Pull the truck off the road just before the anti tank obstacles so your belooking at the back (right) of the camp. Make all of your patrol go prone at the top of the hill, then open fire on the enemy patrol that is patrolling accross to the left. The Vulcan will not open fire unless you stand up or shoot directly at it, so the next job is take out the vulcan you can see. Now take out every other soldier and the M2 gunners (Still lying prone on the hill), I then fired the other LAW I had picked up at the first Enemy Vulcan base, at what little I could see of the other Vulcan (Behind building). Once I was sure of all enemy soldiers and snipers being dead I ran down to the dead bodies and picked up as many grenades as possible and started throwing grenades over the top of the building at the Vulcan, never actually seeing it.

When Playing Ofp nine times out of ten the monitor signal goes out of range, I'm using an ATI All-in-wonder 128 graphics card with directX 8, this has only started happening since 1.30, 1.29 was fine. I've tried playing with the refresh rates and various other settings, but still to no avail. Any ideas? I'm just looking for brief suggestions at the moment, will post complete system spec if needbe.

Thanks very much for the advice Digijo, let you know how I get on.

I did intially, but then after seeing various posts on the problems with upgrading to 1.30 over 1.29 I started from scratch. Â (Scratch meaning I deleted all exsisting OFP files, and reinstalled right from the begining with version 1.0 then 1.1 then 1.20 then 1.30.) When I went from 1.29 to 1.30 orginally I experienced two problems I had never encountered before, one was it crashing to desktop and the other was this signal going out of range fault. Â I had never had any problems with OFP before 1.30! Installing 1.40 has stopped it crashing to desktop but has not helped with the monitor problem.

Oh, and Bravo Two Zero: I know Chris Ryan (anyone heard of him? ) and he reckons that Andy McNab developed this grudge against him after the war, because Chris got away and he didn't. His book and the film based on the book is an INACCURATE depiction of what happened because it is from his biased viewpoint, and, since he didn't get away, I'm more inclined to believe Chris' version of events. Now all of the above is just my opinion, your welcome to hail it as "the best" "most realistic" etc but frankly, I couldn't give a toss, my dear.<p>Black Hawk Down is based on a book by Mark Bowden, I book I have read and think it is the best book description of a b@lls-out firefight I have ever read. If the film-makers stick to the book, its a classic in the making...<span id='postcolor'> I would be inclined to believe Andy Mcnabs version as he was with most of the patrol where as Chris was out alone heading for the border. It doesn't matter which way you look at it they are all a testiment to the attributes needed to make an SAS Trooper. Black Hawk Down the film has to have everybody getting blown to bits...........'cos that's what happened!! It was a complete cock up by the Yanks.............and unfortunately one of many. The new SA-80 is set to be the one of the worlds best rifles with the new modifications completed and being implemented slowly, the M16 had many more faults than the SA-80 has had or will ever have.

But I didn't intend it to sound like I typed it. I didn't mean for it to sound like I was suggesting a handheld AA gun, I was trying to say that a mobile or fixed large calibre gun (Not the minigun, on the vulcan) would be good for wiping out ground forces (For Cucuma) and the occasional Aircraft.....just for a bit of fun when creating your own missions. And where I mentioned 'maybe not two guns', that should of been 'definately not two guns' I was just being pollite.

Maybe not two guns, but what about something with a heavier caliber. Â Maybe anti aircraft guns, you could do some serious damage to ground forces with them! (Edited by Gambba at 12:46 pm on Dec. 14, 2001)

A small appology wouldn't go a miss to the game Killor, you started this post with a bad attitude and now your problem is fixed you look like you're trying to finish it with ATTITUDE! Avonlady and Screaming... made good valid suggestions with methodical processes and instead of replying politely and with answers to their questions you just flame them and give no answers. Nowhere did you actually detail what steps you had taken in attempting to fix YOUR problem you just blamed the game, yes there are problems with the game but this post was never going to help anyone! You also said that you got 25 views with no help, that's because you gave nothing to work with! People like Avonlady have to assume that everyone is a dummy and start at the basics (You know crawl then walk then run) if she jumped in at the deep end then maybe 95% of gamers would be lost. So to recieve information you must give information! Last but not least, never ever slag off someones job, and if out of all the info he provided all you could do was put his job down and argue about the 1700 T-bird (1700 does not refer to clock speed!) , then I think he must of provided some valid info??!

