20 going on 21, I occasionally hit "the Flash" when my cousin and I play FLAGFIGHTGUNS on Nogova and get reams of laughs. I also play good ole OFP when I want to not get a random crash every 30 minutes...

They live in the bin in the weapons.pbo, if my memory serves me correctly. Â => Look in Addons. -
Any update/ Possible fix for this madness?
CameronMcDonald replied to keefehb's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I think the moral is to shy away from Vista for now. But I like it, so I'm staying here. -
Still waiting for Vista + 8800 results (Eric is having troubles, poor lad). Anyone?

20 going on 21, youngest, most useless Lieutenant in the ADF ever!

I'm not a US citizen, but I agree with 12thdamonkey - it seems the US just has too many guns, and public access to them (including assault rifles, heck, people can have their own mortars if they want) is all too easy. I'll risk going out on a limb by asking that in today's society, is the "right to bear arms" outdated? I always thought Michael Moore's (as much as I despise the biased leftist) comparison between gun-related deaths across countries such as the US, Canada and Australia thought-provoking; there's only so much that can be explained away along the lines of "oh, yeah, sure, the US has a bigger population." A crapload of people die from being shot in the US. I think something's wrong along those lines. Just my .02 AUD, don't kill me. <winces>

Still working it out myself, but I think it's mostly an 8800 driver issue, and the problem seems to be exacerbated with Vista. I get the bug whenever I put texture detail on anything above normal.

Any update/ Possible fix for this madness?
CameronMcDonald replied to keefehb's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
True, but does the problem remain? Even when you get out of the Stryker? I can't speak for Keefeh, but I know when I get the "Playdough Assault" bug, it stays (usually then joined by its stablemate, the "cannot create system texture" CTD). I found I had a very mild version of this problem when using XP and a ASUS EN6800GTO on my old system, but it went away. The Vista one doesn't solve itself like the XP one does. -

Seconded. -
Can someone with Vista and an 8800GTX please test this for me for playdough-LODs and/or "cannot create system memory texture" CTDs? I'd be eternally grateful. Â EDIT - Please put your settings on high when you do.

Nvidia BETA Fog Bug Driver Fix For 8800 Users
CameronMcDonald replied to Major Eyeswater's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Matt, I'm fairly sure the new public beta (as well as the US demo) has significant haze-handling improvements over v1.5. You should try it out on those, because I can get a nice looking ArmA with 10,000m viewdistance on v1.05.5143. Edit: Observe. v1.05 v1.05.5143 Beta Slight difference? -

Just so you know, ch_123, your sig has a grammatical error itself. -
If you're a Vista-ite, Matt, get used to it. Welcome to the party. It's either an 8800 or a Vista problem... or both, or one or the other. Either way, it's the highest cause of CameronMcDonald-related frustration in the world today, and I have Vista and an 8800. If you're using XP, try -maxmem=512 in the command line. Otherwise, hope BIS do something about it before the next patch, or hope someone releases a decent 8800 driver soon. God I'm bitter.

Quite liked it myself, it's not like I went to see it for the profound dialogue or provoking themes... ...though everyone in the cinema started laughing in the sex scene where the bloke was having a go at the queen from behind... says something about the Australian sense of humour?

Some info on Modern NVGs as used by US

Damnation, where are you flogging this stuff from? Though I'd prefer a Vista-fix meself, heheheh. -
Correct grammar forever! Nice one, Isight. Talk about plastic.
-
If so, you've got me there.
-
It's a script, I assume. Looks lovely, will be getting my claws on this soon enough.
-
Beware of the all-too-often occurring 8800 problem still bugging Armed Assault. If you're buying a system purely to play this game, I'd steer clear of the DX10 cards if the problem hasn't been fixed when Combat Ops shows up - it's quite irritating.
-
Erm, remember that the BRDM may have been using its KPVT, which is one of the largest calibre (14.5mm, in fact) machineguns in the world. Though it's never happened to me, I'll admit, and in real life I doubt even 14.5mm bullets would do diddlyshite on an M1.
-
Yeah, I fixed my Mk19's cyclic rates to be realistic, and you end up getting knocked over Strykers and HMMMWVs, which shits me but good. Anyone who finds a way to remove or at least reduce the recoil, could they please drop me a PM? The only solution I can think of at the moment is turning the Mk19 into an MG class, but that's crap.
-
You mean this? It's just a technology demonstrator. Nah, not that picture just all by itself, I found an official Army document (on the net of course) outlining the new system, and it was all based around Multicam. I think I was looking for ACU pictures at the time to make textures, but yeah, I was quite interested. I should drag it up again I suppose.
-
Doesn't seem to have much of a performance effect here while running Vista, not like it shouldn't though, since due to that evil system texture problem I can't run stably above normal texture detail. No crashes either, though.
-
Running the risk of being hit by whatever that USMC guy got hit by, I thought that the Future Force Warrior system was indeed based around the eventual acquirement of Multicam by the US Army. Not sure if that still stands however, not being a US citizen myself.
