My G36E is almost finished. I'm moving onto texturing now. Problem is that for the optics I want to make transparent textures with the reticule on (...I think getting the reticule in the right spot and the right size will be a task all on its own ) for the optic. My problem is that the transparent texture I make seems to "hide" the faces behind it (in the optic "tube").... Is there a specific way to do optic textures (like the default BIS ones)? I don't want to make fullscreen optics like the default G36 ones....thats too OFP I hope what I'm trying to say makes sense. Im at work now, but will take screenshots of what I mean if need be. ..oh and my galil WIP

Jackal326'S CTRL+SHIFT+END worked like a charm. Thanks again. Just need to do the UV's and resize the actual reticle and maybe play with the zoom setting a bit.

Great, Thanks guys. I'll give it a try later. I knew it was probably something simple.

Any one that is capable of exporting to 3ds for importing to O2. EDIT: Seems the new O2 imports .OBJ files. Great news.

how to merge the uv maps and the textures?
Deftoner replied to Sennacherib's topic in ARMA : O2 MODELLING
What I do is.... Build the model Attach all components to one Convert to Poly Unwrap UVW modifier Set UV's with editor Use Texporter to save the UV's as one image. (I use TGA) Edit image Import 3ds file to O2 Select object => press "E" Set texture path to your file saved as .paa (With Texview2) Thats the just of it anyways... -

1.5X on the E version.... I still have to set it up properly....it was just a test to see how it looks in game German G36 has 3.0X optical sight and red dot. -

More like texturing, unwrapping, configuration etc. But please don't be concerned - I'm really not in the same league as the others on here. I just fumble about with vertices in Oxygen Lite making misshapen lumps which I deludedly call models. You don't need to necessarily do the texturing in O2, just use it to point the texture to the model Did a little more work last night, still lots to do: Put the model in game just to take a look....this gives a vague idea of the sights I have in mind (obviously more detailed and realistic looking): -
Does anybody know where the tree models are kept....which pbo? I'm sure someone could just lower their polygon count...much like the grass mods for Oblivion? Am i wrong?

Maya 7 Export to 3ds...import to O2....set up lods etc... Done! Yes, it's the "etc" bit that I'm having trouble with! What you having trouble with? The memory points? How to get things moving (ie mags and bolts)? -

Started last night: G36E.... and possibly a K. Idea is to have transparent mags working like the SwissMod....and optics in 3d (as opposed to the default 2d one) VERY WIP for now....need to add more detail. Thanks for the pointers SniperSkull -
8600GT is just a DX10 7600... its not the best...but does the job. Other games run great for me... I put ArmA's sluggishness down to poor coding in part. ...but yeah...what everyone is saying is correct, 7 series is better/faster. I got my 8600Gt as a business gift....so i really had no choice. Its just in place while I wait for prices to drop or something better to come out once DX10 games are a reality.

Obviously if you have the bucks go for an 8800....but at the price 8600GT OC is an improvement IMO.... I'm not one of those guys that counts his FPS.... the game runs smooth for me on (from memory...): vis: 1500 Terrain: low (still see some grass) Objects: normal Textures: Default Shader:low PostP:high AF: Normal AA: low (or none?) blood: low Game looks fine.... .Im more into the playability than running all graphics at max. Only slows down a little when there's A LOT going on.... but still perfectly manageable

My MSI 8600GT OC 256MB PCI-E works fine in ArmA. Cant set things mega high...but then again I don't think anyone can It does come factory overclocked though.. Just on a side note.... i get better performance with textures set to default and post processing on high for some reason...

The holy grail of ArmA: Disabling Post Processing

I don't think so.... unless that person does some reverse engineering...and creates a new exe you kinda answered your own question by saying "Hard-coded" -
Missing textures, could this be FADE?
Deftoner replied to the_bengine's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I just downloaded the Tweaks R us driver... I'll try it when I get home later. On both cards.. The textures sort of flash between low and high.....some textures don't appear at all (ie on buildings, sandbags, etc).... Changing the texture option to low and back to high again seems to fix it....sometimes. I must admit it does happen a little less on the 8600GT -

Weird thing is I had the same issue with my old 7300GS (crappy, i know )....so its not the card. The problem Is quite rare, but definitely happens. I'll try messing with the page file or maybe even my -maxmem=XXX setting.. I think the night vision flickering may be a coding or driver issue. -

I'm having the same sort of problem. Textures seem to disappear or just act weird after a few missions. Night vision occasionally flickers.... It seems to happen if you look through spinning rotors at the sun/moon too (with NV on). The card is an Nvidia 8600GT with latest Drivers -
Double tapping spacebar does the same thing.... its far easier and quicker.
