    Gonza =) Seems great! very impressive work! And yes, I think that minefields could be greatly improved, I'll call you when I'm in developpement state, to see what can be modified or improved. Kroky =) sorry, I didn't notice your post at first. in fact, it's very easy to adapt vts2 to any island : you just have to copy past the mission objects in the new island and to modify the description file.

    Unyx =) Yep I'm french. En fait j'en suis encore à la phase réflexion/papier. Il faudrait notamment que je nettoie et optimise le code, qui est juste une énorme usine à gaz... Ensuite, pour une phase d'alpha test ultérieure, oui, j'aurais carrément besoin d'aide. Mais pas avant quelques temps, donc. Translating : In fact I'm at the beginning of the devloppement, I would like to optimize some part of the code. Far later, for testing purposes, I will certainly need some (big) help. Gonza =) Good ideas. For 3D interface, I'm a little bit scared.... About personal scripts, you can already introduce them. I wrote a tutorial, packed with the mission, concerning this part.

    Rommel =) yes, I'm thinking about some updates. But i'll take my time (my personal life isn't easy these times). Ike_fin =) there's a pdf tutorial to add weapons, or whatever you want to in the rts editor. This pdf is inside the vts2 file when you download it.
  9. I think a good mission must be well-balanced and must not have annoying bugs. Well balanced : I'm often surprised and quite fed up with completly irrealistic objectives. ArmA is not Quake... Annoying bugs : It's sometimes difficult to make a perfect mission in complex environments. But it seems obvious that a mission has to be tested, and tested again before a release. These two elements should seem basics, but in fact a lot of users' missions in ArmA have these problems...

Cooperative game for 1 to 25 players, by Grimm. Release end of october 2007. Currently on beta test. It will be released in french and english versions. The concept: VTS2 allows you to create cooperative missions in real time. The players choose their side, equipment, the location of the objective, and so on. Everything is customizable. It's composed of 2 modules that can work together or independantly. ========================================== Videos ========================================== - Start a game with 3 clicks (french) - advanced options (french) - Objectives (french) - Real time (french) - Real Time game example (English) - Mixing pre-mission and real time tutorial (English) - Complete real time mission tutorial (English) Module 1 : pre-mission A mission can be set in 2 clicks: the squad leader has to determine the location of the objective on Sahrani's map, then the insertion spot of the players. All he then has to do is run the mission on the radio menu. But he can also customize and activate the following options: - The enemy side (considering their own side, players will fight against OPFOR, BLUEFOR or Resistance) - The enemy AI kind: static, mobile or aggressive. - The number of enemy groups. - The size of the enemy area. - The available equipment (in this case, the squad leader can include any type of equipment, ammo crates, vehicles,... and choose the enemy equipment, and possble reinforcements (paras, artillery)). - Type of the objective: * Reach a flag in the enemy area * Kill the enemy officer * Destroy an enemy antenna * Free hostage, and bring him back to the insertion spot. - The kind of insertion : by ground or parachuting. In the latter, the players' dispersion will depend on the climatical conditions. - The civilians: will there be any civilians in the enemy area? In this case, they will randomly move in the zone. Killing one of them will cause the game to end. - The respawn: if no respawn is chosen, a camera will let the killed players follow their comrades on the field. - Setting of the time of the day and the weather. During the mission, the squad leader can also choose the satellite view, and ask for artillery support. Platoon leader's computer Module 2 : Real Time At any moment, the squad leader can decide to customize the players environment, or simply to create the mission in real time, with his own objectives. In this context, the possibilities are infinite. - Creating objects All the vehicles and all ARMA units are available in the real time editor, and so are more complex objects: checkpoints, minefields in different sizes, with or without danger signs. Checkpoint Outpost Mine field - observing and teleporting the players At any moment, the squad leader can activate the GPS of the players on his side(he'll be the only one to see their location), use a virtual camera to wander on the battlefield, and teleport the players to a given place. - Real time encoding, and inserting your own scripts The squad leader can insert a command line in real time. Thanks to VTS2 open source design, it's very easy to use your own scripts, server-sided or on all the computers playing the mission. Real time console - Creating triggers and game logics At any moment, the squad leader can insert any type of trigger: creating events, new objectives, mission ending conditions... Zoom on the real time map Modding VTS2 in a few minutes VTS2 is an open-source system: all you have to do is modify the configuration files to modify the mod deeply: insert new units, vechiles, weapons, but also the number and the kind of enemy groups, and numberous other game parameters.

    It's just some relics from the Igor Drukov's computer that i mainly rewrote (but i kept Igor credited in the notes, as he's been very influent in the design of the platoon leader's computer). So it won't work as it is. But you can of course insert your own scripts.

    mazza =) yep, you're completly right, it seems to have some little bug with satellite view... Thank you for having noticed that. I'm gonna try to fix it. At least, it's not a big part of VTS2. EDIT : FIXED. LINK UPDATED And no, sorry, you actually can't save the real time. Thanks to everyone for their support and nice comments

    Hello Sniper121, And you've been very helpful! Concerning VTS2, other Islands are just a (copy/paste) of the original ArmA island, so vts2 should be exactly the same (I hope so, lol), but I thought It would be funnier to have different environments. Wath out the patch that need to be applied for Sakakah, and the special version of AlexSworn Map for dedicated servers. Good game

    DMarkwick =) I'm not sure to understand your question very well (I'm not an english native). For my part, I had some fun playing the mission alone in the earlier alpha stage, that's why i made the mission spawn some AIs when you're alone. Indeed, pre-mission module has a lot of random facts, and i feel it is quite easy to be surprised sometimes. But I guess you're right since it's a fact that the whole mission has been designed for mp more than sp EDIT =) Oups Teliko, thanks

    Not in a near future... I worked on VTS2 for two months full time, and I'm a little bit fed up with it... lol. I think I'm going to take some rest for now But you can simulate SP when playing alone MP. Some AI are automatically spawned under your order in this case

    Raptor =) Mazza is perfectly right. Nothing to add except the error message you get comes from SP or opposing side Mazza =) satellite view : it works fine with FFAMM (I used it myself). I guess that the True View Mod is the problem. Artillery : first you have to set a position with "coord" (click ok then click on the map). Then you can ask for fire. it should work fine . If you want to change the location, then select "coord" again, click ok, and click on another location on the map.

    I need more details if there a fix needed : what island, what side, did you get an error message, etc. I'm quite surprised as everything has been seriously tested many times. I would think it's a island problem... Did you download the right island? And did you play different side on the same time (VTS2 is a coop game, not a versus one)?
