  1. I'm sure the team will open the addons up IF they should ever leave OFP.

Though I am not so sure about that, I doubt that anybody would ever know, if this mod leaves OFP and allowes public downloads.

btw: What is the use of this addon?

You can't include it in any mission available for public, because once the download from Team Yankee is impossible nobody will be able to play your mission.

    Just another screenshot addon?

Don't think so, because you would make the addon (at least portions of it - how it looks like) available to public, if you publish your screenshot.

And this is not allowed as quoted in the email sent by Team Yankee.

Can you use this addon for anything without breaking the license?

    About the copyright issues:

I won't comment on the fact, that this "license" is hidden somewhere in the download and the very rude emails sent to the newssites which did not want to break any copyright.

But I have my doubts that this license is really legal. If I remember the german law correctly (and Team Yankee seems to be German), a license must be accepted by the user. The users didnot even read the license before uploading it to the mirrors - how can team yankee believe that the license was accepted and therefore legal? Team Yankee has the make sure, the user knows the license.

If they wanted to make sure that this license is worth anything, why not to publish the addon with an installer? Usually you have to accept a license if you want to install something.

Just some kids who want to act like professionals?

  2. I'm happy with AF

There are still some bugs and issues but they are adressed and hopefully will be fixed.

The biggest improvement is that there are no mods.

Modders will never have a full overview of the game's source code and therefore will add bugs etc. to the game.

There may be some improvement by mods, but in the very long time of free mods no combination was ever as stable as AF is at the moment.

I don't need eye candy if I can play online without installing the game four times with differnent mods and setup which all will result in some CTD.

Stability is the most important thing, and AF runs better than ever before.

  3. Most Americans don't understand that the struggle is not Secularist vs. Religionist, that is only one facet. The real struggle is between the socialist left and the capitalist right.

That's late 19th early 20th century thinking. Take a look at Europe - market economy (i.e capitalism) combined with a strong social agenda. Works very well.

Quote[/b] ]I for one don't agree that communist and socialist speech should be protected. In fact is should be banned in the U.S.A. Can you say New McCarthyism. If only the Republicans could understand that but they wont.

    Are you serious? rock.gif

Well, if you are, you would have liked Germany around 1939.

Tell me a country in Europe with a working market economy combined with a strong social system!

From my own experience in Germany I can tell you this system is NOT working.

The stronger the social aspect is, the weaker the economy will be.

30 years ago there have not been that much social aspects is the system and it worked great. Today we are happy if our economy would grow at least 0.5 percent a year. Our government keeps telling us, it will, but they have been doing this for years.

But in the last 12 years more and more social aspects have been added and more and more people got unemployed, the economy is much weaker than it was and the social system is about to crash because of the weak economy.

Capitalism doesnot work if it is combined to a social agenda, it never did.

And a social agenda alone is not possible either. Look at the GDR

    Look at France.

It is not working much better there.

    __

You seem to be bad informed about Germany in 1939

According to Hilter, the worst thing was not communism or something like that.

The thing to destroy and the ones to kill were those who had a different race than the "good" German (Aryan).

Because of that he went after the Jews and because of that he hated (and a lot of Germans did too, some still do today) the Russians.

Of course, he hated the communism too and he thought it would be a great danger and therefore communism was forbidden.

  4. Quote[/b] ]Once the UN takes a political decision, they delegate the military operation to a military organization or country. For instance in Kosovo, NATO was running the show. In Congo, the EU is in charge - and on the Ivory Coast, France is.

What about the Middle east if they plan on sending Peacekeepers maybe one day here to you know either Iraq or israel/Palestine whos military command would it be in? Dont tell me its the US or Israel crazy_o.gif

I don't think the UN will even decide to sent "peacekeepers" to the middle East because it would not be in the interest of many contries of the UN.

  5. In my opinion, there are a couple of problems in the UN:

    1:

There are too many people involved in decisions. Therefore it takes too long to make decisions. Because of so many countries being part of the UN there are a lot of people who have different opinions. Sometimes it takes several days until all member states have spoken about how they want the others to decide.

