I've got a very annoying problem, like most only happens when dealing with multiplayer missions. To end my mission correctly I need to know which groups are playing, and as these can be human controlled they might not start at all (AI. turned off). Assigning a trigger to a group using the group tool (F2) won't work, as if the unit you linked with is disabled then it won't be able to locate the group (annoying bug). So to combat this I decided to make a simple trigger which does the same sort of thing. I have say (it doesn't matter how many), 6 units in a group. Numbered player1 through to player6. I then have a trigger which is 0x0 and the condition: (alive player1) || (alive player2) ... and so on This should activate when any of the players are alive. There is nothing clever here. Duely enough when the game starts it will activate immediately. But (there's always a but), if you then disable one of these characters at the multiplayer rosta screen it will not activate. It doesn't matter which one it is, it just simply doesn't work. In fact it acts exactly how you would expect it to if it was using && instead of || for all entries. I have also tried setting the trigger to when west present in 5000x5000 and using: (player1 in thislist) || (player2 in... and so on. This does not work, not does using 'canmove' instead of 'alive'. I am about to go potty over this subject so, please, please, please can somebody help me? Example of bug: ftp://ftp.aligrant.com/logic.Intro.zip (put in your users\<user>\MPMissions\ dir). Thanks in advance, Dash.

We are all used to the console idea from the Quake engine, but this is a very handy tool. For being able to make precise adjustments to your settings. A major bonus would be able to alter settings in mission building. American McGee's Alice had, what I have to say, is one of the best console ever. When pulled up your mouse can be used to drag it around like a window, resizing it etc. With the added bonus of being semi-transparent so you can still see what's happening when it's open. Just clicking off of the console, or some other cunning key to leave you with control of your mouse. Maybe ` (below Esc, traditional console key) to load a console with no mouse, and Shift+` to load it with mouse on the console not the game engine.

No entry problem on mission.
Dashers replied to Dashers's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Problem solved. I was deleting the entry in the post above, but I wasn't adjusting the number of items in the vehicles class. Thusly OFP was generating the blank one to fill in. -
I have just updated a fairly major mission of mine, and I'm rather fond of it, but I'm unable to play it because every time I try (either through the editor, as an exported (multiplayer) mission, or exported and uploaded to a dedicated server) it gives me this error: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">No entry 'config.bin/CfgVehicles.'.<span id='postcolor'> Exactly that. I've tracked it down to: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> class Item90 { position[]={0.000000,0.000000,0.000000}; id=0; side="WEST"; vehicle=""; skill=0.600000; }; <span id='postcolor'> I can remove this from the mission.sqm and load it up into the editor and it won't give me the error, but as soon as I save, or try and play it; it reappears. I've tried manually building a PBO file with MakePBO but I still get the error, even though the above is not in the mission.sqm. I'm guessing the server rebuilds it with the above in for some reason. This is really getting me down, I have put so much work into this mission and I want it to work. The only addons in use are those that a fully patched 1.91 client would include. I don't have any third party ones installed. Although, on a side note, I did and I got another error, but I removed that addon and the object referencing to it. I have put the mission on my FTP, please could somebody have a butchers at the code, see if they can find the problem? ftp://ftp.aligrant.com/flashpoint/2-18_C_ANGELS.Abel.pbo Thanks in advance, Dash.

I am about to put up a dedicated OFP server, but it's been such a long time since I've done dedicated server stuff (and then it was on an ADSL connection), so I'm a bit out of sync. MinBandwidth and MaxBandwidth. Is this in KBytes/sec? Bytes/sec, Kbits/sec? I'm presuming, by way of the server documentation it's bits/sec, but I just want to be sure. If so what would be an excepatble maxrate for a 100mbps connection? Theortically I guess it's MaxBandwidth=104857600; but I'm sure there are some people out there with experience with tweaking their configs. Regards, Dash.

I'm trying to get hold of the latest Linux dedicated server for OFP:R. But the link in the News forums is on the FTP server on this site. Which gives Permission Denied messages all the time. Does anybody know of a mirror, or would BIS care to allow people to start downloading from their FTP again?

Here's a few of mine: Another Sunset one Big Explosions? Close Call Very Close Call That feeling of despair? I've got plenty more, but I doubt you want to see most of them

Then there is Rainbow Six: Raven Shield and Splinter Cell being released soon... I don't think either of those lack gameplay. Although I have only played the Racen Shield multiplayer demo, but the Rainbow Six games are always good.

