Ah crap, someone dragged me thread up again! Yeah, there's a replacement pack out there, here. Enjoy! And an update is in the pipes, it's just very very verrrrrry slowly being done. A couple of fairly major bugs (glowing goggles and squadleader funky legs) have been already fixed, and I intend to fix some aesthetic stuff too (DAPS *cough*). -
The problem, I believe, is that the QG Grenadier is mapped for use with one face and one face only, as with most/all of the QG mercs. As such, both the proper UV mapping and the face selection are incorrect for use with a different face. Tell your friend to delete the grenadier's head and use a non-QG model. He can keep the helmet and cap, etc, he just needs to get rid of the head, as it will be a PITA getting this face model to work with the standard ArmA faces as it is (and unless he's willing to re-UV map the head, it's not going to happen quickly).

LOL, as I much as I hate GRAW2 and the SCAR I will say that that was a pretty decent capture, "Scudman!" Also loving the Abrams. Was hoping my good friend "Boney The Skull" would make a return, a la M1A1. (Picture courtesy of King Homer 2008 © ) I might also ask at this stage whether the unit markings upon our good friends le tanks are randomised or not? -

I too am very interested in the nametapes, for obvious reasons. Sadly, SoldierIsNotHistory hasn't replied to my PM, probably cause he doesn't hang around here too much. Take a flip through the scripts and you'll see how they work. Quite ingenious really! -

A good spot... though I don't reckon these GB loons could last 2 rounds up against our SASR (or TAGs, god forbid), just quietly. I wonder if it will simply be an infantry simulator or whether there will be any diversification into vehicles, etc. From this article and the afore-mentioned information, methinks not. But from a purely infantry perspective, looks promising, I suppose. -

We've still got AI charging around corners without looking, damnit! I didn't see anyone lean, once. It essentially looked like ArmA with a new island. Now don't get me wrong, I've got all the best hopes and wishes for BIS' new game and also realise these videos are a pre-alpha build, but heck, if it's a new engine then why oh god why do they stick with the old and essentially flawed systems? - AI (seemingly) are still taken by the "madness" to run happily around every corner they find, regardless of enemy or not. - Vehicle entrance is still a matter of teleporting inside. These things have DOORS for a reason, you know! - ArmA weapons??? Can we at least have some animations on them, rather than perpetuating the hand-through-an-M203/M240/GP30/insert-large-weapon-name-here and wave-my-hands-and-voila-instant-reload bugs? I know I can only go off those videos, but man, I don't know what to think. I'll buy it sure, but damned if I won't be hardcore pissed off if at least one of these things isn't fixed. Also humourous to see that every weapon in ArmA 2 so far is an M16A4 ACOG GL.

Yeah, I've known of BIS' little tweak since the first MLODs came out courtesy of Synide. I agree with xnodunitx in that it was a part of their "arcadey" approach to attract more gamers and look a bit more FPS-y more than RS3ish, which, IMHO (and being a realism nutter) is disappointing to me. I loved the old screens of ArmA where the gun was really quite prominent. My current ACU dudes have the point in the center of the head to replicate equal left eye/right eye input, but I think I will shift it over the right eye because that view seems a lot more realistic IMHO, for the next update. EDIT - Wrong eye. -
Polygons aren't really the issue, I don't think. If he's using the BIS M240 and a suitable part of the M1 texture(s) remapped for the mount, then hopefully the section count will be kept low.

Slightly offtopic: I felt sorry for that poor bugger, that house was probably one of the things in his life he was proud of, and he built it with his own hands. I know I'd be pissed off, especially since the army that denied him a house was the same army whose tank later smashed through a corner of it. Weapons looking good Vilas. (Damn 3AM posts. )

I reckon so, hopefully. Be nice to see the standard NATO pattern ride once again ingame, haven't since Combat!'s gear in OFP. Btw, it'd be nice if you could take a look at the M1A1 made by NonWonderDog and see if you could adopt the ballistics improvements he made there in these tanks. You could make NWD and non-NWD versions, but that's just me. Good work, in any case.
