Are you going to run this again? Your write up is great and I'd really like to be involved with something like that (if you wouldn't mind).

As mentioned by Unknown, when in squad leader mode (i.e. you have at least one squad member to control) pressing . puts you in command view which enables you to pan the view around. This won't work on servers that have disabled external views.

I do so hate that use of stats. The same calculation that is used to describe the losses in the music industry as the games industry. It's total tosh. Just because 100 people downloaded/copied the game does NOT mean 100 lost sales for whoever. Those people may not have had any intention of buying the game in the first place, in which case nobody's lost anything. Indeed, they may have downloaded it and never even installed it. I've downloaded music to listen to before, according to the argument above that means people have lost money. No, they haven't because if I couldn't of downloaded it I wouldn't have bothered with it at all. So they wouldn't have had the sale anyway. If I do want/like a particular album/game I'll buy it. Now, before you all jump on your flame wagons I am NOT condoning piracy. It is wrong. I'm just pointing out that the method used to calculate losses due to piracy is inherently flawed and artificially inflates the amount of the losses. I am not saying that there aren't ANY losses due to piracy, there quite clearly are. It's just the figures are incorrect.

I have kids and would love to see this added to ArmA. I could then set up a mission where I create my kids, spend a while making them look exactly like them, give them the right clothes, etc. Maybe even name tags, whatever. Then I could get behind the biggest calibre gun I could find and blow them to pieces while screaming "That'll teach you to cost me money with your new trainers every 2 days and your fancy clothes that you play football in!! And as for your texting...". Ahhh, lol. Seriously, who cares? It's a game. Add them or not.

Evolution V1.0 Large scale respawn coop

Hi all, I have read this entire thread but it was over a period of weeks and I don't have the best...er...thingy...what's it called?...er...whatever...so sorry if the following suggestion has already been covered. I love multiplayer games and specifically team games, I also love ArmA so this mission is the dogs as far as I'm concerned. I particularly like running recovery missions driving repair/refuel trucks deep into hostile territory to bring back a damaged vehicle. But even I get slightly peeved when it's taken me 30mins to drive somewhere, cajoling a couple of AI to drive other trucks with me only to be killed by a single shot from a hidden enemy the second I step down from the cab. There's another mission out there called RTS4 and I think it's that one that gives the blackhawks the ability to have vehicles slung underneath them, so they can airlift them. This would allow a BH pilot to either carry the repair trucks to the site or bring the damaged vehicle back to base. It doesn't do away with the need to repair vehicles but does cut the time needed somewhat once the rank is gained to fly a BH (necessary when you have kids and a wife that don't understand you have to save the world before doing the DIY or help with the homework :/ ). I wouldn't suggest giving any points for this as it could easily be abused. What d'ya reckon? Keep up the good work anyway. Bob. -
Sorry! OMG, how embarrassing This was supposed to be a reply to the Evolution thread. Could an admin please delete this?

Fade isn't anything special. It just detects a false CD key. Makes me laugh when people further the Fade myth by bestowing mystical powers on what is only a computer program. Are you the guys that run outside with your PCs holding them at arms length when you get told it has a virus? And just to stop the flamers I have bought ArmA (and OPF).

Hear, hear on the medic points. I'd also like to see something for us poor guys that spend the time driving service and fuel trucks around repairing all those MH-6's for everyone else to use. I spend a fair bit of my time doing this (OK, I do enjoy it) but because I don't get points I never level up enough to fly the damn things back to base after repairing them. I've had games where I spent an age first driving a service truck to a helo, going back to base, driving a fuel truck to same helo and then letting the team know that the bird is ready, only to be completely ignored and no-one pick it up. Thanks for a great mission and keep it up (fnaar)! -
There's nothing to "fix", it's a feature.
-
Now that's just funny.
-
I love this mission, but only when there are some "proper" players and an admin around. TKers and base/vehicle wreckers ruin this real quick. Still never managed to play it to the end, usually ends up being restarted because of aforementioned vehicle wreckers.
-
Ah! That explains why you were asking about the weather the other night.
-
No, it was the chopper by the transmitter.

I was on that game with Ninjia^, we restarted the mission a few times but were never able to play it. As Ninjia^ says, for a better multiplayer experience ditch the intro. Also, a note as to how to open the chute for first time players would be nice (funny as it was just hitting the ground ). The only other problem we saw (mainly because we didn't get to play it! has already been mentioned - dying on your chute in mid-air. I also saw the helo just sitting there at the base when flying round as a gull.

Hi all, I'm a big fan of OPF and used to play MFCTI a fair bit, for me it was the perfect game type. I played it online but also over LAN and single player against AI. So imagine my excitement when I saw ArmA had CTI built in. I received my copy yesterday and jumped straight in, just me with AI against AI. Hmmm, hang on, how do I build stuff? No matter, I'll just jump in these ready placed vehicles and play. Right, I'll get my squad to load up and man the guns. Hmm, no squad. OK, I'll buy some troops. Err..how do I buy troops? How do I buy vehicles? Sod it, I'll just run off on my own and capture a town. Just get to edge of town and I receive a message that my team has won!? Damn, that's not right, I'll need to check the manual and that goes against the grain What a minute, no mention of the CTI gametype in the manual at all??? OK, I'll check online. What??!!? Same here too. So, here's my problem. How the hell do you play CTI in ArmA? Where are the intructions? Why does the game always end in victory after about 10 mins? What's going on!!!?? Thanks for your help.
