    Looking for to play coop

    I am also up for some small scale coops, preferrably with CWR mod, but we can also play vanilla or ACE, or any other mod for that matter. I would also like to try coop campaign. On steam I am Geronimo360.

I played ARMA 2 for a long time, mostly modded and today Ive noticed that I have not yet beaten any of the official campaigns :S I want to play them unmodded to avoid conflicts, and Ive seen that the default AI has improved a lot. Can you guys recommend me settings for AI skill and precision, so they don't one shot me from 300m as soon as they see me (Armed Assault style) but they present a threat and I cannot go Rambo on them without them killing me.
  3. What settings for AI skill and precision do you recommend? I use: skillFriendly=0.98500001; skillEnemy=0.98500001; precisionFriendly=0.40000001; precisionEnemy=0.40000001; And it seems OK with regular ARMA but here it seems like AI is not deadly enough. Otherwise great mod, tanks are awesome!

  5. Hi all, i need some help with my combined operations (steam version). I started playing it after a few months, and now it is often freezing, in most cases after map load (i can see the map but I cant move the cursor or do anything). Sometimes it also freezes ingame (just frozen image and I cant do anything). Then I have to kill the process via task manager. It used not to happen on the same system. I have Core2Duo 3ghz, GeForce 9800GT, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 64bit. Thanks!
  6. Is there possibility in this game to make rebolt animation appear after firing each shot? That would greatly increase the look and feel of WW2, where most soldiers carried bolt action rifles.
  7. There is absolutely no need for something like this in a game whose goal is to simulate realism. When played properly you will not shoot into particular enemy soldier, your squad will shoot at enemy squad and it is matter of pure luck who gets the last shot on most enemies. And it is not important for gameplay experience. Unlike games like COD 4, which are fun in their own way, but there your only goal is to kill more enemies and die less. And I dont think those guys with top scores that have played for like 70 hours in last week are better than me in BF2, I just dont have time to play that much. So even there K/D ratio is much more important stat IMO.
  8. Will ACE modify AI engagement ranges, when they have scoped weapons? So far they can be easily picked off from more than 200m in ARMA 2. I think that would make for more interesting COOP firefights.

    ATM public servers lack any kind of organization, so I don't even bother playing on them. If you want to play this game like it's supposed to be played, join up with a team or community (like Tactical Gamer). Or play singleplayer, its much better IMO than playing on public server. With some randomization, when I don't know where they come from, those AI's are more deadly than the average player on public servers ATM. And missions should be made so they limit the equipment available, so the team has to operate in a realistic way to fulfill the objective. Good rule is not to include weapon crates, only ammo, so players must keep their own weapons. And respawn/JiP kills that little trace of organization on public servers. This game is not supposed to be played like Battlefield, it is supposed to be played in a much more realistic way. IMO respawn/JiP don't fit here. When I want to join server for a quick round, I join some COD4 hardcore TDM. This game only needs that suppression feeling from PR. Oh yeah and a WW2 mod :D

    If it is turned off by turning off PP then it is not well implemented, because you want your suppressive fire to make people get down whether or not they have PP on. And many people dont like other things that PP brings, and it causes a performance hit. Just transparent texture mask would do it. Like image that appears when aiming with sniper. And of course much more severe than it is now with PP. And that it is coded to affect AI I don't think why people are defending ARMA when it's not attacked. It is the best game ever, it can defend itself :D EDIT: The reason that I am posting about is is that I dont want 2 different games each with some good feature, I want it all in one game! And ARMA 2 seems already to have most of the stuff that is required to be THE game

    Yes thats what I was talking about! Unless the game alters your control input somehow (which would be bad IMO) this is the only way I see that you can model suppression. I have not been in a war but I got in a pair of stressful situations where I thought my life was in danger, and while I cannot remember details, one thing that I can remember is some kind of tunnel vision and lack of situational awareness, and acting by instinct rather than thinking. I dont think that I would be able to fire off accurate shots that require concentration. Only thing that I've noticed in ARMA2 is that your aim gets a little shaky, like when you run for a while, but doesn't reduce your combat effectiveness much, even if you are sniping. And it doesn't affect AI at all. But there is hope, the game apparently has some detection of bullets hitting around you, and if it can be made that it shows some blurred shader over your screen (like PR) that would be huge step in the right direction.

    Hi! I want to add my opinion to this discussion. For some reason I like ARMA 2 way more and play it much more than PR. Since I am a gun nut, main advantage of ARMA 2 is far superior feeling of shooting firearms. Only game that has better gun behaving is Red Orchestra, but it is different kind of game. And since I love nature, nature in ARMA 2 is far superior to any game. PR forces squad organization better on public servers, but when you play in a community like Tactical Gamer, you will forget what public server is. I bet PR has the same but then they are equal in that field. But one feature that PR has is unmatched by any game, and I have never seen it in any mod for OFP/ARMA. That is suppressive fire. You will get heavy blur when you get under fire, and its intensity depends on caliber and proximity of bullet hits. It makes you highly ineffective to shoot back, which suppressive fire is all about, and why modern infantry tactics revolve around it. You can have arguments like "Ive got balls of steel and I would not get scared by bullets hitting around me, but I would face them and snipe them in the head", and even if you are actual Rambo, this feature takes in consideration average individual, and makes firefights take longer and look more realistic. If some mod (hopefully ACE) can bring this feature to ARMA2, and simulate it for AI, it would make it the ultimate military game. IMO ARMA2 only needs that and some AI fixes to become ultimate in all fields.
