    Us presidential election 2004

Whooo boy.... I read the last few pages of this thread, and it makes me shake my head. I just gotta give props to BillyBob, the only bush supporter posting in this thread (at least in the last few pages). It takes a cool character to keep posting in this sort of intolerant, name-calling atmosphere. It just gives me a warm fuzzy to hear the way you enlightened, tolerant Liberals treat people with diverse views different than your own. It's kinda like the way Liberals are such champions of Free Speech and the First Amendment. Oh, unless they don't like what is being said. In that case, they will have to take legal action to try to shut you up. Yeah, I really think Kerry is going to support my right to dissent, when he is trying to bully a bunch of war heroes out of their freedom of speech. Lets compare Bush vs Kerry on this issue. Bush gets all sorts of attacks thrown at him from all sorts of "independent" 520 groups, such as moveon.org, the media fund, etc. Oh yeah, lets not forget Michael Moore's completely objective "documentary". That wasn't an attack on Bush or anything. And Moore certainly hasn't lied in his past "documentries" right ? So Bush has all this mud thrown his way, and what does he do? Nothing. Now look at Kerry. One (two now) little $200,000 add gets thrown his way, and he is crying "UNFAIR" to the FEC. One little book gets written against him, and he tries to get the publisher to stop printing it. How many books have been written comparing Bush to Hitler? How many of those books has Bush tried to get pulled? The fact of the matter is, the vast majority of the money in these "527" groups goes to support Kerry. All you Bush haters out there are either unaware of that fact, or you choose to ignore it. In case you didn't know, billionaires and corporations contribute to Democrats as well as Republicans. Corporations often contribute money to both sides of the same race. That way, no matter who wins, the corporation still gets its subsidy, or its law, or whatever. edit sp

    Vampires/Undead Pack Beta Release

Woah! Looks great! However, before you go any further: Teacup has sent me an improved dog model, which you should use instead of the older, crappier dog model which is included in this addon. I'll send you the new one if you want. Definately. I liked the idea of them still jumping when they had guns, but admittedly, they don't do it very intelligently. Actually, I think it may be cool (and smarter) if they jumped when they were being shot at. I'll see about putting that in next. Actually, there is a much stronger 'boss' vampire in the pack, but I haven't finished scripting him yet, so he is hidden. Nope. I'm afraid I know absolutely NOTHING about modelling, and I don't want to learn, either. I can script, and kinda do anims and retextures, but I'm completely dependent on others for models.

    Vampires/Undead Pack Beta Release

Well... for the guys you can just use the "setface" command. Not so easy for the girls I'm afraid.... Actually... someone already made it. Can't find any links or pictures now, but its on OFP.info. That's definately possible and will be included as soon as I can get the #$%@ bite animations to work properly.

Can AI be made to NOT eject

There is no such command. Locking the plane, however, will work.

    AI improvement script?

Two good AI scripts: Keycat's Grouplink II Bremmer's Improved AI v1.1 Also useful: AI information sharing Blanco's Groupchain And these are very good, you just have to set them up manually (easy task for any editor): Squad rush/retreat script Simple cover script The best way to make the AI fight better from a defensive position is with good unit placement and the simple cover script, above (see the demo mission for an example). On the offence though, the AI really sucks, even with the AI scripts above. Part of the problem is OFP's engine limitations (lack of microterrain to hide behind). However, with HD weapons on both sides, and scripts such as my squad rush script, you can get some pretty prolonged and exciting battles.

    Searching for list of animations

All of that info can be found at OFPEC's references section: http://www.ofpec.com/editors....chopts= You may not find the exact reference you are thinking of, but all of that info is there.

    Vampires/Undead Pack Beta Release

I'll pop over to the zombie thread and check it out. Actually, Monilith from the Disciples squad is working on a werewolf model.

    Vampires/Undead Pack Beta Release

Yeah, I could look into that. It sounds like Teacup is releasing an updated dog soon, so perhaps I'll talk to him about making an 'attack dog' for it. I'm planning on it. However, I'm having trouble retexturing things, because I seem to be unable to properly convert it to the right format (I get alpha where I don't want it, etc). I guess I'll have to do some searches here... Lol.... I forgot I used that from you guys! Sorry for not asking permission. :P The scripts, however, are totally my own, although obviously some are going to be similar to yours, since they do similar things. Hmm.... no idea what's going on here. If anyone else has this problem, please let me know.

VBS addons for OPF? Sound off.....

