When running 1.12b the game will crash every 10 - 15 minutes (most times sooner) to a sound loop. Teamspeak will continue to function as normal up to 40 seconds after the crash. PC needs a hard reboot. No error messages and no BSOD. Just a sound loop, no video and within a minute the PC reboots (if I don't reboot it first). Mods running are Six_Pack1, ArmAEffects, TrueMods, and FDF Sounds 1.3. I have tried running the beta with and without Mods. PC will still crash to a sound loop. All settings at Low to Normal. Ansio and AA disabled. Game has been uninstalled, reinstalled and patched up. Will still crash as outlined above. One of these installs was on top of a reformatted drive, and fresh install of the OS. Anti-Virus software disabled - same result. Firewall disabled - same result. arma.RPT file last entry states "Array out of Range" PC Specs as follows: All at the latest drivers. ASUS P5WDG2 WS Pro 2 x ATI HD 2600 (makes no difference if running single or in X-Fire PC still crashes to sound loop) Intel Core 2 Duo e6850 @ 3Ghz 4 Gb Corsair DDR2 XMS2 Memory (3Gb seen by XP) Creative Xi-Fi Xtreme Gamer Microsoft XP Home - SP2 No overheating or other anomalies observed. If I play ArmA patched to 1.08 (I also have Queens Gambit installed) I can play all day long with no crashes (only trouble is, all the good servers are running 1.12b with the benefit of VoIP).

My pleasure KC. I hear you. I hope you find the VAC profile a handy start point.

Hi GrassyKnollington, Do you know where I can find an ArmA profile for VAC? Tried PiLfIuS 0.9 Beta but it keep crashing on my rig and I really don't like thoose "pimped" GUI's (not complaining since it's is free, just my opinion). /KC Afternoon KeyKat. You can download a VAC profile for ArmA here: http://www.tacticalsites.com/~buccaneer/ You will find it on Downloads page 3 I like the way VAC is supported. Unlike the free programs, if a user has a good idea to include within the program, he logs in to the support forum and logs his idea. If the idea is a good one, Shift_E (the programs author) usually implements it within a couple of days. Shoot (which I used to use before VAC) has not been updated for about 4 years! And lets face it, $10 (about 5 quid) for a lifetimes licence, on a peace of very good software isn't that bad.
-
Alternative to this program is VAC - Have been using it for 3 years without one single problem. $10 for a lifetime licence and worth every penny. Program: www.dwvac.com Review: http://www.airwarfare.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=644

Improved x360 controller support in patch 1.07
GrassyKnollington replied to dentist guba's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Hello Before I go on. Firstly this is a game for the PC, not the Xbox. Secondly, the Xbox controller has no support, because this is a game for the PC. Maybe you could wait for an Xbox release sometime in the future? Thirdly. I would wait until the 1.08 patch has been released (in about two weeks). Because hopefully, all that shit Xbox code that was introduced in the last two betas has been removed. Thereby giving us Joystick owners all our functionality back. You no doubt will be able to adjust keybinds to your Xbox controller just like you can with any other joystick. But, as I said earlier - I would wait until 1.08 has been released, then have a read of what people think of the new patch. Rgds - Tom -

Most of the games I have display some kind of "artistic licence" on their cover designs. Surely you read at least one review of ArmA before purchase? Especially if you are interested in "fast roping". If none of the reviews mentioned "fast roping" then I think it was a safe bet it wasn't a feature of the game. I think there are one or two threads here in the BIS forums that mention the lack of fast roping. I've never made a purchase based on box art, I must say!

Was there a 1.04?

Hello "Something for the weekend" - Tut, tut, Jack me lad, you sound like me barber! 1.01 > 1.02 > 1.05 > 1.08 (And I thought patching Falcon was bad)! Rgds - Tom

Did you resolve this issue GG? -
Someone keep Plaintiff talking while I fetch the Doc. What on earth has ArmA got to do with paedophillia? If you have nothing decent to say - STFU.

Hello GG What make of video card do you have? (ATI or Nvidia). Not sure if you are aware, but ATI drivers (from 6.8 up to the present ones) have a handle leak. Last month MS released an update to DirectX. Please make sure you are up to date with this too. I've not looked for a female in game character - so can't help you with that one I'm afraid! Edited: Bad grammar -
Hello You can also send them to other positions using the map. Once they get there, they will let you know they have arrived with a "Ready". They will stay in positon quite happily until told to: a. Engage a Target, b. Move to another positon or c. Told to rejoin formation TBH they are best sent off, rather than try to keep up with you ("where are you?" gets rather annoying, especially when you have a 12 man Squad)! Rgds - Tom

And as someone has already pointed out. You can gear up from the back of the 4x4 you start with! There is enough explosives in it to sink the entire island. -
Joystick Sensitivity Adjusments in v1.02 Patch
GrassyKnollington replied to Paco454's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I own the Cougar HOTAS. And it uses the whole range of thrust. I have marked the Throttle (throughout its range) with Slow Ascent, Fast Ascent. Slow Decent, Fast Decent. So it certainly wouldn't appear to be the game code. Roll on the introduction of multi-controller support which is planned for the near future. -

Comming. Awesome   Will it be in this topic or a new one, by the way? Great to hear Frederf. Looking forward to it. P.S. Will you be amending your original pictures to amend your error with the fpm/nose ref?
-
Thats a great read Frederf. Thanks for posting, makes a change from all the whining. Ta very much.

Use google images to print yourself a compass rose off the net (360 degrees). Locate the Objective on the Map (mouse wheel to zoom in/out). Double click the map to give yourself a waypoint. Using the compass rose AND the in game compass (k key) get yourself (and the rest of the team) heading in that direction. You can allocate the in game compass a toggle switch so it will always be on the screen. Go to your keyboard options (one isn't allocated by default). Obviously allow for obstacles, and adjust your bearing as necessary.

Yes. I disagree with you. I find your post to be boring.
