graphics bugs with ATI 4800 series (4850/4870/4890)
DrSnow replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Had a similar issue with new 11.11 drivers, flickering, picture shattering to black vectors... Rolled back to 10.9 with zero results. After that, removed all ati drivers and control center. Installed again 11.11. Works. Sapphire HD 4890 vaporX 1GB GDDR5 6 gigs 1333 memory AMD Phenom X II 3.2 GHz Win 7 64 bit -

Yoma, do we have any chance to get this "update" released to all of us? -
I voted no. I voted no to steam because that ton of c** that comes with it, but i'm not against DLC. I would much rather see shortest way possible between gamer and BIS. Just like i like to buy my music straight from the band from their site even it's a hardcopy or mp3. Atleast then i have a feeling that my money went to the right people. Hardcopys are expensive for BIS, agreed, but does it have to be? My opinion is that the engineer that invented this supersized, always broken when bought dvd casing, should be hanged to a tree from his balls and whipped to death. I personally don't need 100 pages of leaflets, maps and stuff, it's easily downloaded or read from a website. It's enough if i have the data on cd or dvd if i want. (I have atleast 20 cd's or dvd's packed in simple cardboard envelope and they have worked just fine for years now...) Br Snow OFP, OFP Res, Arma, QG, ArmaII and OA as hardcopys, BAF and PMC via sprocket.

Hi, Thanks for reply. Things got a little tricky. Because the isolation failed and the vault is empty i can't recover the file or grant pass from the F-Secure. It also denies my download because it sees this "adware" in the download. Edit: nvm.... New virus definition files fixed the issue...
-
Hi, I downloaded BAF from Sprocket on the first days it got out. Of course installed it right away and have played it since. Today F-Secure suddenly gave notice that it has found a adware (Adware:W32/Adweb.A) in BAFsetup.exe which it failed to isolate into virus vault. I tried to check if the exe file is still working, but could not locate the file anymore (not from virus vault or other F-Secure files either) so it's been deleted. This is a "false" ;) alarm i think but is possible to cause troubles for you also in the future, so take note from this and backup your .exe. Now. And keep order confimation in safe place. Now i must find out if i can recover my setup from Sprocket? ( where's that e-mail?...) Br, Snow

Berzerk maps should run on vanilla Arma... at least was running when i last played them... It might be high ping so check on server provider / squad webpages for any info for possible limits. Another, might be outdated Battleye, try manually update from website. Then there are those before mentioned firewall settings worth to go thru. Snow

DrSnow replied to gg1992_user's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Last version? .. is it 1.18? Should run fine... but if lower then it's most likely memory issue wll known.. here's the remedy for that... try it: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=84497&highlight=msconfig+limit+memory Tons of threads here about this and soundcard hickups..... Snow -

DrSnow replied to walker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Hi, Is this map pack available anymore? I just tried to download from get42.com... page not found :( -
@ GossamerS Have you tried to repair / update your sound drivers? and reinstalled the game without any mods after that? How about other drivers.. including OpenAL ? I have 64 bit Win 7 home premium (rig is less than 3 weeks old, so all divers are up to date except catalyst drivers which i haven't updated 9.12...yet.. and arma i works well...

If i remeber correct my friend had the same issue with 4GB and nvidia 8800 GTX.. Besides you lose nothing by trying it.... Hope you get it working. Snow
-
@ Stewy: it's a memory size issue.... http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=84497&highlight=msconfig+limit+memory Limit your memory size and it works ok. 1.17 beta works without this "tweak"...

The (un)Official Freetrack Users Q&A Thread
DrSnow replied to bushlurker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Its possible, but what i've heard (correct if i'm wrong) it doesn't work well. This is probably because Trackclip's vertical positioning of leds is not a straight line and you can't adjust this in FT's clip model. But if you buy a infrared camera and use vector clip, i think it would work just fine. Snow Edit: That was quick ;) Really? I had a impression that Trackclip would cause the movement work incorrectly, for example side shifting on vertical axis when turning your head. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

I have radeon 9600 series card now and it has worked always reliably, even with much criticized CCC, so 4890 seemed a natural choice... Basicly it's a matter of overall budget, allthough GTX is still an option if facts prove otherwise.... In that case i have to change the mobo also :/ What i don't want is a rig that is not comfortable to play with Ofp, Arma or Arma 2 (last mentioned i don't have yet). So youre happy with 48** series? Or is the highly praised Win 7 the key here?
