I don\'t know. What\'s fun is fun. And fun can be found regardless of topic.

Perhaps you can use the CAMDestroy command, you can create them using CAMCreate....

I was in LAN multiplayer when I suddenly heard a voice in my headset. "OK, Got you, don't turn around! Switch to direct speaking and keep your comms turned on so I know you're not using radio. Stand up and shoulder your weapon". Well, Yeah I did. Thought it was kinda cool. Only then found my teammates had done the same thing and that that bozo had used Global channel instead of standing behind me with direct speaking. DUH! A friend of mine was new to the game so I thought I'd show him some of the hardware and took him flying using the Cobra. He was gunner and I was pilot. I landed the chopper and wanted him to see the jeep (+MG, of course). The chopper started to slide towards the water and he started to yell at me from accross the living room. He frantically pressed every button and fired some FFARS and 30mm, but eventually ended up in the wet blue sea. To fly chopper with wingmen is a risky business. Especially if your speed is like -20 or something (while reading a map). The sound kinda gives them away but it does seem that they are ramming you intentionally. Nowadays, I allways auto-hover when holding station as formation leader.

The strangest thing happened to me while playing that mission. From the retry position at the 2nd base you can run straight to the hind and climb aboard. I did this and flew way south and hoped to find the base. Yes, I found the base but no friendly units. I landed in the base and exited the chopper in case you had to be on foot. But no, nothing happened. I tried to reenter the hind, but found I could not. I walked back and forward for a while then started to strafe. I have never been so startled playing this game! In the first window, a russian face was staring empty ahead. Somehow I had been allowed to enter the hind simultaneously with a ruski guy. And now that he was sitting there, I could not enter the d*amn chopper... On the south end of the island... probably WAY past any triggers to bring the action further... I restarted.

Actually, I read on a site that you should backup the players dirs and uninstall, reinstall and install patch. For european version, uninstall, install, patch 1.20 and THEN patch 1.30. Haven't tried it yet.

Well, you said you would be able to get it yourself without help. Just for arguments sake. Say that Pete and I were playing you CTF. How would you break the cycle. * You come to our base. Nobody there. * You take the flag, boom! * By the time you respawn and make any significant progress towards the base, a new charge has been set. How can you possibly break that cycle? Stop answering by just saying "Because I am SOOO good!". Still you can't disarm it, still you can't prevent the has-flag-message, still you can't prevent us reading the "has-flag message". Only way I can think of is if you kill us both when our only interest is not to be seen. We are talking veteran mode, of course so you cant just scroll the gunsights over the horizon and hope for a help text. My position will of course be somewhere that allows Pete to place a new charge and Vice versa. And if we also take into account the possibility that the second time you get there the flag is G-O-N-E. And we have taken it and are running full speed away from your base. You cannot possibly catch up unless you throw every caution to the wind and be running sniper bait. And if you DO attempt to catch up, the one of us left in the playing area will start taking the flag. Now, as we have laid out a "tactic" for everyone to see that any newbie can perform, I'd like for you, being the master of tactics, to produce the counter tactics which would enable you to get our flag in 10 minutes. With and without fleeing with the flag. So far, the only tactic I have seen from you, is the one from poker that rhymes with "rough", "enough" and "trough".

Will the next person to support satchel charges near the flag please either answer Pete's mail? A tactic with no countertactic is not playable. And if you believe his description of the situation is extreme, you are accepting the point that such tactics used in the extreme should be frowned upon. I believe that a satchel charge placed on a flag is to despicably take advantage of a definite shortcoming of the game. If you could blow it up with a hand grenade or something, then I would have absolutely no problem with it. It is as valid a tactic as placing a secret trigger on a your CTF map that sets AllowDamage=0 on any unit that enters. Yeah, I know it has been removed, but I consider the two tactics equally "valid". Once is fun, base your gameplay on it, and the match is ruined, and not because you are any good.

If I can be as bold as to sum up. Three problems with the CTF matches: * There is no defence against satchel charges. One should be able to blast it or something without entering its killzone. When firing on it, it should either blow up or be rendered dud. The reason it can be considered a game-killer is because you have to break the trance of being a soldier and face the reality that it is a game with shortcomings that are being exploited to effectively bar the flow of the game. * The flag return countdown should keep counting as long as no enemy carries it. * A real sniper would have to account for bullett flight time. Any man fearing a sniper should only have to zig zag to avoid him. You're still a target when lowering the flag, but that should be accepted as a "critical moment".

A cargo plane would have a function for land based missions. A cargo plane is vulnerable, but when it lands and that tank finally gets out... oohyah! A nicely motivated objective. "When you think the path is clear, summon a cargo plane. If all four cargo planes are shot down, you wont have heavy support." It would have its function in the game. As would landing crafts. As would a marine vessel that actually can take on a tank (or sporting Anti Air facilities for that matter). But be careful of taking it to the "next step" that features marine units whose function is to take out other marine vessels. When that snowball starts rolling..... I personally enjoy the high speed spec-ops feeling of the small but fast marine vessels of today. But that is what they are, and only that. I am not surprised that the campaign did not put you in a firefight from one of these. They do not cut it very well, and we cannot as per today create a landing scenario with any serious hardware. And a good "retreat from the island" scenario should at least have enough seafaring hardware to keep a BMP from just overrunning the whole mess as it can today. Not exactly a "grand scale"/"clash of the titans"-feeling.

I approached a buddy of mine from behind in a LAN game. Instead of shooting him, I turned on direct speaking and told him not to turn and to place his weapon on the shoulder before moving. He did not understand, and answered me while still on the radio channel with his team, so it was not a 100% success, but eventually he went to direct speaking and I could escort him back to our camp. It was awesome. Too bad there is no "drop weapon" facility. For normal playing this could make you run faster or move while injured. It was a drag later on, however, people would go to "global channel" and pretend they were standing behind you on direct speaking. You would stand up, weapon on shoulder, and nobody would be behind you. BUMMER! However, it is quite often that team mates are injured so they can't walk/run. I only wish that a buddy would be able to pick him up and rush him back. I also hope to learn enough scripting to make a MP RTS game like Battlezone out of this. Also, I will try to construct a two side struggle and whenever you are killed, you will stay with a camera lock on the guy who killed you, and not respawn until he is killed. "Kill HIM! He is inside the T80!!!". A player with 3+ frags would then become a valuable assett to his friends. And even a lone soldier could free his entire squad.
