ArmA2 1.03 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
fincuan replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I like the arrestor wires on the Khe Sanh. Strong stuff :) -
You alread said running Arma2 and Fraps on different drives didn't help, but that's precisely what made the difference for me. Almost like night and day. A few other things I use are 25fps while recording, and half-screen recording(resoluton is halved). A full-screen recording is four times as big as a half-screen, so it's easy to see how this makes a difference. Quality suffers of course, but for general Youtube use and such it isn't too bad.

Go ahed and post the settings, it'll help some people. For x64 users there's still no option because PPJoy won't work.

A good war movie, highly recommended

Add an hour to that and you're closer to the truth :) -
One more vote to Tacticalgamer. No need to join anything if you don't want to, but even then registering at the forums is highly recommended and it is a requirement for TS access. More experienced members are always around to run the game and lead the fireteams, so it's very easy for a newbie to jump in. Listen to orders and don't be a jackass, and you'll have guaranteed fun on the server(if you can stay awake past planning and briefing :)) Arma2 server isn't up yet, but as Fans and a few others said it probably won't take long anymore. http://www.tacticalgamer.com/armed-assault/

Nice! Keep them coming ::cheers: Kotimaisuus kunniaan

Damn BIS, making it all ready for us. All the custom functions I made for my arty addon are now useless :D edit: Forget what I posted and just use the BIS way :) Different function
-
I never had problems with the weapon itself, just the "accessories" + blank ammo combination: Feeding problems because of worn-out mags and ejecting problems because of the brass collector(sometimes used when on excercises in urban areas). I also had one casing bounce off the collector and fly straight into my right eye, so that's one extra gadget I'm not too fond of :) During my 18 months the weapon never jammed or otherwise malfunctioned when using live ammo, or practice ammo with good magazines, so yes I'd say it's pretty reliable.

Add support for Freetrack

Multiplayer Saving?
fincuan replied to charliereddog's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Yes it is. I don't remember if you can save during a mission, but the game is definitely saved between missions. You can even jump between sp and coop campaign at your will, so there's no need to have other players around to continue the campaign. -

You have renamed your arma2.exe, that's why. Change it back and it'll work. edit: Hahah, slow -

Thanks Some working hours you have too, as I saw even the CEO himself posting here just a few minutes ago. -
It won't, or I've found a way to get around FADE while overwriting the original files.
-
Something like this? Block2 = { _var = _this select 0; doStuff; }; //Block1 [parameters] call Block2; doStuff;
-
Aye, it's not triggered by the language patch.

That's given. They do business with it so of course they'll do everything they can to protect it. If they want to shut users with certain type of hardware or software out of the loop then that's their decision, and we can't do anything but to express our opinions against it. FYI apart from preventing FT users from using the new NP-api it's the same thing for TIR1 and 2 users: their devices won't work with it. Hence why a common head-tracking interface, akin to how joysticks, mice or keyboards work, would be better.
-
If you mean why FT mostly functions via the TIR interface in today's games, the answer is simple: The TIR interface is far more widespread than that of FT. At the moment, with the new TIR interface, that isn't an option because it's encrypted in a way which prevents FT from working with it. That's why Freetrack's own interface is being pushed forward. It's free for anyone to use and implement and open-source, quite a difference to what Naturalpoint puts out.
-
Which they have already done, which has been mentioned in this thread numerous times. The complete source code of the software is also available on their site.
-
Eta for such game is approximately 2299, aka. ain't going to happen within our lifetime :)
-
+1 I use precisely that setup due to the decrased amount of hassle it requires vs. soldering the clip yourself. An easy and cheap way to setup a Freetrack-compatible system.
-
Attention, speculation ahoy: NP might have forbidden BIS from implementing any kind of competing solution if TIR is supported, or at least limiting its functionality. They already did this with Black Shark. So it's probably either TIR or Freetrack, but not both. If were NP I'd definitely go for that to preserve what is practically a monopoly in commercial consumer-level solutions. Choosing a free head-tracking implementation over TIR in a game like Arma2 would require a brave developer at the current situation, but if such a choice spread it would hopefully bring other manufacturers to the market. Then again I wouldn't mind to be wrong about the situation between BIS and NP, and see both TIR and FT fully supported in Arma2.
-
One more vote for Freetrack support :ok: Sorry, but Arma2 just isn't enough of a reason for me to replace a completely functional, well tested system with a 150€ alternative.
-
Patching from beta 1.01 to the final worked fine here, no error messages or anything else weird. Thanks BIS!
