down a road. I think once the AI is on roadways then the intros will run correctly.
-
I am seeing some cutscene/intro scripts in the SP missions that dont seem to be running correctly. If I run them in armed assault next to a computer running them in OFP there are alot of differences. Im not a cam scripting wizzard so Im thinking I may need some help with them.

Thats good to hear, I allready started making a CWR_Sounds pbo with all the music, sfx, and environmental sounds. While converting the SP missions from OFP I keep running into errors with music tracks and some sounds. I was gonna ask if it was ok to use them but I see my answer is allready here. I have all the sounds ingame and working it seems. I need more time to test them all and make sure they play. Some of them seem to be very quiet. This may just be my craptastic old soundblaster card though.
