  1. You can upgrade your notebook card under rare circumstances. - It must be a real AGP / PCIe card. No onboard chip. - The power unit of the notebook must be sufficient for a stronger card. - Be aware that you might lose your warranty when you do this on your own. In most cases it is not possible to upgrade a card, and in the rare ocasions where it is possible it is very cost intensive and the performance you get in the end will still be disappointing. I do not recommend it.

    ArmA wont start...again

Pain-Less I understand you have a security software that, at some point asked you if you want to allow Securom, and you denied it to run, and now you think it might be blocked ? A little bit more info might help. What security software have you got installed. What OS do you run, what is the problem at all, what about your hardware specs ? And why do you post a completely different problem into someone elses thread .. I don't really care but it got me confused.

According to the Wiki, onboard ethernet controllers coming with Nvidia nForce chipsets may be problematic. It is suggested to use a different ethernet controller. @ Stabiz & Amatras: Can you confirm to have nForce chipsets with onboard ethernet controllers ?

    Hardlocks and bluescreens

Hey Fat Bob. You should be able to switch your Audigy card between game/entertainment mode somewhere in the options. Thinking about it, I doubt the entertainment mode can cause a bluescreen on startup though. I just checked out your Mainboard and .. it has got an nForce 3 chipset with AC97 sound onboard. This combination is known to cause troubles. I have an nForce 2 chipset and AC97 sound and suffered from the same problem like you.

    Church Windows

I agree to the above poster .. let's just keep that for Game II And on topic: You can simply shoot through the windows in the church tower. ( As you could in OFP already ). Too bad you make a perfect target while you can't see shit lol.

    Hardlocks and bluescreens

This is an example of a very well done support request. Should be made a sticky and used as template lol. But actually your specs are missing one vital point, and that is your mainboard type. And I think that might cause the problem. So I can confirm above posters thoughts. - Install recent chipset drivers for your IDE, AGP, GART, etc ... - Make sure to set the Audigy card to Game mode. - If both does not help, and you are by chance using a mainboard with onboard sound - disable it in the BIOS. *EDIT* If it bluescreens the next time, please note down the error code.

Driver Stop Error 0x0000007F on MP only

Now there's one thing now that makes me think "Not a temperature problem" .. that you are able to play the game in Singleplayer for a long time. So let's put that thought aside for a while. Maybe we get it solved before the first stable Arma 4 Linux release ^.^ I just read the Wiki looking up something for another MP connected problem, and it reports various issues with nVidia nForce ethernet controllers. So, do you have a mainboard with onboard ethernet from nVidia ? This could indeed be the hardware component that fails.

Locks up at "Wait for Host"

Wow .. what a charmin' lil door-knob you are. I can not find anything about "router" in my post. I said it seems like a firewall ( software firewall ) or antivirus program does it. Since you don't even say if you have something similar installed, I guess you are smart enough to figure it out on your own hmm ? *EDIT* Since you read all my posts ( admit it ) you know I am a generous person. So here's another wild guess !! Might be your nVidia ethernet controller itself. Try a different ethernet card.

I can only confirm I suspect an audio driver related problem as well. Try uninstalling and physically removing your midi card.

    help! - graphical issues

The above post is a must-read for the "medium-well-educated-Vista-users" who almost start to scream and stomp their feet when you tell them there is a difference between Vista and XP.
  14. All problems described in this thread are caused by HANDLING ERRORS. - You have applied 3rd party modifications to your game. - You have/had more than one Arma version installed - You have/had a demo installed and did not uninstall it properly - You applied a wrong patch version or tried to do so - You applied "no CD" patches - You had Antivirus programs running while patching the game - You have installed the game under a wrong operating system The first person to report this error with a clean Installation of WXP32, and with a correctly installed, and up2date patched game, without modifications, will win a cake.

1.05 don't works on my PC

I already said I misread the thing with the patch. And actually there is a huge difference between your game not starting, and your game crashing after 2 minutes. Trust me. - Does your game always crash at exactly the same point ? When the first splash screens go away and it will show you the menu with the water in the background ? - Did you do the test I suggested in my previous post ? *EDIT* I read all your posts again, and you simply confuse me. - Does your game run for 2-6 minutes now ? 6 Minutes means you can play sometimes ? No ? - You initially say it "won't start" 8 out of 10 times. Does that mean you can play 2 in 10 times without problems ? I'm getting a headache. You are not French are you ?

