Please get rid of jpeg textures. It slows down many computers too much. Try to make good pac/paa textures. I know many people will not agree with me on this. I don't like addons that exclude people.

Information from BIS on *.pac/paa images: PAA/PAC ( 12 bit RGB + 4 bit alpha channer / 8 bit grayscale + 8 bit alpha channel / 16 bit DTX DirectX compressed texture format with optional 1 bit alpha channel) now I wonder if it is possible to create a kind of color table for graphic programs that only uses the colors that are available in pac/paa. I think it would help very much if you can be sure that it won't screw up the color completly when you convert it.

well it's still beta. And about RHS... they're not better! They let me wait for my favorite addon because hmm.. well I don't know. They pretend that they want to make a new crew for it but in reality they just don't want me to play with those excellent T-55's !!

the problem is it does look more like someone turned the brigntness to high rather than natural fog ;) For me it's a flaw. Maybe other people like it.

I made the experience that you can use big pac textures for 3D look too. When you have, let's say, a window part in 256x256 and you have some empty space in the textures you can use it for textures for smaller objects with very high quality which gives you a good "3d look". Example: picture -
this gets off topic ;) I just wanted to emphasise that OFP isn't a flight simulator and not everyone is a realty freak and wants to spend time learning how to land a helicopter almost blind. Some people just want to have fun. ;)

err I play OFP because of the game and that means I want 3rd person ;) If I wanted reality then I'd play MS Flight Simulator 2004 ;) This is OFP. Without 3rd person I wouldn't even be capable of landing a helicopter ;)

I think your pictures look amanzing but there are too many heavily edited pictures now for my taste. I'd like to see some more "blackdog style" pictures ;)

look what Suma said. JPEGs are only smaller because on the Harddisc they're stored compressed. But in the video memory (that's the critical point - as I alsways say) they're stored uncompressed wich can cause them to be over 1 MB. And as soon as you're out of Video Memory (pretty fast since most people don't have more than 64 MB) the lagging starts. -

hmm how do you edit BIS models? I remember a-lone-wolf was working on a tool that should allow this a long time ago but as far as I know it never got released.

Why? because I won't support jpeg textures. Not even with a GeForce 10 graphic card. I won't support AddOns that exclude people without huge video memory like me (it has nothing to do with FAST computers - i have an overclocked 2600 XP with 512 MB DDR-Ram - never used 100% of the ram.) It's not that you're only excluded if you have an old computer. No you need to have a high end maschine in every aspect. That's not ok for a game like this. Look at Marfy, he can make far better textures than those for the c 130 with pac/paa. And because I just can't play with it. In my eyes this is a very bad development of the OFP community. -

ahh damn! That explaines why I can't use many troops without getting serious LAG problems. First I thought it's because of the heat today. *deleting c130* -
Swith MFD switches the from map to something else on a display in the cockpit. But I think the map only works on official islands. SO on inofficial islands it might not work. It is mentioned in the readme that the gunner cockpit isn't fully textured yet if you meant that. @Shashman For the cargo space. Why remove it? The bug people get has nothing to to with the OFP engine. It's just because of the close door animation. I am sure they will solve this problem altough it didn't occur yet on my maschine.

I have the LAG problem. It happens when the plane is out of sight and then come into sight. Otherwise it's fine. But I still beg the creator to improve the handling of this thing. I don't care how good it is to fly with a joystick (yes I have one). Most of the time I will have the AI fly the plane.