Actually, I think the readfile/writefile commands are the most promising. These commands will allow for TREMENDOUS expansion of the MP experience. Aside from the obvious things like keeping server win/lose/kill records etc, these commands would also enable things such as perpetual campaigns and 'massively multiplayer' (I hate that term...) style servers that save player equipment/stats/etc.

VBS addons for OPF? Sound off.....

Haven't read this whole thread, so sorry if this has been said already. Why does everyone seem to think that what is 'special' about VBS is the models used?!? Excuse me, but there are GILLIONS of addons available for OFP, so I don't see what VBS could have in terms of models that isn't already in OFP. However, what makes VBS better than OFP are the core engine changes--NOT the models used in the units. There are tons of new scripting commands available too, such as writing to files and loading things from them. Those are the features that make VBS better than OFP, and there is no way that you can "make your own VBS" just by making some models. Sorry for the rant, but this whole thing really confuses me. However, it isn't surprising, considering how the OFP community seems more interested in eye-candy (new addons that make good screenshots) than they are in gameplay (new scripts and missions).

    Briefing, map and objects

Objects will only appear on the map in Cadet mode. Play the mission in veteran mode, and it shouldn't be a problem. Ohterwise, I don't think you can do anything about it.

    Female's radio voice

Try the voice "patrick" or "paul", and crank the pitch way up. You're right, there seems to be only 1 'female' voice, but it really doesn't sound like a female's voice to me. It sounds like one of the above voices with the pitch cranked way up.
  13. General Barron

    Mad Cow strike simulation

How hard can it be to create one little array? All you need is just a teeny bit of editing knowledge, which one would assume that you have if you are trying to make a mission.
  14. General Barron

    Female's radio voice

I don't think there are any female radio voices. When you have females in your group, they just use male voices with the pitch cranked way up. (Sounds funny, but not as bad as a deep male voice).

    empty enemy static weapons

One thing I've noticed with the "setcaptive" command, is that if UnitA is targeting UnitB, and then you make UnitB a captive, UnitA will keep on shooting at UnitB. Perhaps the same sort of thing is happening here: your men are targeting the MG, then the gun is turned friendly/whatever by the gamelogic, but your guys keep shooting it because they were already in the middle of shooting at it. Try the mission again like this, to test my theory: start the player on his own near the MG, and have a friendly group somewhere out of sight moving towards the gun. Kill the gunner yourself, and see if your buddies still decide to light up the gun when they get close enough to see it.
  16. General Barron

    Laser Sight

Exactly. Unless you are talking about some holywood laser-sight... Basically, you can have laser-sights in OFP: its called the optics of the weapon. Only problem there is that you can see the dot whether or not you are wearing NVGs...
  17. General Barron

    empty enemy static weapons

Would the gun stay on the "logic" side if you moved a logic into the gun, then moved him out right away?
  18. General Barron

    empty enemy static weapons

Hmm... perhaps you could "join" the empty MG to someone on a different side to prevent this? Longshot, but it may work....
  19. General Barron

    changing sides via script

Make him join a west group, but make it a group that isn't your group. Also, if you're trying to take prisoners, you could try my AI surrender script, located here: http://www.ofpec.com/editors/resource_view.php?id=679

    Animations related question

The problem is, after you make the unit play the animation, the AI then wants the unit to do something else, which is why the animation ends. You might get more "binoc time" out of the unit by doing this: unit selectweapon "binocular" But there isn't really any way to force the unit to stay in that animation, short of making a loop that "switchmoves" the animation every couple seconds. However, if you "camcreate" a unit, he will be created with no AI at all, which means he will forever stay in whatever position you switchmove him into. That might not be a possiblity in your situation, but still, FYI.

    Running Out Of Ideas

"seagull" You have to camcreate them, and then you move them around as if they were cameras. Also, there is very good, old script out there that makes a flock of seagulls fly around... could be the one Col. Klink used in his fishing boats addon. It could be useful to you. No we didn't. We didn't elect Clinton, either. At least, he didn't get over 50% of the vote.

