E6600 @ 2.4GHz (awaiting a competent cooler to overclock with) X1950 Pro Mmmmm 2Gb Corsair PC8500 RAM Results! This is all on normal settings except post processing and blood which dont have that setting and are on low. On high settings all round (except Anisotropic filtering and shadows which were on normal...dont know why they were but I cant be bothered to redo it)...that includes full AA I got 2601: Results 2! These were both done at a resolution of 1024x768. I pumped up the res to 1280x960 and did the normal test again and I got just over 4000. Now im off to do some 3dmark06s... Im running Vista so I probably took a performance hit because of it. Damn resource hog...but so shiney...

That CPU and card should be more than up to the task of running ArmA at moderate detail.

Games works fine for me. Make sure you have the latest drivers. For the guy with the AGP slot you can buy an x1600 for around Å70.

My AA German download version won't start up now?

Have you updated any hardware drivers? What OS are you using? You didnt try to patch the game did you? -
Im posting this here because I couldnt find the bug list. I was playing on a server using the latest dedicated server version. I got into game as a machine gunner and all was well until I suddenly started losing control of my unit. It was like I wasnt in complete control. While typing my discontent in the ingame chat window I noticed that it listed my name as "Jim" (should have said "Praetorian") It seemed that another player called Jim had joined around the same time as me but had also taken the MGer slot somehow. We were both fighting over control of the unit...funny when you look back on it, but not ingame. Lol.

My ideal pc would be some quad core monster but im realistic. This is the PC im going to put together soon: Core 2 Duo E6600 (gonna overclock this) 2Gb Corsair DD2 Ram X1950 Pro 512mb WD Raptor 74Gb drive + the spare drives from my old comp.
-
No they have much faster these days. My cpu is an old socket 754 processor, single core. 2.4G.Hz

This is ArmA running at medium settings on my aging S754 AMD64 3700+ rig.
-
For my new computer im considering either an x1950xt 256mb or an x1900xt 512mb. Would ArmA benefit by the extra ram or should I just save money with the x1950? I put ArmA in bold as its the main game I intend to play.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but the doors on the top of the tall office blocks only open a tiny crack. It is very hard to get through them. Have to do some nifty laying down. German download ArmA 1.01.

Correct me if im wrong, but didnt the linux server for ofp get released after the game was released? I believe one is planned so be patient. @Lange If ArmA runs slowly for you on that PC then you are doing something wrong. It runs fine for me: AMD S754 3700+ @ 2.4GHz 1.5Gb Ram ATI Radeon X800XT (AGP) SB Audigy 4

That only happened to me when I tried it in daylight..are you sure it was night time? Lol.

Was thinking about going to core 2 aswell, but as I was reading that AMD will have reversed hyperthreading soon, I am thinking about to wait for AMD K8L design, either dual or quad, and take my advantage of spreading 1 thread over 2 or more cpu's, as such i'm not going to upgrade from Athlon 64 to Intel now, but probably just take a faster s939 cpu and wait how it turns out in 6-12 months when Intel Quad and AMD Quad are coming more into the market, while I hope this means also the introduction of reversed hyperthreading Sorry for the slight-offtopic Wasnt that something that the inquirer made up?

Ummm it doesn't work that way. AMD64 X2 3800+ dualcore processor has two cores running at 1.8Ghz each. AMD64 3700+ singlecore processor (earlier 954 socket model) has 1 core at 2.0Ghz Yet thanks to the new socket, extra cache etc. even the single core of X2 processor is faster than the single core of a AMD64 3700+ Im afraid you are a little off there. If you mean 939 the 3700+ clocks in at 2.2GHz. At socket 754 (This is the EXACT cpu I have btw) it clocks in at 2.4GHz, and my ArmA runs sweetly. Upgrading to an E6600 soon hopefully.

Why not a humvee?
