Thank god mate, thank god, the missing loader's M240 is one of the most annoying things about ArmA... and you've fixed it. Cheers.

Just because the topic slips, it doesn't mean they've stopped work, mate. Relax! I could probably extend this to quite a few threads around here, in fact... -
Keep going mate, I wouldn't give up just cause someone else is making some. Yours might be better, who knows?

Advanced Combat Environment
CameronMcDonald replied to Exsosus's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Ever read Black Hawk Down or Thunder Run? Both non-fiction. Trust me, PG7s DO richochet and richochet often. I'm not talking about hitting a wall at 90 degrees and bouncing off, I'm talking about scraping a tank's front glacis, the top of a truck, side of a wall (or dumpster :P ) etc, then flying off and either dudding or blowing up somewhere else. The fact that they are effected heavily by winds is another reason for their horrible bounce profile (e.g. from hitting targets at points other than their detonators). -

PG7V warheads are also notorious for hop, skipping and bouncing off tanks, roadways and/or dumpsters. But yes, that's what I meant essentially, Homer. Ta. -
An interesting discussion here, methinks. For my 1/50 of an AUD, I've basically given up on this in ArmA, but was hoping that the introduction of upper-body mobility (e.g. reloading while moving) introduced in ArmA 2 (apparently) would somehow lead to the possiblility of bringing up/putting down/using binos while moving. EDIT - Poor maths.

Anyone else think royal flush stinks?
CameronMcDonald replied to skypine27's topic in ARMA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Yeah, I'm fairly sure the US release of ArmA had the original ending being arranged thusly: - SLAg troops dressed as RACS dudes massacred the civvies on South Sahrani in an attempt to discredit the royalist forces. This is seen where the player's squad comes under fire in the final mission from dudes wearing 6-colour desert (i.e. RACS) camouflage. Despite looking like RACS guys, appaz these are just disguised SLAgs. Hence the Rahmadi conflict is arranged correctly. Damn convoluted plot lines. -

Out of curiosity - did the mod have any success in replicating oblique and rear armour penetration of AT weapons as opposed to someone firing onto the front of the tank? What about AT richochets? -
Damnit, I bet that Insanoblan dude went into the future, saw this was going to happen, made a BIS forums account in 2003 and then saved his first post up for now. Crap. Erm, I'll gladly accept a gift of Episode 1, if k@voven doesn't mind... and noone's PM'd him first... @k@voven - note my post time.

That'd be nice, mate, since the Bravo and PKM feel like n00b c@nn0nz at the moment.

I would say probably not at this stage. SLI is an odd thingeh, tried it and didn't like it. Support has been scratchy from the start, and the performance doesn't really warrant you fishing out a wad fulla dollars since you won't be getting 2x performance, by any means. -
ACE Everon - BETA version -Read the details please

Just on an aside there, good job Q, I was looking forward to seeing your reply, and I had bet (albeit with myself) that you would go ape after seeing those replies. I probably would have. Kudos for not being an idiot and going nuts, good that cool heads prevail. As a "reward," I'm gonna try the island out. -
I quite like dodging RPGs, myself. At least you have a chance of dodging a PG7 winging towards you. It always spices up MP time when RPG contrails all pop outta nowhere into our perimeter.
-
Good stuff, mate. From what I see it looks gewd. Like Clav mentioned, perhaps in the gunner versions you should whack up some sandbags around the bag as "protection."
-
LOL - next they'll be telling us there's "gullible" written on the ceiling. Nice one lads, albeit harsh. Even I got excited for 5 seconds.

MIG 15 addon by Bdfy and Volksturm
CameronMcDonald replied to lee_h._oswald's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
A Mig17 would be good... Colonel Tomb, anyone? -
Looks good mate, please try and ensure the gun has realistic fields of fire (i.e. the gunner doesn't end up in the front seats facing backwards). Keep it up.

Couldn't resist. The next 5 seconds of the story, as performed by an actor portraying me, is below. SL McDonald Sounds good, though, very good. Though hopefully it won't end up clogging up the action menu with 12 BILLION actions. Can't wait! -
5.1 works beautifully for me and my Creative 5.1 speakers, nothing like cranking da music in the morning and hearing the laments of the neighbours, heheh!

@RobertHammer: Can I ask a favour? Can you please make M4 variants in addition to the M4A1s this time around? All it would take is config editing, just basically having the M4A1s but with burst and semiautomatic fire only. It's just that only SOCOM troops use the M4A1 (well, in the vast majority) whilst regular units utilise the M4. It's all about having ammo conservation amongst the regulars. Ta. All you'd have to do is make another config entry after the M4A1, with just altered firemodes, because the M4 and M4A1 look exactly the same.

I'll have a go. EDIT - Results are in. I get some distortion, by no means as bad as what you get, however, it's noticeable around the bottom left edge of the diamond, and is quite the gay. What I'd recommend, perhaps, is working on the texture in 2048x1024 and trying to keep it as sharp as you can - this may means you'll have to redo the PSD at that size to keep the sharpness factor. Soz mate, I wish things were different. Perhaps those with generation 9 cards could take a look at it, though I doubt there'd be much difference over what my 8800GTX could produce. I wouldn't be too concerned about the loss of quality there, I believe that the BIS Strykers look pretty good, and any improvement on them is certainly good in my book. EDIT #2 - Remember that having good specular and normal maps is also half the battle won. For example, you don't need to worry so much about the degradation of your "FUEL" writing on the fuel tank if you can make a normal map which shows the indent.
-
@ Chip, I meant to send you a PM today but had to attend a funeral - anyway I digress. What I wanted to tell you is concerning this quote from your hi-res texture thread: DO NOT do this - this will increase your section count, and seeing as the Strykers are likely to have many sections, this = shite performance. Use fewer and larger textures rather than having billions of small ones. Have as many polies as you like, but keep the number of sections to a minumum. I'll try and help you with your hi-res texture issue, since I have a good GFX card. Keep up the good work.

That temp is fine mate, my graphics card idles at 57 and goes to 63 under load. @Universal - case wise, Coolermaster Cosmos S or Stacker series, IMHO. Antec are also hard to beat.
