Hehe, really well done, mate. Is there a sequel in the making? ;)

Does someone have a working mirror for the file ? The main download site seems to be down due to traffic violation. I'd appreciate if someone was kind enough to host it.

Retaliation campaign now available in English

Great! Operation Flashpoint stays alive from custum made addons and campaigns these days and fortunately this long anticipated project has been finished. -
Opf 2 not gonna be released at 2004.

At least we have some time now to save money for our forthcoming OFP2-ready PC Let's hope that they implement even half of what has been said in the Suggestions-Forum and everyone will be happy. For the one's who need something to play with: there are other gaming highlights coming soon... -
What was your fav scoped assault rifle?
Franz_Schall -SWAF- replied to DeltaSquad-5-'s topic in GENERAL
I think the G36 got a slight advantage in OFP over the other weapons. Thus makes it the first choice for combat. -
I'd like to see a mix of various styles (e.g. classical, rock, chorus, hard rock etc.) which will underline the specific moods in different situations. I have the movie "Platoon" in mind where Dafoe is left behind, gets down on his knees and raises his hands to the air. You can't play some hard rock there, most likely something more tragical and thrilling would be suitable. I hope you can see my point... ;)

OFP needs something like HLTV with the possibility to stream the action from the Server to people outside, who want to look how it's going. This will surely support the Community, and would help to grow the interest in Multiplayer Gaming. In our virtual military command, I have seen a desire of the "younger" members to see what a Ladder game is like or simply to watch the game. Would be cool to have something like this, but there should be the ability to restrict it, of course. We don't want to give our tactics away ;)

SpeedyDonkey, I hope that we can see some more music-vids from you in near future

Which theatre are you most looking forward to?
Franz_Schall -SWAF- replied to SpeedyDonkey's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Voted for central europe campaign. Thought on a huge battle between Nato and Warsaw Pact countries, and as MP said - I'd like to see the GDR involved there, too As I heared that the battle areas are designed based upon real terrain, I had think of some abandoned military bases in the areas around my hometown here, and - as a matter of fact, they were primary targets on Nato's to-do list in case of war :o S33ker, maybe some modders could take that as theme for their mod then... As far as I know, there aren't many recent games which simulate this hypothetical conflict during that period of time, yet. Well, BIS has lots to chose for OFP3 -
Wow, ThruYerStErNuM. I have never heard that it's possible in the current OFP version. I've ever thought this amount of units involved would peak out every CPU which is on the market and make it in consequence not playable. Heads up for your hard work - I'll d/l and test it when it comes out.

Two years on, how have your feeling evolved?

But LOADS do.<span id='postcolor'> I think a lot of people who think like that judge by what they see most of the time in OFP - trees, bushes, player animations, buildings and ground textures; and I have to admit that especially the bushes and trees looking weired and not very realistic. These major critics gone away for me with Resistance where they improved all of my former mentioned points. One thing where OFP has its unique advantage are the vehicles and their textures (in Resistance even all other textures on streets, buildings etc.) - I haven't found a game yet which got that nice and realistic looking "feeling". -
I'd like to see some basic animals like birds, butterflies, ordinary flies and so on; just let's never forget that we aren't on a animal farm but in a tactical game
-
Yeah SpeedyDonkey - that's exactly what I thought at. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Yes but if you make it "Gta3 style" good cutscene would be very hard to make in a accurate way. Maybe some kind of a compromise could be done, a few obvious things like If you shoot a chopper in mission 1 it will be gone in mission 2. And inside a mission you could choose if you want to attack town 1 or 2 first, but as fast as it gets "too" dynamic it will be hard to tie the missions together story wise and maintain the nice cutscene, witch i love<span id='postcolor'>

