what would be cool,, I mean really cool,,, is if you could make and Island with a water-way (mississippi) going through it. A north south side if you will,,,, then put a railroad along both sides and curve inland a ways. I could see it now,,, rail-cars with cannons mounted and full of troops. that would be an epic battle,,,,, The Mississippi would play into the west scene also,,, Once the cowboys tore it up in Kansas,,, they took a rail to Kansas city then road a steamboat to Texas and Louisiana into the french quarter.... I would be all over it ( former map maker DDz Bloodhound) but I am wrapped up in this movie deal for the next months... then I can get enough money to help my (over-the-pond allies) and go international. keep up the excellent work men,,, I'll be in the bathroom..

The fun and mystic part of the Wild West was the fact that it was imprompt,,, ya never know what was going to happen next. Get drunk and shoot someones cow for fun,,, happened. Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp along with others FAKED a  baby beauty contest and all the church women all put up their fine looking babys for the contest held In DODGE CITY. Well they rigged the contest and made sure a huge black baby won the money. The very large Black woman excepted the prize money and pissed the church people off,  Wyatt Earp and Bat Matserson were like everyone else,,,,,,,,                     funny and unpredictable like your MOD will be. don't worry about being "cartoony",,,, thats what we want.. Ben Thompson was another badass who wore a badge and you could tell if he had been drinking that night by the row of street lanterns shot out by him when he walks home at night drunk.       Ben Thompson was a texan  but was born in ENGLAND  so lads,,,your country is as a part of the wild west as USA,,, don't ever forget it,, along with the rest of the Islands and Europe.  Peeing on someones horse saddle after drinking ment a gunfight....

great work men  great work Hunter.... I understand you eventually want to add some "Western" eliment to this.  It will be easy to do since Quatrill Raiders were southerners who each had some tragic event happen to them from Union soldiers during the war and formed a gang. They Killed all the women and children in one town durning one of their raids i Belive it was Elizibethtown. There's also the "RED LEGS",, another rebellion group who fought against Quantrill Raiders. There were some epic battles on the west side of the Mississippi but labled as masssacre's Bloody Bill Anderson was from Quatrill Raiders and Jesse James was part of this group as a kid.  Buffalo Bill Cody was a red leg as a kid. John Wesley Hardin killed 3 Union Soldiers right after the war. Many "western outlaws and Lawmen" became who they are from this civil war. Wild Bill Hickok was another  I say add "Quantrill Raiders" for the South. Why Western outlaws and Lawmen??  simply put,, we shoot the major motion picture in May/June,,,Same producer from the movie "Tombstone" is producing this film.  The same man that MADE the guns for the Movie "Tombstone" is making them for our movie also.  it is the first movie of Ten.... Big actors are already casted( (Jason Preistly),,. Locations are set to be in Kansas and California.  How do I know all this?  I wrote the script,,, set to be released winter of 2006. called "The gunfighters" (series) P.s. each movie is about true stories and true events,, right down to the arrest records... Authenticity is Key,,, keep up the good work...

as far as guns go,,,, you have most of the rifles already. for pistols,,, first model Dragoon 1848 cap and ball,, (right after the 44. Walker) oh, by the way cap and ball pistols are much longer to load then cartridges. for the conventional pistol, there were some that had long barrels and you just added a clip on butt to the stock and it's a rifle,,,, this is often mistaken for the Wyatt Earp "Buntline special" wich never existed. model no. 3 American Smith and Wesson 1870 1877 Colt Lightning,, double action,, ( rapid fire) other than that great work guys,,, can't wait till it comes out. I'm to busy getting movie ready to film,,,, to much to come on and chat much. good job..

