  1. Yep, its that crackling problem causing yet another post. I can't figure it out, I'm getting horrible sound in OFP, especially viehicle noise. The prob doesn't show up in most apps but does with OFP and NFSHS. I didn't notice the prob before I loaded XP (I was running 98 before). I don't think its just an OFP problem, but it sure is a good place to find it. I've tried all the driver updates I could find and looked at every forum I could dig up, but still havent found a solution. Ahhrrgg! PATCH 1.30

Bummer. The only other thing I can think of (short of cd hardware failure) is that the game has a reg entry that is looking for the disk on another drive other than your cd drive letter (did you add another hd or partition?). Its weird that others seem to be able to fix the prob by reformatting and reinstalling. Brrrr.

    PATCH 1.30

Had you previously installed beta patches? Try uninstalling ofp (backup save games), deleting all ofp files, and reinstalling from CD. This will revert the game back to 1.20. Install 1.30 patch. Hopefully it helps ya.

Yeah, patches are the standard for PC games, and OFP is no exception. Fortunately, the patches for ofp have been great, making noticable improvements to an AWESOME GAME! Added content and fine tuning are what make PC games so much better than consoles. (Edited by DrRippeR at 6:59 am on Nov. 23, 2001)
