  1. I use a crummy gamepad to fly in arma and the controls go bananas if I have my usb steering wheel plugged in at the same time,it's a shot in the dark but maybe it's another usb device causing the problem.
  2. Good to see you have it all sorted now matey. It's still a good idea to grab Afterburner to monitor your gpu usage/core clock ingame to make sure you're getting the most out of the card's potential at stock speeds.Double check you're getting the performance you paid for. It's great for monitoring temps and memory usage ingame too, very handy.
  3. I picked up a 7870 last week too and had a few performance niggles, after running 2 old school 6 year old nvidia cards the difference with the 7870 was immense but it had a slightly bogged down feel to game play. After checking clock speeds in MSI Afterburner it showed the card fluctuating between 1050mhz and 450mhz on the core during gameplay so the the frames were up and down as was the gpu usage which was mainly around 64%,rarely in the 80's/90's,dipping down to 20% regularly too  I uninstalled the 12.8 drivers and installed just the 12.6 driver (without the CCC and all the other stuff) and bingo! no fluctuating core anymore, once any 3d action is happening it shoots straight up to 1050 mhz and stays there until game over The GPU usage however still hung around at 60-20% until I increased the 'power limit' slider in Afterburner to +20% and hey presto usage is now in the 80's/90's........performance is night and day compared to how it was, settings are now cranked up and it's fantastic. I don't know why the power limit was too low on mine but after reading about other 7870's throttling down because of the TDP limit it was worth a shot. I hope it's as simple for you to get it sorted mate. All the best Almost forgot to mention I'm using Afterburner version 2.2.4 btw ;) Good luck.

    Map Screen Problem

As far as I've been told Raven the only option to change the fov is by changing those 2 fov values in the config profile. Maybe someone with more techy experience might have the answer to the notepad thing,I'd certainly like to know how to sort it too. GLENNY

    Map Screen Problem

Yup it's the FOV change. I tinkered with the 1.12 fov and like you say it puts the cursor 'out of whack' with the note pad and compass etc. Another forum member in the 1.12 troubleshooting thread pointed out this unfortunate side effect if you try to get the good old 1.08 fov back.

    1.12 beta patch troubleshooting thread

Hey thanks Keycat,I've just tried your suggestion and now it feels like it did with the 1.08/1.11 beta patches. You were spot on with your guess matey, when double tapping the "num pad -" key it zoomed out with a fish eye lens type view.....not ideal but its definately alot smoother,I'm sure a bit of tinkering will get it back to normal. I'm just wondering if the fov change is such a good idea. When I fired up 1.12 for the first time I noticed the new fov straightaway but didnt mind it....until I started to move around then my fps appeared to be in the 20's. As Keycat has said it gives the 'illusion' of degraded performance to certain users ,my only concern is if this appears in the final patch it may put off players who don't read these type of forums and find themselves with (illusionary) terrible low frame rates. Lets face it,the fov in Arma wasn't at the top of the list of problems with the community. It seems to be a change that on the surface doesnt appear to be a big deal but could potentially make alot of people who 'aren't in the know' just give up on arma....and none of us want that, out of 10 years of online gaming I've never had such an enjoyable time playing any game as I do ArmA and I would hate to see new peeps not being able to play this great game because of a tweak in the fov that may give them the impression their pcs can't handle it. Cheers again Keycat GLENNY

    1.12 beta patch troubleshooting thread

Hi chaps Just tested it out in single player. I haven't had any major problems previously with any of the patches in terms of performance but 1.12 has really made the game feel like it's stuck in treacle for me. It feels slow and sluggish whilst playing ( I could have sworn it had almost halved my frames) yet when I tested with fraps it reports the same fps I had with 1.08 and all the previous beta patches! I switched back to 1.08 and 1.11 to test and got the same frame rates as usual but both felt twice as fast/smooth compared to 1.12. (I use the begining of the 'destroy the convoy' sp mission to test performance fps wise, frame rate is usually 39-41fps....it feels like 20 with 1.12.) I don't have any add ons installed for the beta btw, it's got me well and truely stumped. Specs: Win XP home +SP2 2 x 7900gto in SLI AMD FX57 Asus A8N32 sli deluxe Nvidia 169.44 Drivers

    Blackhawk campaign

Inkompetent I found the guy patrolling the church will indeed hear you long before you've even got within earshot.....so just slow right down well before the top of the hill (about half way up) and he wont detect you. Switch to ironsight view if you're not already in it and make sure you drop him straightaway when you make visual contact (at this point he usually has his back to you as he continues on his patrol to the left side of the church because you took it slightly slower going up the hill.) @gibbon....loving this campaign so far matey (even with the trigger and rogue ai issues),the atmosphere is something I havent experienced in any other mission/campaign and an inspired choice of add ons too. Well done

    Installing Queen's Gambit

Yeah, had the same problem. I had no shortcut after installing Queens Gambit and only got it working after checking out these forums and found you have to add the '-mod=DBE1' to your arma shortcut. @Ti0n3r....to say 'Probably to keep retards from playing the game' is unfair matey. I don't consider myself a retard and don't find it surprising that Yannara had problems because once QG's installed it's as clear as mud how to play the bloody thing without editing your shortcut (the -mod=DBE1 shortcut thang was never made clear during installation.)