My last plee was locked as it's an old topic, I've searched, and most people point towards nice updates for Via etc. I'm not running on a Via system. I am running an Intel 845, with the latest drivers for the motherboard, graphics card and sound card. I don't care who's to blame, I just want a solution that'll help non-AMD & Via users.

I, as many other people I know, have a problem with vehicles. The sound crackles. Whether in one, or it's another one moving about. To fix the problem with the one your in, switching to 3rd person and back solves it. This is of course impossible if you are playing with 3rd person turned off (e.g. multiplayer). It seems to happen with systems with Creative Sound Blaster Live! cards. Creative being the people who develop EAX. Now without turning off EAX, because games really are a bit pants without it. Or turning down the hardware acceleration, is there anyway of fixing this bug, which only appears in Flashpoint?

I'm running 1.86 Win32 of the dedicated server on a 1GHz AMD, 512MB of RAM, Windows 2000 Server. It keeps crashing, in fact ever since I upgraded to resistance it keeps crashing. I've reinstalled several times, and it's still doing it. Could somebody help me locate the problem? My Flashpoint.rpt file gives me this: </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> ===================================================================== == C:\Servers\OFP\OFP_Server.exe ===================================================================== Exe version: Wed Oct 16 23:45:37 2002 file: Game001 world: Intro campaign: battle: mission: ErrorMessage: No entry 'resource.bin::RscInGameUI::RscHint::Background.size'. ===================================================================== == C:\Servers\OFP\FlashpointServer.exe ===================================================================== Exe version: Wed Oct 16 18:04:36 2002 graphics: No resolution: 160x120x32 Addons: CWKZodiacBO in cwkzodiac\, CWKZodiacCiv in cwkzodiac\ EditorUpdate102 in editorupgrade102\, CWKZodiac in cwkzodiac\ CWKZodiacCam2 in cwkzodiac\, LampBlue in streetlamp\, Bizon in bizon\, Su25 in su25\ CWKZodiacCamo in cwkzodiac\, 6G30 in 6g30\, BIS_WeaponPack in o_wp\ LampWhite in streetlamp\, BMP2 in bmp2\, Kozlice in kozl\, Steyr in steyr\ AH64 in apac\, CWKZodiacRescue in cwkzodiac\, Vulcan in vulcan\ LampYellow in streetlamp\, Hunter in hunter\, Kolo in kolo\, Mini in mini\ Trabant in trab\, G36a in g36a\, BRDM in brmd\, Ch47D in ch47\, HMMWV in humr\ LaserGuided in laserguided\, Noe in noe\, OH58 in oh58\, XMS in xms\ LampRed in streetlamp\, BIS_Resistance in o\, Flags1 in flags\, MM1 in mm-1\ Bradley in m2a2\ Mods: RES ======================================================= Date: 10/17/02 Time: 00:14:24 ------------------------------------------------------- Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 004506CD Version 1.86 Fault address: 004506CD 01:0004F6CD C:\Servers\OFP\FlashpointServer.exe file: 1-6_C_ROA451b (__cur_mp) world: noe Prev. code bytes: 8B 51 44 56 33 F6 85 D2 57 7E 16 8B 49 3C 8B 01 Fault code bytes: 8B 78 08 3B 7C 24 0C 74 0A 46 83 C1 04 3B F2 7C Registers: EAX:00000000 EBX:06F180A0 ECX:06F30514 EDX:00000002 ESI:00000001 EDI:00000000 CS:EIP:001B:004506CD SS:ESP:0023:0012E1DC EBP:0012E1F4 DS:0023 ES:0023 FS:0038 GS:0000 Flags:00010297 ======================================================= <span id='postcolor'> TYI. Anybody else with this problem, check your RAM. I replaced the RAM in the server and it fixed the problem.

Since I've upgrade my dedicated server to 1.75 I've had nothing but crashes. We though this was just buggy server code, but it still crashes all the time with 1.85. I've sent bis my crash details but no response. Does anybody else have this problem, or a solution? It's running on: Windows 2000 Server 1GHz AMD Thunderbird 512MB SDRAM UDMA100 Hard Drive 1GB Virtual Memory Abit KT7 Mobo It's really beginning to annoy me, and my punters now. I'm not getting anything being logged to the event log, which is even more baffling. Please please, could somebody suggest something? Regards, Dash.
