Hi there, I've made some squad.xml badges, and I would like them to have a transparent background. I've created them with Adobe PS8 and used Kegetys .paa plugin to convert the PSD/PNG files to .PAA. As you can see the .PNG files have the desired tranparency effect: I've been reading the XML tutorial on the Wiki, Kegetys readme for the plugin, and I have searched the forums. The PAA files I make load up nicely in-game but they have a white background, not a transparent one. How do I make them transparent ?

Vista 64 - Someone PLEASE help me!!
desertfox replied to midknight4's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Odjob .. talk to the hand .. the face ain't listening. I have no hatred against Vista, I am pointing out that installing a 32 bit WXP application, encountering problems, and then trying to get these problems sorted of the applications forum is retarded, because a) The problems are caused by operating system discrepancies b) The problems are caused by driver compatibility issues and because c) You can easily fix these problems by installing it under Windows XP ( As your game manual reads ) There must be 50 "Game does not run under Vista" threads. I fail to see why they don't get locked and a sticky is made. -
Vista 64 - Someone PLEASE help me!!
desertfox replied to midknight4's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
If you install DircetX 9 under Vista, you will install drivers that run in compatibility mode, thus leaving much of the rendering calculations up to your CPU. Do your homework. *EDIT* And for Vista64 bit this even goes twice, because you also have to emulate the 32 bit environment. -
And here goes the millionth person with an AC97 onboard soundchip. - Download and install the Drivers from Realtek ( Link is in sticky "Winmm.dll error" thread. - Afterwards install the Open AL thing. - If you have any K-light codec packs installed, uninstall them to avoid sound artifacts.

Vista 64 - Someone PLEASE help me!!

Vista comes with DirectX 10. If you want to play DirectX 9 games .. install XP. Doh. -
Basically all Vista drivers are still new. Picking the most recent version should be the choice at hand. And as always: ArmA Ain't meant to run under Vista. Use it on your own risk.

Problem: Error through overclocking. Solution: Reset frequencies back to default. Seriously, as much as I understand the fascination about hardware tuning, and as much as I am aware of frequency just being a matter of temperature and thus cooling - changing the manufacturer default clock speed settings always have the risk of rendering your system instable.

1.05 patch install errors...sigh
desertfox replied to oddball_woof's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Which has been written from the start in the readme, website, wiki etc. that Official Gamepatches will need the language patcher removed, aswell as help was written down on how to proceed It is also globally written in the bis-patch info that you need unmodified game-content People don't wish to read, so yeah .. own fault if ur messing with such problems for a couple of days and no-one else to blame than one's self Couldn't have said it any better lol -
Corrupted file. - Downloaded ArmA version => Re-download it. - Installed from CD => Re-install it. In any case you should do a Checkdisk, might be a foulty HDD sector.

That's the way we all fire m136 It definitely isn't. At least I don't have to aim that way. I'll hit anything up to 200 meters on the mark. Have to aim slightly higher for longer distances, but I always see my target.

Can you show me where someone said that on the forum ? Actually I have the impression that there are many useful discussions about features and aspects of Armed Assault going on. Additionally, a search for "Artillery" would have brought up THIS

1.5 -No sound, blue screen hard locks
desertfox replied to callaway's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have an Asus board with Nforce II chipset and AC97 onboard sound. Could not run ArmA with Nvidia or Asus drivers. Newest Realtek drivers fixed the problem for me, but I am still experiencing very weird sound issues in MP. Sounds fade out, gun sound is not present, or, when I fire my machine gun I hear a repeated "Ei ei ei ei ei ei ei" Instead of the gun sounds lol. "Ei" When one of the previous radio messages that I heard started with "Eight .." for example. Complete mess. -
Let's see .. 100.000 people installed the game .. and only *you* are experiencing this issue. I think it must be a bug in the game !!

Internet Script Errors while tring to launch game
desertfox replied to cyclone's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
You don't even post your system specs. Do you think people can rub a crystal sphere and know your problem ? I bet this is some sort Script blocking security software... Norton Internet security .. something like that. *EDIT* Try installing Firefox and set it as standard browser. Just a guess. And whatever security tools you are running .. deactivate them. P.S. Before *I* had started to write support emails and wait a couple days, and whine about it, I would have installed Windows from the scratch .. but that's just me .. -
I have a positive feedback on the patch. Here's what I think is best: - New ironsights are brilliant. - Stryker driver view !! Weee !! - Menus don't look like Amiga anymore. Especially the new MP browser rules. - You can't simply run through all bushes anymore as if they were paper, yet you can shoot through them. - I can feel a slight performance increase. Upgraded from 1.02. Still suffer from the ATI driver bug though. - Game has not crashed to desktop anymore yet, but I restart after an hour because of the above mentioned bug, so that might play a role too. I did not get around to test the new stuff yet, but I'll definitely do this later in a comprehensive check. Good work so far BIS - love the game more each day. -Thumbs up-

1.05 crashing after 5-10 mins of game play.
desertfox replied to johnwilso007's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Agreed. Could be the memory leak in the ATI driver. However, I am only affected by this in terms of my game getting laggy after an hour so I have to restart ArmA. -
@ Frozina - If I see that correctly, your mainboard comes with on-board gfx chip. Try disabling it in the BIOS. - You have an AC97 sound chip which caused my game to crash. Try this driver: AC97 Driver from Feb/2007
-
Might be caused by a firewall issue. What firewall or internet security software do you use ? Are you using the on-board ethernet adapter ? Router config ?
-
Buah buah I installed the game on my Linux box and it does not run !! Buah buah !!
-
Please post your mainboard types.

Try updating your AC97 drivers from the Realtek site itself. Worked for me.
-
Try Deleting the Arma.cfg from your My Documents/Arma folder.

Community Need: Universal Website for resources.
desertfox replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I'm currently revamping my old OFP editing/map site. I am planning to set up a site that is dedicated to Armed Assault editing. The goal is to offer realistic maps that are as close to "real" combat operations. Additionally I would like to offer editing tools for Arma, such as scripts, tools and especially tutorials on editing. Having said that, I'd love to have people send me their maps/scripts/tools and of course suggestions and criticism. www.spear-head.org/ofp I only started to re-work the site, but I'll have the main sections up and running by this weekend. So - if you have Armed Assault editing resources you think the community should have access to, feel free to contact me and I'll add them to the site. The forum has got to wait another month or two though, since I curently don't have a mySQL server, after that there will be a forum dedicated to editing as well.
