7900GTX/4200X2/2GB Ram, Will ArmA preform well?
Cpt Viper replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Indeed, Armed Assault is a modern game, and therefor newer rigs should perform better. Like it should be. -

You might want to check your PC, see if you got any rubbish on it, spy/ad-ware, virusses. The reason you might have game lag on the internet is because there are much more units on it than in SinglePlayer ? Also, I take it you're playing the game on a server, not hosting it, right ? Also, make sure all of your drivers are up to date, including your motherboard ones. On another note; OFP was more CPU/Memory intensive than Graphical I believe. Of course, graphics did play a role, but ArmA will utilize graphics much better than OFP. Looking at other people though, with lower specs, ArmA performs excellent. - Viper -
Those four videos are quite amazing. I think the animations look very fluid and smooth, which is a great thing.

If you look around and read what others say, watch some screenshots and look at the specs, you should know that your rig should perform just fine with an 7900GTX. Your processor, seems to be the 'slower' part. I don't know what motherboard you have, though, I take it a socket 939. - Viper -
The 6600GT has SM3.0 support. And you're right. High Dynamic Range Lightning (HDR) uses Shader Model 3.0. So does Depth of Field (DOF). - Viper

I can safely say that we are all very impressed by BIS' work. The user screenshots, the movies, are simply amazing. I so envy you, being a Czech. Can't wait till the release in Germany, got it pre-ordered there, I hope that sending it to me (Holland) just won't take long. I definately can't wait anymore.

Excellent stuff BIS, congratulations reaching Gold status. I just hope I get the game in time. (From Germany).

MyDogy, you shouldn't really compare videocards like that, you can't say that NVidia is better than ATI, or the other way around. It depends on how much money you have to spend, and with the amount of money look for the best card, either being ATI or NVidia. Oh, and the things like 'NVidia, the way it's meant to be played' is bollocks, just some commercial stuff they put in games. Like I said, just take the best card with the best performance for your money. My card is an NVidia GeForce purely because that was the best card for the amount of money I had at the moment. (ASUS 7600GT). Good luck.

@Telejunky Why should it be changed ? It's to be released in a number of countries in Q4 of 2006, isn't it ?

The Netherlands. (Nuenen, 2 clicks from Eindhoven). Ordering it in Germany, and when it's released here I'll also get it again, hopefully the special edition. - Viper

I'm getting Armed Assault from bol.de, thus ordering it in Germany. They should send it to me when it's released there, 30.11. Once the English version is out I might get that as well. Does anyone know whether the special edition will also be sold in English ? I'm Dutch, by the way. Thank you.

Personally I think the trees blend in quite well on the island, same colours and the shape fits well. The Berghoff trees look good too, but they're quite heavy little buggers.

Looking great Modul, keep up the splendid work. I'm a fan of your Modulsky as well. We're looking forward to see more work. Cheers.

I'm definitely going to order it from another country (Germany), and when it's released in Holland, I'll get it again, hopefully an English special edition, if not, I'll be fine with the normal (English) edition. Cheers.

Same here, I(/we) don't like respawning just for realism's sake. How realistic is it to come back to life after you have been shot ? The only way to properly use respawn is like using an air drop, or a visit by a choppers. Other than that, nah, no thanks.

I also saw, at the part where the truck was driving off with all the men in it's cargo, there was a shadow of the truck, but no shadow of the men. - Viper

Why not use 'Join In Progress' ? Get somewhere safe ie. your base or any other fortification and leave. Whenever you come back you can just jump right back in. - Viper

Conspiracies Part III: The Resurection
Cpt Viper replied to Sled88's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Sled88, In my post I was not trying to offend you whatsoever, I was just speaking out my opinion, which more people share with me, I think. Just as Gaia says, we prefer Quality over Quantity. As an example, take a look at the Inv. 44 team, they've been working on a single project for some years now. I bet they could of released small parts every now and then, but it's about the quality of your project, not how much you can produce in the shortest time as possible. Again, we do not express any anger towards you, we just give our personal opinion and the facts. - Viper -
Conspiracies Part III: The Resurection
Cpt Viper replied to Sled88's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Dear Sled88, I feel necessary to quote myself from an earlier thread/release by your team, and add something to it. What I mean to say is, stop making a new project every week, while the other is not yet done. You had/have a lot of projects running, some of them not finished, but you start a new project. It doesn't work like this. Please think about what I said. Colonel Viper Division Commander [23rd] Ground Division -
Sled88, don't get me wrong, I like your work, I really do, but I think you're a bit too enthousiastic. You've got several mods/campaigns running at the moment, I truly suggest to work on one only and start another once it's done. Nonetheless, good luck with this project. - Viper

I completely agree with Messiah. For a game like ArmA the bullet impact is not of major importance. But for a new-gen FPS, like Call of Juarez for example, where you fight in much, much smaller areas than OFP/ArmA, it is important. Well, not 'important', but it just adds up to the graphics. Games like Hitman may look much better, but as said, the levels are much, much smaller, so there's more performance for better graphics and physics. And, like Messiah also said, the crowd in Hitman is very basic AI, they don't have the full physics of the other characters, and therefor don't die as 'cool' as other characters. They don't kill your FPS for these reasons. - Viper

Very true xnodunitx, it wouldn't make sense. ArmA is looking absolutely great, and I hope BIS will release it soon, we've been waiting for it for so long. Or at least give us a European release date/demo. Oh, and welcome to the forum Zarkan, enjoy your time here. - Viper

Hah, It'll be more like a block falling to the ground with all that gear, indeed. Oh well, I guess we'll see. - Viper

I'd rather have the Evasive moves rather than autorun. And, as the name suggest (evasive, evasion (?) ), it's probably to dive away, to dodge incoming fire or quickly dive away so you won't be spotted. And why have Autorun ? If you could press a button and it makes you run forward without you having to do anything, you won't be alert. When you actually have your finger on the 'W' key, you are in the game, you are paying attention to your surroundings, you might get ambushed any second. At least, that's how I feel about it. - Viper

True, a buggy mod is not worth the money. Although .. It's Invasion44 .. What's their bank account ? Also I think I'm right to not call this a mod anymore, it's more likely a whole new game ! *Joins the list of people that can't wait.* - Viper
