EDIT: Sorry admins, this should be in "Low performance" thread... Just got a laptop with my first ATi gpu (HD8570) You ATi users probably already use this but just in case... I managed to get quite good fps playing around with ATi Tray Tools So if you are having performance problems or even crashing it might be worth a try. (I think settings LOD to -2 gives better ground texture look) Game Settings: Res:______1600x900 (100%) ViewDist:__5525 Textures:__Normal Memory:___Default Filtering:___High AA:_______Low Terrain:___Normal Objects:___Normal Shadows:__High PP:_______Low 31fps in OA Benchmark

Arma 2 and OA crash my computer unconventionally
EDcase replied to HomerPepsi's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I've had that happen occasionally where the game will freeze or screen goes black and I must turn off computer. (Using GTX285) Try different video memory settings in game options: Very High or Default Also try ATI tray tools. (I got good performance on my laptop playing with settings) -
Yes, there is an A10 in OA for US faction. The one in ARMA2 is for USMC... Dokken: Try copying the whole DVD contents to your hard drive and install from there. You posted while I was writing...

Well it seems to work fine for me. I can set any power level I want. I can hover and then move up or down VERY slowly by moving the throttle a tiny bit forward and back. There are no flat spots or preset levels...
-
I don't understand the problem people are having with the throttle...? With X52: (pull for power as per helicopter throttle) Increase thrust >> pull back on throttle (+Z) Decrease thrust >> push forward on throttle (-Z) Gives me full analogue control over throttle response. (with no saitek or other software) NOTE: Brake seems to activate automatically at 0 power.

Yeah, I had great fun with that back in OFP... Nice work Takko. Can we get a PBO version...?
-
Try adding this line to the init field of the commander or each unit: this allowfleeing 0 Might help....? This is more of a Mission Editing question so you may get more response in that forum.
-
Have you tried the latest BETA patch BobbyD? Very easy to install and remove. (To remove just delete the Beta folder) What about in the editor? Place a soldier for yourself and a few enemies nearby. Do they react to you?
-
Is that playing Domination? Sounds like a problem with the mission not the core game. Do a search for the mission name and see if there is a thread about it.

Nice screens Bootsy, I've got a strange problem when I activate the anaglyph. My screen slowly whites out. It goes faster if I'm looking out of some cockpit glass. I've tried lots of settings of course so has anyone come accross this? Win7-64 6Gb ram i7 920 @ 3.36 GTX285 1Gb (NVidia Driver 258.49) BTW: congrats to BIS for improving the 3d implementation. (ie. smoke & shadows)

Yep, there is a CIT ticket already for this... Vote for it. (You have to log in)

You were kicked off the server , session lost.
EDcase replied to jantsik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
What game are you playing? ArmA2 or Operation Arrowhead? Must be different game versions. Not sure the best way to update with Steam so best to search on the forum. -
A helicopter... ;) Seriously, double click on the icon and it will give you details on type.

How many AI on each side? Might be CPU limited. Try being an observer standing next to the current losing side. I think ARMA gives a slight priority to the AI nearest the human player. Needs more testing...

ArmA 2 - problem with helicopter
EDcase replied to Mara1681's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I think you will get more help in the EDITING part of the forum. -
Flickering triangles/artifacts on buildings at distance
EDcase replied to bono_lv's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I see that with all objects at extreme distance. I think its an engine problem. Looks like multiple LoD objects overlaid. Looks awful and I'm sure it aint good for performance either. -
CPU handles all AI calculations and GPU puts everything on the screen. In empty editor there is NO CPU load so GPU runs at full speed = 60fps In mission with lots of AI the CPU is working hard and GPU must wait for CPU to update screen = 20-25fps This means your CPU is a bottleneck so this would be a good upgrade in future.

Unistall/Re-install won't get rid of files that have been created after the first install: like the temp files. Those must always be removed manually. This applies to most software installations. So if you create your own mission in the editor does it crash too?
-
Something wrong there. AI are bloody dangerous for most of us. Are you playing in Cadet mode? Check difficulty settings and put enemy AI at 1

Unable to see / join servers if OA is installed in a different way?
EDcase replied to Flightster's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
First I've heard of this problem. (Are you sure thats the reason?) For me OA installed itself in the ARMA2 folder as its supposed to. Might be worth making a ticket on the CIT -
ARMA II won't install on Asus G73jh
EDcase replied to tangoniner's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Wow, you've got a bad attitude. Hope we don't see you around anymore.... -
Yep, you always have to place a 'player' character on the map first.

Death in wheeled vehicles when going down slopes
EDcase replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thats why we love BIS :inlove: -
ARMA never uses 100% CPU or GPU full time so don't worry. The CPU will get more loaded the more AI are in the mission. On the last screen you are getting 59fps which is damn good.

ATI users - how do you force v-sync off for Arma:CO?
EDcase replied to bono_lv's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
