Sound problems with santa cruz turtlebeach
General Iljurin replied to General Iljurin's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Thx for answering Mr Frag. Yes Im positive that its configured correctly, I use headphones on this comp and I have checked the settings on numerous times as well as trying different setups. So to answer your question, the problem is not that I havent the proper headphone setup and the problem have been the same with the different setups I have tried (headphones to both front and rear speakers as well as trying the versajack). I know that santa Cruz have a good reputation and that is why I chosed them, so it would be a pity to have to buy another soundcard just cause this wouldnt work properly. I will try the BETA drivers and respond here with the outcome. -
I just bought a new comp: P4 2,2 GHz GeForce 3 Ti200 764 Mhz RAM Santa Cruz Turtle Beach soundcard Earlier I played on an lower spec machine and on that one I had the SBLive 1024 soundcard and i had no troubles. The problems I get with the new machine are that if I enable EAX Its "squelchy" and I get no surround sound...I might hear an chopper in my right ear even if the chopper is to my left and so on.... So I disable EAX but keep the hardware acceleration on...now it seems as if all "weak" sounds disappear and I can BARELY hear my own footsteps not to mention enemys (not talking about the footstep bug now). I have the latest drivers for the soundcard...that is the first they suggest in their own troubleshoot, the next is to decrease the hardware accel but thenm I loose EAX support. I chose this card over the Creative range but if no one of you techwizes can help me it seems as if I will have to change cards once again. Also do anyone of you know wheater this is OFP related or a common gaming problem? Would also be interrested in other Santa Cruz card owners that can play without any problem..

Who here would buy future games from b.i.s.
General Iljurin replied to Rage_Frost's topic in MULTIPLAYER
I think BIS has proved themselves to be devoted to the community in a great manner. Things people want that they think fit in the game they implement. Rage: What other developer do you know supports their release in the same way or better than BIS? I know none!! And if you do why dont you play that game instead?? I will BUY and play anything OFP-related that comes from BIS or is approved by BIS, they have my fullest support. -
HOW ABOUT A BAN SECTION ON THESE FOROUMS
General Iljurin replied to Frag Haus Capt Morgan's topic in MULTIPLAYER
Wouldnt it be good to in conjunction to this "tool" have a website up where it is explained why they are banned? And there the banned could state a defence if they think that they are banned on wrong reasons. -
Hi Hamilton. Yes we currently have those discussions in the clan. The bug is widely known and used by many, after all Creative is the biggest Soundcard manufacturer out there. Even if there are new drivers that will take away this problem I suspect that some people will stick with the old drivers just because it will give them a competetive edge. Is there a way that BIS could implement a thing in the next patch that will disable the EAX and/or the Hardware acceleration if the newest drivers arent used??? Is there even a way to check which sounddrivers that are used?? I think that the dealing with this isue is of the greatest importance if BIS are serious about MP play and the ladders that currently exist. As I see it there is only one way to deal with this: Either BIS fixes this bug or all should begin to use it. That is the only way things will be equal for all. We cant just rely on that all will download the newest drivers.. Just my opinion.

I would say that for the very casual gamer OFP might not be the best experience, but then again I doubt that the casual gamer would go ahead and buy a military sim. I have had small problems finding good games to play in MP. At first it was really easy to play at GS even if the program itself sucked. Well there you got to knew players and were invited to IP games and such. I would just say that you only have problems as long as you have no contacts and you easily get contacts if you behave and show interrest. I much rather play with people I know than jump onto any server and just frag away. In OFP the gameplay also differs so its really hard to play with people that has no clue of tactics and so and therefor I am quite happy that there is no JIP, that could easily destroy the game for those allready in it. My advice is, begin to play at GS and get to know a few peeps and then move onto ASE and IP where the games generally will be better. Once you get to know a few players your difficulties will be over.

I still get "Oh no nr 2 is down" repeated until my mental sanity is on the edge. This was supposed to be fixed in 1.42 but isnt.
-
Regarding the poll...isnt IP and ASE about the same? ASE is just a way to find IP games with the added ability to find dedicated servers as well

Just wondering if it is 100% certain that there will be a sequel to OFP. Has BIS given out any info in that direction and in such case ......where? Thanks in advance

Hiding in trees or bushes with the "clipping method" is what everyone is doing and fine by me cause the developers of this game wanted this to be done in this way, no one would call this cheating and in real life you can hide in, see thru and shoot thru bushes and trees. However if what makes you one of the best OFP players (since residuum posted it here, he must have meant that he considered himself to be one) is your "ability" to exploit clipping defects in the game engine you are way out on deep water. If you use this to go thru walls, hide in walls, rocks and other solid objects that were not meant by the developers to be used in such way then you are cheating. Plat the game the way it was meant to be played or choose another hobby. As for this specific case I have no idea, I have never played against residuum but since he state that this is what makes him good ("to camp using the games poor clipping") it looks like it wasnt any coincidence he came uopn the roof of the church and if he went thru a wall to get there he was cheating..simple enough. Mal instead of defending him you should take your responsability as clanleader and teach him was is considered to be the respected way to play this game.

Ãf you do this you should stop it right away and surely not "brag" about it in an thread named "best OFP players" in the official forums

bump. I just want an answer if what I state above is completely out of question.

I also encountered this one. Happened all the time on a usermade mission WITHOUT respawn.