You're quite right Dayglow....................... it's just bad typing, it should say 'a suppressor would be a great asset for concealment when used in the right environment' I was then going to go on and say that suppressors would have little affect in the open environment such as Ofp, as the echo would be dissoreintating enough by itself for the enemy to get a fix on the sniper.....but my boss came, and well I had to finish rather quickly. I apologise for my f**k up, it will teach me to read what I type....for a change. (Edited by Gambba at 11:34 am on Dec. 14, 2001)

Killor.............you didn't mention in your guide that the Bullpup design is also one of the most accurate rifles due to the closed bolt (i.e no bolt slamming forwards when fired) and the location of the firing mechanism for weight distrubution.......open to opinions? LARD, SA80 Assault Rifle!!..........think again, it's a bullpup! Killor is right about the correct term for a silencer being a suppresor, but from some of the info I have seen it seems that some manufacturers offer suppressors and some sillencers, both offering slighty different characteristics?? (Correct me if I'm wrong) Who wants a full blown suppressor on a Sniper rifle anyway? a flash suppressor would be a great asset for concealment. The only decent silenced/supreesed gun I've seen was a Chinese pistol which had a suppressor, the only part to move when the trigger was pulled was the firing pin...................one heck of a quite gun.....a small thud and it's all over. Redvex? are you lying down when taking the shot? (It's just nobodys mentioned this aspect of sniping)

I want the Brit army Lynx and Puma!!!!
Gambba replied to Captain Kickass's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The Lynx would only be worth while if they made it true to life, i.e. the only military Helicopter in the world to be able to loop to loop, due to it's fixed blades! The Puma is a medium sized chopper, for carrying troops mainly but has a great cargo carrying ability, armament is limited to a couple of GPMG's on the doors. -
Good stuff Robarinodk, keep hounding Them! BIS and Codemasters. I think you're right about them jumping the gun, and I think it happens more and more these days, so they can get the game out on the market then fix it/ patch it later!

For me this 1.3 patch has got to be the worst out of them all, patchy graphics, crashing to desktop, AI shooting perfectly through trees, bouncy flying and Aircraft that bounce whilst parked. It's annoying how they can make a game whith an absolutely brilliant concept yet execute/produce it with such piss poor programing! Stuff it I'm going back to 1.29, it worked better!

Bump! No you talk about uninstalling....not deleting! Uninstall leaves a lot of files still in ofp folder. And the only reason I say this is because I had exactly the same fault as Unicorn, and it worked for me! (Edited by Gambba at 6:18 pm on Nov. 19, 2001)

As I said in my previous post, the way I got round corrupt files was to delete Ofp completey (except the user and Mpmission files) then reinstall Ofp then 1.1 then 1.2 and finally 1.3. I still have problems with the game but atleast it installed..........................I suppose???!!!
-
Try sending an e-mail to BIS or codemasters with system spec etc.................see Troubleshooting FAQ for where to send your e-mail too.
-
Try uninstalling Ofp then installing again, and then adding the patches. It worked for me.

God dam, blasted Mother of all bastard whores! Since upgrading (Upgrade....yeah right!!) to 1.30 all it seems to do is shutdown to desktop, no error messages......just does what it dam well pleases! I tried just adding 1.3 patch and it said it was missing a paintball file and a DTA file, I had read that 1.29x could clash with 1.3, so I thought F**K it and uninstalled Ofp completely, then reinstalled it, well tried anyway! I have had all of the problems mentioned on this post, so I installed Ofp again, and tried to patch with 1.2 and now that was missing files~! Â So the way I went was to install Ofp then the Ultimate Upgrade (1.1) then 1.2 and then to 1.3..................and guess what it still closes/crashes when it wants!! I had no problems running any of the previous patches including 1.29x ............and in this case 1.29 was better than 1.3. Any Ideas? AMD Athalon 1.3 Ghz ATI All-In-Wonder 128 32mb 384 SDRam 2 X 45Gb HD Windows ME I've also had trouble installing the latest ATI drivers....anyone else? (Edited by Gambba at 10:47 pm on Nov. 18, 2001)

You can find your IP address out on the official codemasters flashpoint site as follows; Go to http://www.codemasters.com/flashpoint/ there is a section on multiplayer, you'll see a section icon 'multiplay' click on it. Then the screen will display 'Gamespy' 'Multiplayer Instructions' and 'Multiplay' icons........... click on 'Multiplayer instructions'. Then scroll down to the bottom of this page, where there is a text box. In there you can join the Chat room or find out your IP address....................... But you do not need this to join a game online only to host a game. (Edited by Gambba at 8:22 pm on Aug. 20, 2001)