Graphics engine improvement
Franz_Schall -SWAF- replied to bn880's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I hope you guys aren't biased only on OFP - it's an excerpt of the developers diary about Söldner - Secret Wars. There's something very interesting about creating these huge environments, and the difficulties it might bring for customers as well as developers which would target the same problems as BIS might encounter while programming OFP2. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">3D HARDWARE ACCELERATION As you know, Söldner requires DirectX8.1 and a hardware accelerator. The job of a PC game developer is made difficult by the myriad of different cards on the market. Even if brand new GeForce FX or Radeon 9700 cards are in the stores, there are still enough users with Geforce2 or even TNT2 cards out there. So which cards to support? Tough question. Somewhere you have to draw a line. Currently this line is a GeForce2 for Söldner. We support all sorts of scaling down the game to run on those cards; whether or not we can lower this line to GeForce1 is unknown as we don't want to upset those people with high end cards, right? The reason I touch this topic is something called static meshes. Due to the history of 3D acceleration, specifically the way hardware manufacturers tune their cards to play Quake-style games, is limiting games in big way. Modern cards are optimized to run static meshes really fast. Static meshes are the Object 3D data uploaded into the memory of the 3D card. Once inside the card, this object can be displayed really fast: awesomely fast in fact. The drawback? Its static, i.e. it can't be changed. So if you play a FPS game walls are concrete; they can't be changed or shot at. Remember Duke? That game was far more flexible and dynamic in its environment than for example Doom was. Check out the latest FPS games: even more static, but much more beautiful than the past. In fact recent games display less stuff but spend more time displaying it great. Check out the Doom 3 movies. How many monsters do they display? Three? But oh boy, they look awesome. But forgotten were the days where you could kill 50 monsters in Doom with a single rocket from your launcher... In other words the graphics card's power is spent on making things look better, but not making the 3D environment better, interactive, dynamic. Söldner tries to change this with a lot of effort. In our game everything can be destroyed. This means that we need to update our objects in the 3D card constantly. As the AGP bus is pretty slow compared to the masses of data, we have to optimize everywhere we can. Would the 3D world optimize their hardware to run dynamic meshes we would be in a much better position and even support older cards than GeForce2. Recently, the vertex shaders and buzzwords like cg compiler are heading our way: a programming language inside the 3D card where we can change meshes already uploaded. But its not here yet, less than 2% of the market has those shaders. So we need to wait. What I want to say with all this? Well, this is the single reason why Söldner is a tactical shooter. Tactical shooters have the advantage of not needing 100 frames per-second. They can run with less, easily. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r....ge=http <span id='postcolor'> -
Whisper, SpeedyDonkey - that's the point where the difficulties begin... I would like to see a game wich includes a deep dramatic athmosphere, as well as a dynamic campaign, where the outcome of one mission has an effect to all the following missions. I'd like to see the freedom of completing missions as it is now. But that isn't really related to a dynamical campaign, I think. In GTA3, as far as I remember, the missions in GTA3 are connected to each other, too. What you have got there is that you can go around and (when not having an appointment) doing whatever you want. Besides that, the missions are connected among themselves just not that restricted as you find in massively scripted games (where you come from one mission straight into the next one). Personally, I prefer the indeepth, emotion awaking style which made Flashpoint to the game it's loved for - the feeling of being an individual in a big conflict, whichever the final solution might be..
-
Yep, WhoCares - IL-2:FB might be one example for an approach for my thoughts. I'd favour a fully dynamical campaign, but it might be hard to design at the moment (too many unforseen possibilities, in-game cutscenes etc.).
-
Yes, dude - making the gameplay a bit more dynamic would be increasing your freedom of doing whatever you want to achieve your main goal. But on the other hand it might confuse some people who simply don't know what to do and how to do next things.. Personally, I'd like to see a full dynamical campaign as well, where every loss and every killed enemies affect your army's strength, ressources and planning etc. (maybe not achieveable until OFP3 is coming ) I can't wait any longer to get more information about it ....

Yeah, as you said </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">OFP Is the ONLY game (apart from Half life , In DoD form) that still holds my attention after 2 years of CONTINOUS play. OFP holds the record for the longest period of install on my PC.<span id='postcolor'> For me personaly, since I have first seen a movie about OFP in a german games magazine - I had to buy this game. The amazing freedom of doing all things as you like, ties my mind even two years after its realease. As soon as I walked through the Singleplayer campaign and began to load custom mission and addons there came the only anticlimax during that period - the multiplayer part. I swered that I won't play that game online till Resistance hit the store shelves which would introduce an easy to use ingame serverbrowser. Since these warm days in August 2002 - I play this game actively in my Squad, and haven't seen a game yet which could top it. -
"I want to hunt some reindeers in the forests. " Besides, I think animals would be a nice addition to the game athmosphere. Moreover to the already stated wishes, I want to hear the battlefield as it really is.. there are already nice soundpacks like Dynamic Range out there (unfortunately not MP-playable). I am sure that BIS hears us and tries to fulfill our needs

Nice missions, Goeth. While playing it on Hitman's private Server, we encountered a bug in  "a&d@ 40 die laughing". During the intro there was one member of US-Team permanently killed (Nightmare), and as he changed to a different group, he was killed again.. . This happened to Acidcrash, as well,  but only once for him. see: http://mitglied.lycos.de/franzschall/Clan-Pics/bug1.jpg If you need more info, please message Hitman about it.

In my opinion there must be a change of the value from some specialized soldiers. For example: When your Radio Operator is dead, you can't call in for air support etc. These specialists on the battlefield deserve more attention!

Your Flashpoint resolution has to be higher than the Desktop resolution and it will work again. my settings: Desktop 1152x864 Game 1280x1024 GFX-Card is a Geforce2 Ti, DX9, Detonator 42.68.
