Niether o2 or buldozer will work properly
Ghost_Tracer replied to Ghost_Tracer's topic in OFP : O2 MODELLING
Dude, Beast, you ROCK!! You are THE King!! Holy cow if that didn't seem to fix it, now I guess I have a LOT of playing around to do to figure it all out...I'm sure I'll be asking all kinds of stupid questions in the future, but for now, THANK YOU KingBeast! -
I've been trying to get O2 to work for weeks, to no avail. It will load, for a short time, then it locks and I get the all too familiar windows "error report". Buldozer gives me "glide.dll" errors and simply will not load, never has, on either of my machines. I'm running ATI cards in both machines, and after calling Codemasters USA am aware that the problem could be in my video cards. I had OFP running great for a very long time, since the demo actually, on my older PC, and before buying a new machine I tried to install O2. Same problems as I described earlier, with the Radeon 8500 128mb. After I bought my new PC I installed Buldozer to a brand new partition, all of it's own. Still had the same problems, this time on an ATI FireGL 8800. The FireGL wouldn't run OFP at all at first, I guessed it was drivers. As soon as a driver update was released I grabbed it and, sure enough, OFP runs fine on it. However, no improvement with O2 or Buldozer, still locks up and buldozer still gives me the "glide.dll" errors, no matter how I configure O2. To say the least I'm at a loss. My email contact at BIS has disappeared and I've gotten no response to any emails for help. I have screenshots and further info if anyone would happen to have the time to help me out. It would be greatly appreciated. I have yet to complete any work, and it's driving me crazy, all these ideas..... My big thing is textures and I would really like to put myself to work on some OFP projects, but without the tools, well... Thanks to all for reading, my email is ghost_tracer@hotmail.com System Specs: System 1 Athlon 950mhz/Aseus K7V (Award BIOS) 768 mb PC100 SDR RAM ATI Radeon 8500 128mb (have tried all drivers from .6015 to Catalyst 2.2) SoundBlaster Audigy 90 gb combined HD space WinXP - All current drivers for all components System 2 Athlon XP2100 1.7g mhz/Abit AT7 Max (VIA Phoenix BIOS) 1.5 gb PC3000 DDR RAM, Mushkin certified ATI Fire GL8800 (driver version .3036) Avance Onboard Sound 123 gb HD WinXP - All current Drivers (hope I didn't forget anything)

1) The Ongoing Cessna Problem Ok, there have been many bugs with the cessna in OFP, most issues have been addressed but since the 1.45 upgrade, every time I take off, from anywhere, concrete airfield landing strip or not, the plane loses 1/4 of its armor before it ever gets off the ground. In earlier versions, I wasn't able to take off from anywhere but the airfield's concrete landing strip, and then it needed 120 mph to get lift. But above 120 mph if still on the ground, it would flip sideways and take damage in 1/4 increments until it was destroyed. Now, it still begins to lose armor in 1/4 increments at 120 mph, but I'm not allowed to leave the ground until 150, which leaves me at 3/4 armor after a perfect take off. Seems to me a bit of tweaking on the damage parameters is in order. 2) LAN Lag OFP has always been laggy online and even on my 10/100mb LAN. Version 1.42 didn't seem so bad, but 1.45/6 seem to be worse. Even light missions will chop and lag, and latency between host and client fluctuates wildly. 3) Building Walls/Objects I still fly through building walls, even more so with 1.46 than ever before. I seem to end up like spider-man stuck to the outside wall of building more now than before, which doesn't help when attempting to sneak up on a patrol of bad guys by going to the 2nd story of a nearby building, and all of sudden *poof* theres a guy standing on the building wall in front of the enemy platoon...OOOOPS! And what IS UP with that knocked over chair on the 2nd story of that 3 story building??? (the one with the ladder to the 3rd story) I ALWAYS get stuck in the chair, and I rotate around it without touching my keyboard or mouse, it also causes me to bounce up and down uncontrollably, which makes aiming accurately out of windows VERY difficult to say the least!!!! That particular building is great cover, but the chair makes it nearly impossible to use effectively!! I also get stuck frequently in closets, cabinets, and bunkbeds!! The only way out most of the time is to lay down and stand up continually. 4) Rubber Vehicles (lol) Why is it that a jeep will still bounce 3 or 4 times after being blown up, or after running over a particularly steep terrain change? I've been driven along a nice country road in my recently stolen Russian UAZ, laa-dee-daa, next thing I know I'm sailing straight up 30-40 feet off the ground, then bouncing like a tennis ball, only to have my vehicle end up like a turtle on its back. Just a couple things I've noticed, thought I'd mention them. Feel free to add bugs to this list, hopefully someone important will notice and take some considerations towards trying to fix them. I wasn't looking for answers, just a place to post some of my observations. I wasn't criticizing BIS or CM, I happen to love OFP and I play it almost every single day, I was merely reporting my experiences with 1.46. For a little history I've been playing OFP since the demo, and so far I've purchased 6 retail cd's along with 1 Gold Upgrade. The other 5 copies went to my friends who couldn't afford it....but hey, I needed players to play with on my LAN, and there was no other way to get them... Â My system specs are as follows: Athlon 950 w/Asus A7-V 768mb pc-133 RAM Radeon 8500 64mb DDR Audigy In response to the replies to my post, (BTW thank you all for replying)..... "Before you go on with your so-called 'bugs'. Try un-installing and re-installing OFP " Well, I have un-installed and re-installed, just like everyone else, countless times. For a while I thought I was having video driver problems, during which I uninstalled and re-installed 6-8 times and played under every patch/driver combo possible till I finally figured out that OFP was defaultly enabling the W-buffer upon a fresh install, before I had even opened OFP for the first time. (at least on my machine it did, every time I installed. I figured it was a hardware auto-detect thing) After finding the one driver that would allow me to view the main screen to choose options and disabling it I was able to update to my latest video drivers with no further problems. I'm not the only person experiencing the cessna problems, every person whom I've played with has experienced the exact same thing, just as I described it. I take damage no matter where I take off, concrete runway or not. "I used to be able to make an M113 jump off the ground with a single shot of an M16 to the turret." I had the same thing happen before 1.46, hit a tank anywhere with small arms fire and it would bounce. "I see no difference with the buildings/walls and the 'bouncing vehicles' from 1.46 compared to older versions." I do. It happens to me most often in 2nd stories of buildings, and I never stuck to the wall before, I just dropped out. I've also observed the AI enter a 2 story building and aviod walls just fine, but if any rounds are fired within their hearing distance they just drop straight out of the building through the nearest wall and head for the noise. The rubber vehicles aren't any different from earlier versions, I was just pointing out that the issue hasn't been addressed yet. One more thing, can someone explain the scoring system within OFP??? I swear, it's more confusing than trying to figure out why women think the way they do....today my buddy accidentally blew himself up via satchel charge, before first contact......I lived......neither of us had any kills, the only difference was that he killed himself......so I aborted... and at debrief I had -2800 points and he had +2200 points!!! Â How exactly does that make ANY sense??? It's not like points matter at all, I'm just curious as to the logic behind that... Never Forget Those Lost, Ghost_Tracer
