  1. I'm guessing the answer should be "yes" since the ARMA2 patch 1.07 in OA 1.52 is the same one we all download anyway.
  2. I patched ARMA2 to 1.07 first, THEN bought OA and installed that, and OA only came with patch 1.06 for ARMA2. It failed the patch for ARMA2 since I already had 1.07 installed. OA patch 1.52 is the one containing the ARMA2 1.07 patch.
  3. I get this problem intermittently. I tried everything I could think of - removing LOCKED framerates, adding or removing the cursor during record, half size or full size... nothing "fixed" it. Sometimes it's a 1 FPS slideshow. Other times it records ok around 25 FPS. FRAPS v3.2.3 ARMA2 OA v1.52 AMD X64 5000+, 4GB RAM, Win7 32-bit (yeah I know, I have wasted RAM), ATI 5750 1GB DDR5 card.

    Dated audio

That's what I thought too when I first heard the sounds. It just reminded me so much of OFP that it didn't even bug me. I couldn't turn on Hardware acceleration for audio in ArmA though, it'd crash my game all the time. Since switching to software mode, ArmA's been fine.

How did you come to be playing OFP?

I happened to download the demo before OFP was released. I remember it was still back in 1999 or 2000, way before OFP was due to be released. I remember the demo as being the "mission 5" of the campaign, the one where you get into the jeep and drive around. Anyway I couldn't get the demo to run initially so I thought "Screw It, I won't buy the game" but I noticed that even though I may not have the correct version of DirectX (couldn't remember if it needed DX7 or DX8) installed, it could use Glide, where at the time I was using a Voodoo2 card. So I switched to Glide, played the demo, and went "Heeeyyy this one's cool, gonna get it when it comes out". About a year later it was released, and I bought it.

    Script Editing Language

Hi guys, Something I have been wondering but never seen it specifically brought up is the scripting language - will it remain the same as in OFP now, or will it change? I'm just thinking that if the scripting language remains as it is now, it means the people making mods and missions now do not need to learn a new language, and they can just continue to do so. However, the language isn't really "friendly" to the new modder/mission maker guy, ie he needs some time to get used to the way the scripting language works, ie the current scripting language different from "normal" programming languages eg C/C++, Java etc.

    Mission Editor

I just would like the scripting language to be very close to C or Java kind... For example, in Neverwinter Nights, the scripting language was so close to C that many people didn't even need to "learn" how to use it.. they just needed a reference on all the functions and they can knock up a mod real quick. The one in the original OFP take some getting used to

    Has anyobody tried 3d Glasses?

I'm a veteran 3D glasses user and here's what I can say about them: On CRT - incredible! Things really look impressive and real, you can literally reach out with your hands and try to grab them. The monitor really seem to have depth and objects inside there are at the various depths. I have played the entire OFP and Morrowind as well as numerous other games in full 3D though them. On LCD - sometime this year (2005) my old CRT finally gave out, so I had to buy an LCD monitor because there weren't anymore CRT on sale at the local computer stores. Along with this, I purchased an LCD-capable pair of 3D Glasses. However I am disappointed with them. The effect, although still pretty convincing in terms of depth perception, things just look... blurry. On LCD, the drivers had to be put into Interlaced Mode, so things just looked much much darker, fainter, blurry. I was so disappointed that I uninstalled the glasses and put them away There was, for example, very limited ways to adjust stereo properties, eg convergence, backplane etc... hence while there may be some stereo effect, it is not as "WOW OMG WTF" as on a CRT.

    3D Glasses and OFP

Looking at the date of last post, it's been 3 years since Current info - 3D Glasses with LCD monitor support is now available, and I am once again playing OFP in full, true, 3D! Of course, check out the e-Dimensional website for details.

Lack of missions in Operation Flashpoint

Perhaps, the answer lies in this - "Open Ended Missions". For example, say a basic "Assault the base" kind of mission. You don't necessarily make a "linear path" in which the player must go through. You put specific objectives and let the player decide how to accomplish them. Some games utilising this kinda technique are: Dues Ex, Thief, Neverwinter Nights, Independance War 2 - Edge of Chaos. Each "Problem" has multiple solutions. The player is free to decide how to solve the problem. So in the basic "Assault the base" all you need to do is think like a soldier occupying a base in an enemy territory - what would YOU do? How would YOU place your men around the place to "look after it?". That is how you place the "enemy forces". Then you start the player and his squad/platoon somewhere and tell him - "This is the base, you gotta capture it. Good luck, see you!". Well just my thoughts.

    Page file

I think perhaps he meant 1024MB... Well even with just 1024 MEGABYTES (ie 1 GB) of RAM, my swapfile is only 128MB. I have been keeping an eye on the swapfile for various games for awhile, and at the most, only about 18MB (yes 18 Megabytes) of it has been used for random stuff. Most times my 1GB RAM is hardly filled up more than 800MBs of stuff. The utility I used to do this is Cacheman from http://www.outertech.com/. Err I mean to monitor. Cacheman contains loads of handy tweaks too, though I use the monitoring part to keep track of my memory usage.

    GREEN or GREY screen error...

Yeah you said it.. I had the same problem here too and the -nomap thing fixed it EVEN THOUGH I do not have any 3rd party add-ons at all... it's a fresh install of OFP, Red Hammer and Resistance... I switched to a new computer and suddenly I got this weird grey screen and I came here to find some help... and the very first thread I see contained the solution Way to go guys! You rock!

