Beta build 71275 is up!
Dead3yez replied to NoRailgunner's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Yes, the beta comes with an ArmA2server.exe ;) Nope. But clients having it as well shouldn't hurt. ;) -

I'm getting crashes too, quite frequently but not game-breaking. I've noticed this usually happens to me when just after receiving data on MP missions. Next time it happens I'll be sure to post the files and more info. :)

Low Level Lod Ground When 'Very Low' Grass
Dead3yez replied to michail's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Check my sig guys. I have a suggestion about this stuff. ;) -
Just got a new PC - still cannot play this game!

Try defragging if you haven't already. That sometimes works for few. In the meantime: http://armaholic.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=6713 -
At the moment object draw distance is set by the viewdistance. I think it works fine how it is and performance, at least doesn't seem to be impeded so much by it. The only problem is that at lower viewdistances/fog objects have a habbit of suddenly popping up out of nowhere, which just looks sloppy and should be fixed. And also, there is a suggestions sub-forum, incase you didn't already notice.

Since my SSD is only 30gb I've recently moved some files to a mechanical HDD, to conserve space. I have kept everything relating to the islands/environment and the anims.pbo on my SSD. Everything else, such as vehicles/weapons/misc, I have moved onto the mechanical drive (stuff that should use less read "bandwidth"). I think that this has made things a little more efficient, I can save space on my SSD and still have nice - if not nicer - lod switching and load times. The only disadvantage is having to move the files back when patching.

No idea. But, what have I have noted from other's observations is that the effects of AI processing seem to be less damaging on Intel processors and more so on AMD. Am I assuming correctly that you are using an AMD processor? Now with beta patch things seem less 'stuttery' with AI than before and I'm very happy that FPS is restored when AIs are dead.
-
Hasn't anyone played domination or any other intensive AI multiplayer missions recently? :D MASSIVE FPS increases due to the dead AI no longer using as much processing power. :) I think some of you guys need to get out of the benchmark missions.

Campaigns: Moving to new HDD Problem

activeKeys[]= { "BIS_SPB1", "BIS_SPB2", "BIS_SOM_INFO_HINT_1", "BIS_SOM_INFO_HINT_2" }; in the name.arma2profile there are some lines like that? Try copying this section over..... (i think) Honestly haven't tried, i just have a good feeling this is the solution. :D -
So, the game sucks because you can't pass the first tutorial? :| Patch 1.05 didn't let you join any non-addon servers? Are you sure you've applied it correctly?
-
Uh? You can use W+Shift or E ? (default) if this is what you're talking about, they work and should make you go faster.

So, you spoke to Dwarden...... :459:

I can't make it this Thursday. Sorry about that. Might pop-in later on Monday.

Drop weapon option in Vehicle ??
Dead3yez replied to pravinrocks4u's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
no. :D -
As most people know, terrain detail on high settings cripples performance on most PCs. If possible, I am suggesting a separate option for the grass detail; that the actual LOD detail for grass is controlled by a different setting in the video options UI. (If not possible make it possible ;) ) . This suggestion will mean that terrain grid (grass draw distance) can be increased with less impact on performance, without having to sacrifice object detail or any other setting. Pros: Increase immersion and visual satisfaction without loss in performance. Less suffering on servers with forced grass on. Means you don't have to lower other settings like the object detail. Cons: None. :D Just to give some idea of performance differences I have took screenshots comparing the grass at different details. I have used a view distance of 500 to minimise the effect of the detail of other objects interfering with FPS between the shots. High detail - 15FPS Low detail - 39FPS More shots Give the ticket a thumbs up if you are in agreement, give feedback if possible and check for a little more concise information: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/9771 As a side-suggestion, remove wind animtion from lower detailed LODs in distance.
-
Check my sig. There is one. :D It didn't really take away the animation, just set affecte by win to 0. Besides, not sure it would do much on your system. On my old system it worked wonders.
-
Another idea perhaps worth mentioning is to remove the wind animation from the lower lods of the grass in the distant. It isn't all that noticeable, and if taking away the animation has any performance increase then I think it's worth it. Of course, if you zoom in on the grass a high LOD will load and you will see the animation again.
-
I think animations (wind) should be removed from lower lods of trees, same with grass. If this would give any performance boost then it's definitely worth it I think. It probably won't help certain trees close-up, but overall it might help.

Some of you guys never voted up on the dev-heaven site, which matters most.
-
Fairly simple: Magenta for direct channel communications. Avoids confusion with command channel. Magenta stands out well, so you know that someone near you is the one talking this way and is probably not something to ignore. vote it up: http://dev-heaven.net/issues/10585 Oh, and if you're for it. Don't let the thread die. :p

Research: What kind of entertainment you prefer?
Dead3yez replied to jerryhopper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
2 sounds interesting for arma Although, for television prolly infotainment. Voted two though, because i tihnk it'd be pretty entertaining with arma -
gun > boar. gun > elephant. gun > wolf. gun > velociraptor? gun = t-rex? Pretty sure that a gunshot itself would scare most of them away. with you on this. Deer would have been nice to see running through the woods in Chernarus.
-
Just imagine this. You are in the woods in Chernarus, you are hunting down the escaped velociraptors. You see one in the distance and you are about to shoot, in this moment you notice another velociraptor in the bush beside you which then jumps out and eats you.

Tracer (they dont show when incoming)
Dead3yez replied to Dead3yez's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
I have fixed it using a proxy for the tracer. Now, I could use some help getting the proxy in the correct position? [edit] Well, proxy appeared (2 meter?) Below where it should have done, I just moved proxy higher so it's in right position. With the proxy, it looks like maybe they can't be seen from the side? But not so much a big deal now I think.
