Really busy but would like to see what the community thinks and does with it... Anyone interested in taking over? Got no time and would hate to see it die on my HD!!! And please try and keep the detail the same or i'll whine.... Dont forget to give me updates and I'll tell ya what I planned to show on my map... Lots or urban areas to copy and paste for other town and I could give ya a heads up on the Real Life areas I would like to finish.... And just give Honcho a PM here in the forums.....I dont think he'd ,ind sending you the file.....

@ Honcho.... Did ya get the email yet???? Sent it over last night..... Soon guys soon..... Been checking out the arabia island and it looks nice!!! I wish I had time to finish the rest of the map in a similar fashion....

NOTE: The latest version no longer requires the Salang houses pack or afghan island by crazy soldier... I does however require DMA Libya objects.... If you wait a few days maybe Honcho will post it somewhere for DL.... I dont think the small intro is configured in the config file but ill do my best to update all the required docs, thank yous and such before I send it to honcho...

Thanks for the comments guys... Glad to see some have all ready tried it....and seem to like it. Lot of work went into getting the major intersections corrt from real maps.... It works out to be about half scale to the real city.... Only the airport direction is incorrect to allow the ILS to work... And the highway overpass area ...which is an actual intersection but with no ramps in RL.... The rest is done from maps and google earth... The signs are Pilot's work as well as the ME grace models..so editing them would req his permission... Give me your email addresses guys and i'll send over the newest version with a addons list.....dropped a few for DMA libya models.... ANyway ..dont have much time these days so please be patient......

Sorry guys....been workin crazy hours...map has progressed slowly... Always love to here comments so dont stop posting... Would anyone be sintersetd in finishing the map? I would hate to see it go to waste...

Thanks guys...I appreciate it Ya the maps been on its way for awhile now...but its more of a hobby..than a race to the finish.. @JW....Yep should run for ya but any large missions will kill ya like me... But atleast you'll be able to check it out.... I drop the object quality ingame when near the cemetary...helps quite alot. As for the plots of graves...right now we've got...I guess it would be 25 x 25 M triangles. SO each square is made of two opposing triangles that make the square....allows us to mix em up together.. Dont worry guys...a couple of weeks and you all will be able to test it.

Thanks Manhunter....my lazy ass never seems to get around to posting shots. Everytime I get into the editor to set up a few shots I see something to change and I open up WRPEdit instead. Good for the map...bad for screenies... Thanks for the comments guys.... And dont worry about lag too much.... My Pc is 8yrs old......!!!!! PIII 450mhz 32MB ATI 393 MB of OLD ram.... So people who complain should drop their settings abit.... Everyone wants to play in DXLL or whatever, with complex sky textures etc. If I can make and test it on my old PC... Most people should have no problem.... I think it will take a little rethinking of how ya make missions for OFP. Most island have open terrain...so the AI can be put pretty much anywhere... With this island....most missions wont be large scale oprerations...small teams trying to work their way around the streets with a few well placed enemies....not a bunch of tanks and such running up and down the streets like a flippin dreaded CTF match. Spawning units at certain positions will certainly help this to. Manhunters is right...and I cant beleive what we've been actually able to get awaay with...I originally only hoped to include the old city section of Najaf....then expanded it to the US patrol area that surrounded the town during the seige... then added Al Kufah to the East as well as the airport... !!! Even on my pld PC I expected to stop the project awhile ago...but the Lag turned out to be acceptable to the guys (Manhunter, and Pilot) who tested it. The only place where old Bessy really chugs is the cemetary...very large area with lots of objects. But the guys say they dont have much of a problem. So for some it might not be acceptable others love OFP too much to care.....

Not a flippin post in how many weeks? Anyway, with alot of help from Pilot and Hunter, i'm trying to get together (Finally) another Beta of the map. A few new areas have been added but are not yet complete. The main focus has been filling in the empty areas of the city. The new cemetary addon by Pilot, really adds some realism!!! As ive said before, the maps road network was taken from real maps, only half scale, but if ya google earth Najaf you can see the actual area represented. Give me a couple of days and Pilot may have a few other addons to bump up the realism... The way it looks for ARMA right now....hope it gives ya guys a new map to make missions on...

Dont be so humble...what you've got so far looks sweet!! And dont worry i'm not expecting that you'l implement any thing I say right away....real life has to factor in there somewhere Not sure if there is a way but making sure things fall in order I think would be really helpful in making it more realistic... While ECP is a definate plus, making objects aquire damage in a logical order would make even the ECP effects more realistic. A little bit of code that would allow building only hit with a little damage that has units inside that arent killed in the initial blast to run out of the building would also look good. Kinda like the vehicle scripts in ECP where destroyed vehicles have injured units jump out on fire. If ya dont mind....i'll just keep posting any ideas I have here and maybe they will help in your development....

Great stuff so far ...but can I make a suggestion? Instead of creating an addon made up of bricks would walls sections not be more appropriate? For example take a look at a BIS building...looks like a crumpled piece of crap when destroyed but if you were to say make a wall with the ability to blow the centre and corners off I think that would cover various hits from tanks and such. Try making things like doors, windows, and roof beams. All would have their own death positions and animations....window all smashed missing a few bricks(part of the window "brick") or a beam that falls allowing a section of floor(brick) to fall as well. Doors would be real sweet....add the good ol add action script so that when a player approaches he can use the but of his gun to smash it open....new animation packs may even have a "kick" animation? Set it so that the door swings open fast when kicked or flies off and smashes when hit by large munitions. BAsically break the building down to its structural parts and have each of those detect hits. THis could be really cool with burning scripts! Imagine the Just the roof of a building burning cause the one next door was bombed.... Each component could also affect the other components around it....obviously if a large corner of the building or roof beams are knocked out the roof would come crashing in as well...or building is burning from a tank shell taking out the bottom floor if the damage is not too severe the floor beams would take a while to burn and then...whammo the whole thing colapses.. Hope this little brain fart gave ya some ideas although you guys sound like your working things out just fine.

Thanks guys the little requests for updates are sure welcome. The map is progressing with most work being concentrated on the main city areas. Added a few DMA buildings here and there and I must say thanks to Honcho! Things are looking pretty good. I'll try and post some screens of the areas if I get a chance this weekend. And dont worry about asking cause a post by people other than myself now and then lets me know your still interested. A few pics in the combat photog. section are always welcome as well
