I've done some extensive searching to find ways for administrators to protect themselves against Speed Hacks, Aimbots, and the most feared "OFP Super Cheat".
Though I haven't come up with a way to find out who exactly on a server is cheating here are things to look for.
Speed Hacks are easily detected not by the game itself but by the server administrator. If you notice a player moving up the field faster than what you think one should be able to move. Simply press "p" and watch how the time moves.. If a speed hack is being used it will speed up the time on the map. The map will end before it is supposed to. For example, if a player uses his speed hack the whole 30 minute game, the actual time that passes will be from 5 - 10 minutes. If you suspect a player of cheating don't automatically jump to conclusions, wait and see how quickly the map ends... If he is the only player you suspect of cheating, kick him. He can find a different server to play on.
Wall Hacks.. That is a little more difficult. Some players may edit .pbo files to make some buildings semi-transparent or completely transparent. Watch for modified files (although not all modified files are cheats). If you have some time, find a good place to camp (inside a building or something). If he comes in after you and there was no way he saw you go in... What else could it be...
Aimbots... This is a conjunction of file editing and outside programs (well for Operation Flashpoint at least). The player will edit camo to a certain color and have the outside program track it. Look for impossible reaction times... The Aimbot will usually kill you the instant you step out from behind an object. Sometimes a player can be waiting for you so don't automatically think he is cheating. Aimbot users will usually have an extremely high kill count and close to no deaths.. AIMBOTS DO NOT GIVE THE CHEAT USER THE TIME TO REACT AND NEITHER THE VICTIM, IT HAPPENS THAT INSTANT YOU COME INTO HIS VIEW, NO WAITING NO NOTHING, JUST DEATH.
The OFP Super Cheat is the easiest to detect and combat. I have found that it is not a program at all but it is just a bunch of file editing. Basically the Cheater is running a different map than what you are running and everyone else for that matter. You will notice odd things happening in the maps you play. Things that never happend before. For example, boats falling from the sky, buildings disappearing, bombs, everyone dying, a player running around with god mode, and the one that makes me laugh... When the choose a player, send him off the island in the middle of the ocean in a boat with no fuel ROFLMAO. The easiest way to combat this is simply change maps. Play a different map and the cheater's cheats will be useless..
Be aware of players will extended Player IDs but don't label them as soon as they connect. There are a number of reasons for an extended Player ID. Just be watchful.
Cheaters usually don't say anything when you are asking who is cheating... Look for the quiet ones and watch them...
Just because a player is good doesn't mean he is cheating. Just assume he is a legit player until something happens that proves it with no doubt.
I am still finding more cheats, and I will continue to release information about them, but if you are not part of the BIS Staff, I will not give you details.. I will tell you what you need to know about them but if you ask me to give you information and how to do it yourself, I will not reply...
