    Userinfo.cfg

    I was reading the Userinfo.cfg page at the bis wiki and I'm not too sure how to use it. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">The userinfo.cfg is where all of the personalized game settings are stored. This file is located in each profile folder under C:\Program Files\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint\Users\YourProfileName and can allow you to setup multiple configurations based on each user profile. This configuration file reflects the settings as seen in the in-game settings, for graphics, sound and difficulty. [edit] Dedicated Server Notes When using a dedicated server, this file can be manually edited, mainly to use the correct difficulty parameters. Difficulty parameters are in the list below. 1 means "activated". 0 means "deactivated". Do I call this file when I exec ArmA_Server.exe? (i.e. server.cfg) My goal is to enable ultra armor for all missions on the DS. Thanks!

    That sounds great! But I am unable to find the file userprofile.armaprofile, not even in the bin.pbo. Do I need to generate this file with notepad and paste your example? If so, should I just place it in the arma root and ignore calling it? Thanks so much for your help with this. I thought it would have been easier to customize dedicated server difficulty settings.

    Whew.. So many emotions running around these boards it's making me a bit saucy. Yes, thank you BIS for making another kick ass game that allows us adults to play cool war games with few limitations. Keep up the great work! Â

    Great work! I really hope the GPS/mini map is optional though. Implementing it on a MFD would be even cooler.

    How is the AI?

    In my experience, the stock 1.02 AI isn't good. However, BIS said they would improve AI behavior in the next patch (1.05). Also with the new FSM editing, I think arma might have the best AI potential in a year or so after all the tools are released. Until then, the user Kronzky made a urban patrol script that allows you to make or play missions that have improved AI.
  7. I've been trying to get a AI controlled MH-6 to drop off the playables on a building then fly away. Every time I try, the chopper lands next to the building (hotel) instead of on the roof. When I give it a move command over the building it stops about a block away like it's afraid to go near the hotel. If someone could help with this I would really appreciate it.

    CTF and Armed Assault horrible

    IMO I think it depends on how the mission designer sets up the game. Most of the CTF I've seen are in wide open areas. Maybe you are searching for more of a "arena" style map/mission/plan? Maybe try to make a CTF mission where it's deep inside parisio and you seal off a 4-5 block strip? Maybe i'm not reading close enough before engaging my keyboard, but these seem to be your points: *Team work depended on getting a flag - I believe it still does. * This game suffers badly when it comes to CTF, it just doesn't allow you the skill and speed needed to get a flag like OFP did. - Are you saying that the animations take too long to grab the flag? How does it prevent skill? * Armed assault doesn't do this at all, its near on impossible to collect a flag and then tackle more then one player at a time. If your a confronted by more then one player you die most times. - I can't see how this invalidades ones expectations. Anyway, I just think that you would probably enjoy a shorter\faster CTF mission\map. /my 2c

    Don't get me wrong. I LOVE my tir4, but it does seem like advertising at the expense of another TIR thread and bis property. When I saw the video it made me think of a tactic from a used auto salesman (no offense to the guy in the video). But I guess if it helps another gamer discover something cool, FINE.

  12. But thats only naming the soldier right, and not the group? (would still display as 1-1-F etc then I guess?) I don't know, I've only read about it, but either way setGroupID doesn't take effect until the mission initializes, and so the group names at the MP selection menu would be the default ones, and they're automatically assigned in the order they are created the names aren't even stored anywhere, at least this was the case in OFP. I've been trying this but not getting anywhere. I checked the description wiki but it doesn't show a command where I can specify the group string. Do you have a link where you read this? If not I will have to wait till I play the mission that has this and unpbo it. Thanks.

    Cool mission exec! Here are some things I found that I think should be fixed. *At the start of the mission there are explosions that go off around the hotel. The problem is that it explodes a set of explosions for every client that is on the server. If we are playing with a few people it feels like we're celebrating the chinese new year and if someone joins in progress while we're trying to make our way north it sets off another set of exploisions. Maybe there is a way to have the server game logic trigger the explosions? *It's not your fault, but it's difficult to hold any kind of ground in the hotel. Enemies can shoot grenades INSIDE the hotel, along with bullets, spit wads, and huckleberries. Maybe change the position of the start point unit BIS gets this resolved? *A group of 8 was not able to survive/revive to make it more than 10 min into the mission, I love difficult missions but DANG! I think it would be better if we had real cover. *Not a bug, but I have to say that I think it's going to be a natural experience for there to be constatnt death matches on Loser Island. Kind neat. BTW I LOVE the short music in the beguining. I <3 Full Metal Jacket.

    A campaign reshuffle..

    I'm pretty darn sure that BIS is focusing on fixing problems and making the game run better. I would like to see someone (or a team) make a campaign that tops CWC or any other campaign once the bugs are squashed. Remember, BIS has a relativly small staff when compared with other devs. Let's see how fast we can make a better campaign.

    I realize this is a bit off-topic, but is the Cold War Rearmed package going to be a official BIS release (i.e. patch)? I think it would be better this way so mission designers can use the addons and have it be a "default addon" mission.
  20. I want to make a mission where the players on on the roof of a hotel and they must defend it from a mob of angry civilians. I have a group of 21 armed civilians that are told to run to a hotel and fight but it isn't working out so well. I tried adding <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">this SetUnitPos "UP"; this allowfleeing 0 to the init of each civilian but they still go prone, and stop advancing. I want them to RUN after the HOTEL and only stop if they are going to fire. I searched the OFP section very hard but find nothing that works for ARMA. I've tried making the waypoint MOVE, SEEK AND DESTROY, CARELESS, SAFE, COMBAT, etc. but nothing is working the way I want it to.

  22. Yes, I placed a invisible H on the roof and the chopper still landed beside the hotel. One thing I DIDN'T try was setting the height of the invisible H to the same level as the roof; I will try that tonight.

    TeamSpeak for Would be Editors

    What a splendid idea. The gang that I normaly hang with BeerDrinkingAssassins has a TS server with a ArmA mission making channel. They also have a dedicated ArmA server that runs pretty well out of Texas. Most of the members are adults with the average age being around 35. The TS & ArmA server IP is 75.126.40.135 I also run a dedicated server from time to time for testing missions in a dedicated enviroment so I can work out most of the bugs before requesting the mission to be uploaded to the main server.

    TrackIR use...

    Is what works for me is binding the "center view" key in the TIR software to something easily accessible (one of my mouse keys). When in doubt, re-center.