Ofp civilians (us) vs vbs army (them)

From what I gather, Singapore's Army is using OFP as one of the training tools... and encouraging our soldiers to go out and buy OFP for themselves so that they can "practice". Right now it's in the very preliminary stage, it's kinda like "exploring" how they can save costs on logistics by having some training done on "simulators". OFP is one of those "simulators" the army here is thinking of. There are 3 others, (Army Operations is another game they are using as "simulators"). Well, like I said in some posts a long time ago, the size of the targets through the iron sights in OFP is wrong... IRL I can see and hit targets 300 metres away fine.. in OFP, anything over 150m is hard to see, much less hit! At 300m, a man standing is the same height as the foresight tip IRL.. in OFP.... a man standing at 200m is already shorter than the foresight tip.. the engine doesn't do scaling properly...

    Ofp with 3d glasses

Hey people... More updates.. I don't know if this is true, but finally I upgraded from Win9x to Win2k... these are the difference I found with OFP and 3D Stereo... 1) Stereo Hotkeys REALLY do NOT work! You gotta set Stereo to be "Enabled" in nVidia's control panel before you run OFP before the hotkeys work... In other words, if you set it to be "Enable by hotkeys" and you go into OFP, you can't activate stereo... only when you set it as ENABLED, then inside OFP you CAN enabled and disable fine.. strange. 2) When my iron sights started out being rendered as one single solid piece of graphic, I realised that it shouldn't be so, since it was splittable under Win9x... so I hit the ALT-F10/F9 and CTRL-F10/F9 combo to move the monitor depth and backplane, and viola!~ The iron sights split! That's about it... hope this info will be useful to some of you out there...

Also, I don't use Win2K or WinXP for gaming....they are really not cut out to play games. The only reason why I still have WinME installed on this PC here - for games.

    Ofp with 3d glasses

Hi people.... It's me again.... with something new regarding 3D Stereoscopic OFP. Seems that now, with Resistance, I am finally able to see a difference when I adjust screen depth and backplane (CTRL-F9/F10, ALT-F9/F10). With these "new" controls working, I managed to tweak more "depth" to my games, ie now instead of just mucking with stereo separation and convergence, I throw in the backplane adjustments into the mix. What I get now is a "deeper" OFP world... where people and objects will pop out even MORE than before.

I could have sworn they worked back when I didn't know any better and had HW TnL turned on... the only problem with HW TnL on is just that the smoke and some other particles are at the wrong depth, usually giving me some eye-watering scenes Running with HW TnL off fixes all the "wrong depth" and "iron sights not working" problems, well, at least in my case.

Lowering the resolution will make the game look a lot worse or the 3D glasses pay you off for this compromise?!<span id='postcolor'> Trust me on this - even if you DO lower it to 640x480, you won't think that it looks bad. The 3D Effect more than makes up for it. Besides, eversince I've started playing games in 3D, I've never activated any sort of anti-aliasing. The jaggies suddenly "disappeared"... Anyway rest easy - with your system specs as given, you only need to lower to 800x600. You may even continue to play at 1024x768 if you want to, meaning if you don't mind the slight slow-downs due to 3D...

    Ofp with 3d glasses

All I can say is - good thing I didn't install XP... hehehhe! Anyways, I just found out (with another game, not OFP) that if you set the backplane or the monitor depth too near/far, your glasses will never seem to "activate", ie the picture doesn't split. The only way I could tell it WAS working was that the gamma had increased and my glasses WERE flickering. A quick ALT-F10 and CTRL-F10 fixed it and split the scene. Just thought you guys might want to know.

What refresh rate do you consider an acceptable minimum for using the glasses?<span id='postcolor'> Personally I am running at 800x600 at 85Hz. My monitor can't do >100Hz at anything higher than 640x480, so I decided 85 is not too bad. Besides, I don't get the headaches other people do, and I can play literally for hours without feeling sick. Once I'm engrossed in the game, the flickering doesn't bother me anymore

Does this include, Hay stacks, burned out rusted wrecks and fuel stations?<span id='postcolor'> Yesiree Bob! EVERYTHING. Anyway as I said before, and I'm gonna say it again, the only problem I had with my old GeForce2MX card was just the smoke and some lights being at 2D. Even back then, my FUEL STATIONS were not 2D objects, so I'm rather puzzled why some of you said the fuel stations were 2D objects. So, before anyone else writes and asks me the same question, read the sentence below: EVERYTHING IN OFP IS IN 3D NOW, NOTHING IS RENDERED IN 2D ANYWHERE. THAT INCLUDES SMOKE, TYRE TRACKS, LIGHTS, FUEL STATIONS, HOUSES, HAYSTACKS, BUSHES, TREES, SKY, WRECKS, DEAD BODIES, NAKED LADIES, BABIES IN DIAPERS, TOURIST WITH CAMERAS AND WHATEVER ELSE YOU MIGHT WANNA ADD Â How I am configured: 1. Not on the screen? <span id='postcolor'> I'm not too sure what you mean, but just to re-iterate - now, with my current setup, NOTHING in OFP is rendered in 2D. Everything has depth, meaning everything is at the correct "depth", or "distance". For example, if there's a firepit that is lit, the smoke coming out from it is OVER it. With my old GeForce2MX card, the smoke would seem to be "stuck" on the monitor screen, and since the firepit itself is further "inside" the monitor, the smoke and the firepit doesn't "join". As I said, that problem has mysteriously disappeared for me now.