Yeah, well what if someone wants to "opt out" of that community? What should happen to that person? Should he be thrown in jail? It all depends on what contract you and the company agree on when you sign up with them. If they agree to pay for such expensive diseases at the time you sign on, then they can't just "expel you". I must have missed that picture. Where did you see it? There you go: "there is no good or evil". That statement gets right down to the root of the bullshit. You mean to tell me that flying a plane into a building full of officeworkers is morally equivalent to bombing Al-Queida training camps in Afganistan? Oh, but we can't judge, I forgot. If I rape some 8 year old girl, then chop her head off, that isn't an evil act. It is just "my own agenda that I am realizing in a different way". What a load of horseshit. I'm sorry, but when somebody starts feeding me that line of crap, and then tries to tell me how the US is wrong to do this or that, I have to shake my head in amazement. That is a good point, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear people blame the US for that. Really? So the French just loved us, up until Bush became president? I find that hard to believe. Also, most of the policies that people are complaining about are relics of the cold war, which took place before Bush took office. Do you think that we didn't have troops in Saudi Arabia until Bush was elected? Did you think that we didn't have sanctions on Iraq when Clinton was in office? Did you think that we never supported certain dictators until Bush took office? Give me a break.
  24. General Barron

What if somebody never uses a taxpayer-funded library, or movie theater, etc? Why should they be FORCED to pay for others to visit that place? Every individual has different tastes, so there is no way that a government could satisfy everybody's tastes at the same time. The best way to do things is to let the individual decide for himself, what he wants to spend his money on. That sounds an awfull lot like... insurance. And if I'm not mistaken, that is something that can be provided by private enterprises, instead of the government. And with private companies, you have competition, which means better service than you would get under a monopoly (the government). But unfortunately, due to the government's f*cking around in the free market, insurance prices are sky-high around here. I'm not into all this collectivist bullshit. The funny thing about a truly capitalist society, is that people are still free to create their own socialist organizations/groups if they wish... however, the reverse is not true under a socialist society. Well, I guess its OK for the rest of you who don't mind having a government tell you how to live your life... We also have the highest non-gun murder rate, which means that overall, we have more violent people than other places do. Taking away guns won't make anyone less violent; it will just make us law-abiding people defenseless. That is why I said, people are trying to take those rights away. I don't see why it should be illegal for someone to ruin their own body (be it with drugs, cigs, fatty foods or lack of excersize), since they aren't hurting anybody but themselves. That is a bunch of liberal bullshit. It really cracks me up when people start talking like that. Should the British have asked themselves "why the Germans hate us" in WWII? Did the Germans have a "coherent agenda which should be taken seriously"? Yes they did; they wanted the expansion of the German state. And to garner support for that agenda, they played on the racism and anti-semeticism of the German population. Should the Jews in the death camps have been asking themselves, "what did I do to make them hate me like this?" The fact of the matter is, Bin Laden is evil. And Al Queida is a bunch of religious kooks. A bunch of racist, anti-semetic kooks. Any group who thinks that to get into heaven, they need "to kill the Americans and their allies -- civilians and military...to kill the Americans and plunder their money wherever and whenever they find it," is a bunch of evil people who need to be killed or captured, NOT brought out for tea and a friendly discussion of America's foreign policy. You and I may think that there are legitimate qualms against the US's foreign policy. But as rational, sane, decent people, there is no way we could make the leap from that, to sacrificing our lives to kill American civillians who have never been overseas. You and I may not like Jews or Christians, but there is no way we could make the leap from that, to sacrificing your lives in a Holy War against the evil Jews and Christians. It takes a certain type of person to believe that killing innocent people is God's Work. I would call that person "evil". You can call him "misunderstood" or whatever, but the fact of the matter is, there is nothing anybody can do to make that person suddenly change his mind. Therefore, he must be killed. How could we stop people from getting to the above point? We need to stop the brainwashing of Arab children in madrassas and in racist families. Something is wrong when you see pictures of cheering, smiling Palestinian children after the WTC attacks. No child should be cheering the murder of innocent people, unless they have been corrupted by their parents or their society or their "schools".

Ah, and that is where Europe is being blind and foolish. America is the primary target because it is the "great satan". We're the flagship of the West. Al Queida (sp?) has declared war on the West, and America is just the most notable target. Do you really think Spain would have been left alone if it hadn't gone into Iraq? Why do other middle-eastern countries get attacked by Al-Queida then? There are plenty of examples of Al-Queida attacks all over Europe, even before the Iraq war. Sweden is not a primary target because it doesn't have as much influence as America/Britain/Spain/France/Germany has. Just because the Spainards elected this new clown, doesn't mean that Al-Queida is going to leave them alone. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. Pulling troops out of Saudi Arabia isn't going to make Americans safer. Anyone who believes that is buying into Bin Laden's bullshit. The only way to stop these terrorists is to make them incapable of harming us, by killing them, breaking up their networks, and making sure that no country will harbor them.
