  1. hi there, i have following question about the A.C.E. mod: is it possible to install and play this mod without six-updater? for me, sorry to say this, six-updater ist very uncomfortable and complecated, i try to install it like its described in the ace-mod website, but it make only problems for me. i dont play online, so i dont need six-updater, i think the concept of six-updater is in first line for online/multiplayer. it would be fine if you release this mod without six-updater or make it possible to install and run it without this program. for me it pains me really, because ace mod seems to be really great, i see the videos and they impressed me, and i liked the ace mod for arma1 very much.

    Gore Limb Dismemberment Mod? WIP?

    i think a gore mod will be great. i prevent us to forget the real cruelety of war. most of the war games trivialize war and let the people forget that war is a very bloddy business. try "merciless matador" for call of duty 2, ok it is a little bit "overgored" but it puts back in mind how cruel the nature of war in reality is. as i played it i thought "holy shit!" and remembered a story my grandpa telled me as i was a kid. he was on the eastern front line and became order to man a forward observation point. he followed this order with fear, because forward observation is very close to the enemy. he took some men and leave the trenchline, sneak to the observation post. some minutes later the russians started a heavy "stalinorgel", rocket artillery barrage. as he and his men come back to their trenches he told me "first i thought they ran away, it was early in the morning and not much light. but then i see were they are - they are hanging all around us, the torn apart bodys were hanging on the trench walls" his whole unit get killed in this long artellerie barrage, he and his two men where the only ones who survived this, because of this order to go on the observation outpost. he was totally shocked, he started to vomit and to cry because THAT was not a very nice sight to behold. he dreamed very often about that. some of the dead "men" where nearly untrained kids from the "hitlerjugend" - hitleryouth. to see this kids dying for nothing, for a lost war, for some crazy fuck-ups like hitler and the other criminals, that gave him the rest i think a gore mod keeps that in mind, how cruel war is and makes us more crititcal to the reality and the politicans who send the soldiers often very careless into real war. i makes a war-game to an anti-war-game.

    Arma feedback thread - based on 1.11

    whats up with the gunners in helicopters? they are some kind of......very dilettantic on ground targets. they dont hit any ground targets, they allways found not the correct aim. so you can fire the whole magazine on a groundtarget and nothing happens - the enemy soldiers sit in their tank and die only from laughing about those ne'er-do-well gunners! as far as i see this problem accours only on ground targets, not in air-to-air combat. it makes my a little bit confuse, because that problem is in the game since the god old ofp and i think it is get even worse in arma. and its get worser with the new patch. i hope the bis guys find a solution for that.

    FFUR 2007

    got it. thanks for this mod. im a big fan of the ffur packs. i love it! but there are some things i have to criticise. the new fire, smoke and explosion effects are looking not so good like in the older ffur packs. thex look very unnatural, specially the shockwave effect looks very strange, because real shockwaves are really fast. some weapon sounds are also a bit strange. i.e. the russian mg. its sound is to much TOKTOKTOK. the guns of the american tankcrew sounds also very strange. theres to much echo and reverb on the shots, specially in burst mode. i know thats natural, but its better to use dry samples for that. and the soundsample is not cutted right - in the last millisconds you can hear a guy starting to speak. another thing is the ÃœBER-AI, they are much too strong! thats not realistic. no one shoots so precisely in real life. maybe on a shooting range - but not in combat with an overdose adrenalin in his blood and some sleepless nights in mud and no hot food for some days;-)

    oh god - this mirrors are all totally slow, between 5 and 20 kb/s - thats horrible....

    Main campaign way, way too short? (Spoiler!)

    the arma campaign ist boring and confuse. theres not really a story and it seems that the missioneditors were only halfhearted on their work! the should earn some kicks in their asses for that. sorry for this hard words, but thats what i feel when i think of the ArmA campaign.

    Helicopters in AA

    helicopter control is much to hyperactive and unrealistic. it uses only 10% oft the joystick amplitude, so it makes control to a puzzle and not a fun. control is oversensible und hyperactive. best helicopter control i see ever in a game, was in the "desert combat" modification for "bf1942". it was really challenging, but a great fun and much more realsistic than what we have in ArmA. please fix it, BIS
