What do you think the Demo should have to best....
Correction replied to linx310's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Oh, I do. But to some people these things just mean nothing until they really see it for themselves. -
Wow, nobody is screaming or wetting their pants... I was just pointing that out since I noticed giZrM just joined and might not have heard about it yet.

I'm seriously hoping that the demo will at least contian enough map coverage to really express a sense of the massive world, as well as some vehicles and at least one or two air units. My reasoning for this is that I'm really counting on the demo to sell the game to a friend of mine who never played Operation: Flashpoint, and despite my excitement he is very skeptical because some of the screenshots don't look quite as "pretty" as some of the shoot-em-up games he's looking forward to. He sees Armed Assault as "just another military FPS." I just can't seem to effictively explain to this how much this isn't Counter Strike or Battlefield 2! -
probably not, most likely a week or 2 AFTER gold we'll see a demo We've been promised a multiplayer demo before release, and reassured multiple times that this is still the plan.
-
I voted for mainly singleplayer. I always buy games with multiplayer in mind, but then once I purchase it I discover how much I truely suck and end up having more fun with singleplayer.
-
Hopefully we'll get a demo in 15 days at the latest.
-
<3 I always use an m1911 addon in my Operation: Flashpoint custom missions.
-
You know what would be really neat is if the uniform textures were layered so that all cloth and other physical detail were irreplacable, but the cloth colors and patterns were customizable. It would be interesting to see players try to design the most effective camoflauge.

Well, there are 12 months. 12 / 4 = 3, so three months in each quarter. I would assume they should be consecutive... so I see no flaw in your reasoning.
-
Haha, that linked to some video of fish with a human-like face.
-
I was actually sort of hoping for the theme from "Gilligan's Island."
-
Steve should have swam back like a real man. Seriously, what kind of pansies do we have over there training Sahrani militia?
-
Publishers in the US are hard to come by because none of us dumb Americans are interested in anything that isn't ridiculously Hollywood-ized. No release date yet for the US. An online distribution has been confirmed, but no release date for that, either.

It's a wormhole in the internet.
-
Is anybody else seriously hoping for some specialized frogman-type units that can carry primary weapons into water as well as sidearms?
-
I just assumed the primary purpose of the blood "puffs" were to make it clear to the shooter when he hit his target, but I agree that they should be made more visually realistic.
-
Hopefully they've fixed the crosshair in third person view. It never aimed quite right in Operation: Flashpoint. I'm going to assume that most OPF fans never really cared since most of you are probably against crosshairs and third person views in a realistic game, but personally I always felt the third person view was justified in that it simulated a sense of your surroundings that you'd have in person, but can't see on a computer screen. Although, of course, I'm still a hardcore fan of iron sight usage.

Because it was incomplete and would be a misrepresentation of the final product. No offense to anyone individually, but people as a whole would tend to stupidly misjudge it based on its shortcomings. Remember that the purpose of a demo is advertisement, so they want to make it look good.

Those crazy Sahrani's sure like their eyeshadow, don't they?
-
Great video that "USforces". Now it's even harder to wait 3 months. I really hope that BIS would release the demo quickly to ease our pain. demo will be next month after czech release ArmA Where did you hear that? Haven't they promised us a demo before any gold release?
-
I guess that means no Navy SEALS...
-
It really is pretty painful seeing videos like these - knuckleheads getting their hands on the press demo before the public demo release.
-
Indeed, it seems to be the same laser designator that was released with OFP 1.46 - dRb I hope that when it's deployed it actually stands on its tripod in Armed Assault rather than being equiped like a shoulder-mounted weapon as it was in Operation: Flashpoint.

i assume grass will be disabled in MP, given that a 300ft diametre patch of grass moving across the terrain is pretty obvious to a human player observing. Grass rendering will be a clientside thing. It's not like your client is going to render circle-patches of grass around every player in the game. It only appears around the set radius of your character. It's good to hear that they plan to make other players less visible when hiding in the grass. I'm seriously started to suspect BIS of spying on me! Over the past few years I occasionally jot down notes of ideas for neat video game features that come to me, and it sure seems like they're stealing a lot of my ideas for ArmA!