Locks up at "Wait for Host"

Wild guess: Firewall or similar program blocking execution of program operations that connect to the internet or allow incoming connections. Even certain antivirus programs might cause this. Your PC locks up because Arma tries to execute something, and the security software tries denying it at the same time and they use up all your system resources.

Driver Stop Error 0x0000007F on MP only

Source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/137539/ You may receive the following error message while running Windows: STOP 0x0000007F (UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP) CAUSE This error message can occur if either of the following conditions exists: • Your computer has hardware or software problems (hardware failure is the most common cause). • You try to over clock the speed of your computer's processor (for example, you set a 150 MhZ processor to run at 187 MhZ). The above STOP error means a trap occurred in kernel mode and the trap is either one the kernel is not allowed to have or is always fatal. The most common causes of a STOP 0x7F are: • Low-level hardware corruption, such as corrupt memory (RAM) • Mismatched memory modules • A malfunctioning motherboard To determine an approximate cause, examine the parameters at the top of the STOP screen: **STOP 0x0000007F (0x000000XX, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP The most important parameter is the first one (0x0000000X) which may have several different values. The cause of this trap can vary, depending on the value of this parameter. All traps that cause a STOP 0x7F can be found in any Intel x86 microprocessor reference manual as they are specific to the x86 platform. Here are some of the most common ones: Values Meaning ---------- -------------------- 0x00000000 Divide by Zero Error 0x00000004 Overflow 0x00000005 Bounds Check Fault 0x00000006 Invalid Opcode 0x00000008 Double Fault I think it's not vague. It says it is caused by faulty hardware, or a software applying incorrect parameters to the hardware drivers ( e.g. by overclocking a component ) *EDIT* - You report this problem in MP only. How long have you played SP without this error, and was this recently ? It is unlikely that this type of error is restricted to multiplayer, unless you have a defective ethernet controller. - Try making a burn-in test of your hardware components. Google for a free tool. It will tell you if your RAM, GPU or CPU cause the problem *EDIT 2* ( Didn't see your other post lol ) 0x00000000: Divide By Zero Error. The system made an attempt to divide a number by zero. Poorly written software or corrupted data in memory can cause this problem. This would narrow it in to RAM .. or poorly written software COUGH COUGH

1.05 don't works on my PC

I smell an overheating problem. Check FSB, CPU and GPU temperature and perform a burn-in test with Sisoft "SANDRA". Additionally, you should describe your problem better. First you say how the patch can not be applied, then you say how the game can not be started, now you say the whole PC restarts after a couple of minutes playing ( ?! ) *EDIT* Something got me confused about the patch. Sorry.

I can't confirm what the topic starter writes. You are much more concealed and less subject to detection when you are prone. ARMA on Vista 64 bit

Dear Topic starter. You have installed the game on a different operating system than the one stated in your game's system recommendations. Re-install the game on a WXP32 system and you will see how wonderful it works.
  23. First of all .. down with the Amiga guys .. I had an Atari 1040 STE !! I wanted to say that you can hardly compare the developement of a 120 Kilobyte game with ASCII graphics to nowadays games. Back in the days, games were not seldomly made by single individuals in a matter of weeks. And concerning the thread-title: 1) If you release a game in Beta stage, you get a bad review. Good so. 2) I think some magazines do indeed re-review titles that got an utterly bad critic initially, and are then "emergency patched". 3) I don't read game magazines anyways. They are full of shit. If I'm not sure if a game suits my taste, I get it from the videostore to play it a couple of days, and make a decision wether to buy it or not.

    Radar...

Actually I've been driving a tank in MP battles quite often, but I never saw a radar ? I know what sort of radar you mean from OFP. The square shaped box up center that allows for acquiring targets. Are you sure it can't be disabled in the servers difficulty presets ?

Winmm.dll error did you get it?

Actually it might matter. The ones on the Asus site for example are one year older than the ones on the Nvidia site. Not sure about Abit but worth a look ?