great job on the western town. one last comment on the Brigade and regiment issue. After more research, "Brigades" were really considered "Campaigns". Using small individual regiments would fit perfectly into the scenerio. ( small team involved in big battle or long march) Brigades would make up of a series of battles just as a campaign would. Your doing an excellent job staying small at first,, GOOD WORK The Western town loooks good, To make things easier on the map maker, you can just have a stock series of "false fronts" that attaches to any series of stock buildings. Back in the day they ordered these buildings through a cataloge ( Sears, Montgomery Ward) and the train would haul them out, the minute a track was laid down. This is the reason for Dodge city to start off with a sod building,,, no train tracks yet. After they built the building, (on a narrow lot preplanned by railroad city officials) they would add later, their own "false front" to make it appear to be a different type of business, new attractive. Back in the day they wrote about how the saloons all had the same interior but the outsides were different. It messed with their heads sometimes. The 2 story buildings are the coolest but i imagine the hardest,, a couple famous hotels back then was The Great Western Hotel ( straight square no balcony) and Maxwell House, ( 2 ranch looking two story with workers quarters ) As far Indians go,,,, watch how you do it,, We only fought A COUPLE INDIAN TRIBES,,, not ALL the Indians,,, Only a few rebel indian tribes resisted and fought back (Midwest, from Mexico to Canada) Many Indian scouts from friendly tribes helped the calvary defeat them. sometimes a hundred indian scouts would go (Crow Indian) with a regiment. The Indians (Kiowa, Apache, Dakota's) attacked DURING the Civil War not just afterwards, just go ask Texas!!! this is the reason for the war remaining on the EAST side. When all the men were away fighting the war, the indians raided farms and hung babies from hickory trees by their throat, and captured woman as slaves. AFter the war, people started hearing the stories and they were outraged,,, thus the indian wars started shortly after,, it was another,,, Campaign for the White house. I am a Western researcher and if you have any questions i will be happy to send photo's of famous towns and buildings.

Here is the 1st infantry Tennessee http://www.first-tennessee.co.uk/origphotos.htm there are individual pics, I have notice alot of brigades in my searches. You could just do it by states and then name them later. each Brigade is named after the leader, "Grays Brigade" and so forth. There is 8 states on each side with a few mixed with both. Some were Volunteer regiments so they wore whatever they brought. In other words you can add a couple volunteer companys for scrubs anywhere in any state. The north had repeater rifles towards the end. It would be nice to have the option of retreiving their repeater rifle if the south wins a battle. Mind you not all companies had these and maybe a few men in each. The cannons could be like the tanks gun. you can either put a bunch of nails in it and fire like a scattergun or shoot a ball down the field. that will be cool. I'm looking for the louisaina tigers uniforms..

Hmmm interesting.  The ones you have posted seem to be from one web site. You are getting Officer uniforms mixed with Zuave uniforms. ( red hats) and etc.  Most regiments were a rag tag bunch of men. It was only the sponsered regiments that went all out with nice guns shoes and so forth.  shoes, it's nice when you find a pair that matches on the battle field other than that good luck. one question,,,Are you going to pack a wet uniform around or raid a farm and get dry goods and supplies and leave the wet crap behind?  (remember your walking) You bet your sweet Georgia brown you and the men are going to raid the farm.  this meant take the pennets and stick them on the newly found clothes. this made them all mismatched. Union regiments even raided their own farmland to keep up the push. This is where all the Outlaws stemmed from. They saw this decedence and fought back after the war ended.  some were mounted calvary, more than likely they had nice stuff, becuase they could afford the upkeep of the horses. more than likely sponsered, (by a rich guy with a lot of land) just get the grey and blue part down and you get the just of it. as far as the regiments go  Tennessee 1st infantry,, ( the fighting first)  Tennessee 9th mounted calvary The Irish Brigade,, from New YorK http://irishvolunteers.tripod.com/ 9th infantry unit from Louisiana "Louisiana fighting tigers"  http://tcc230.tripod.com/9thlainf/index.html you might be better off going by Brigade than Regiment, even by state sometimes.. Alabama and so forth. Each state had a brigade made up of many many regiments. anyways you have a very daunting task trying to tackle this project.  Keep up the fine work.  here is a civil war page,,, just one of many http://sunsite.utk.edu/civil-war/warweb.html#rosters
