Wow that sux.. I really enjoyed Hifi for arma 1. BTW check all 2nd hand selling websites for a motherboard of the type you had. You might also wanna go to amateurcomputersell markets you can often find old motherboards there for a few pounds or euro's. BTW Data on a dead HD can be recovered by a few companies. I feel your pain bro. I decided to play Arma less and less for a while aswell. Im sure they will make this into a fantastic game in the end but the question is how long will it take. Who knows? Anyways back to play some Niko in GTA4 ;) Hope to see you back soon

Reinstalling and patching to 1.3 out of the box didnt fix it, The only sollution atm is to have almost no sound like spindry says. Im playing on 10% of the volume slider right now. I hope BIS will hotfix the soundissue fast

Ok tried uninstalling ARMA and patching it from 1.0 to 1.3 and #$#%^^%&*&* i still have the crackling and distortion sounds pffff.

I have the same clicks Alex72. It sounds like it just shuts down the sound in total for a few seconds and then starts again. In my case even Teamspeak is affected by it.