And it will take even longer until most agree on a specific decision. In the most cases none of the member states gets exactly what they wanted. To make them all agree on a decision you will have to dilute the claims of all member states.

What is decided now is a compromise and not a strong position.

    2:

    The UN has no power.

It can decide something, but what will happen, if a country or a coalition of contries don't care about what the UN says?

There might be a resolution, but what if noone cares about this either?

The economic consequences are not too bad. You will always find somebody to deal with, regardless what the UN says. Maybe it will be harder, but not impossible.

And what if you are needed by the UN?

You can do whatever you want. The best example in the past years is the war in Iraq. The US/UK coalition was able to invade Iraq and nothing happened. There were a lot of anrgy people in the UN, but nothing else.

And if the UN manages to give a mandate, the "UN Forces" won't be too dangerous because they won't get a full combat mandate, but they will be some kind of peacekeapers who don't really care about what is going on, and if they care, it is days too late because decisions take a lot of time.

There are other problems like bureaucracy which are really bad too.

  6. Unfortunately, the more I think about it, the less I understand it.

The guy who lied to his people, made a huge campaign based on wrong facts to put fear into hearts of Americans and members of UN for his own agenda, never listened to people trying to show what was happening (remember Hans Blix and the huge denial campaign against him?), the guy that can't admit he did even a slightest thing wrong, this guy is elected for is moral values? If this is america moral values, it makes me puke.

first: A lot of people, even the German BND (intelligence service) did say that Saddam may have weapons of mass destruction and if not he was surely trying to get some. It was said that Saddam has mobile labs etc.

Still today it is not sure if he really had none.

So I don't think Bush was liying. I think he believe that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. And a lot of others did think so.

I think Bush did not the slightest thing wrong (perhaps the plan for after war Iraq was too optimistic, but who was really able to say what would happen after the war?) so what should he admit?

Furthermore he was elected not only for moral values.

And those who elected im for moral values did so because of his faith and his position on homosexual marriage, abortion etc.

And because they had reasons to believe he was better for the USA.

    puke if you want

But remember that those who voted Bush had their reasons

Even if you don't know this reasons, or can#t understand these.

  7. in germany church and state are seperated. You may believe it is a sin, but you cant declare it to be a criminal act!

Church and state are seperated in Germany (at least if you don't pay church taxes), this is correct and I never said they are not.

But I know there have been trails because of people saying that homosexuality is a sin! This doesnot happen very often and if you only say it in your church it might not happen, but it has happened before and it will happen in the future because there will always be people who don't accecpt homosexual marriage and say that.

    Quote[/b] ]

That is even more incorect! Oh by the way. When Cologne was bombed, life in Berlin continued as normal. When Berlin was bombed, cologne was peaceful.

    Nice argumentation!

Only a few terorists to fight against the US? hmmm, not bad for a few terorists to launch daily attacks, kill a dozen per day and keep the country unstable. Must be bunch of hell of well equipped Mofos then!

First: Please READ what I have written.

I did not write: Only few terrorist fight against the US..... If there were fighting the US they would bomb only the US, not mostly iraqi instiutions standing for the new democracy and freedom.

What is incorrect if I say that life in Iraq goes on as normal in Iraq at the moment for most people. This is what is happening there.

Of course the situation in Iraq is not stable in some regions at the moment because of daily terror acts, but it is still better that Saddam being in power.

  8. Here in Germany everything about Bush is said to be negative. I don't know a single person in Germany who believes that Bush is the better possiblity for America and the World. Some just hate America alltogether, because it is America, or they hate Bush because of the war in Iraq or because he believes in Jesus Christ or because of any other reason. Nobody says that Bush did at least one good thing in the past 4 years.

Some people (inculding some shows on TV) say Bush is not able to read. And there are a lot of other "funny" things you hear about the USA if you speak with young people in Germany.

But I don't think like that.

I support Bush because he believes in the same values (NO to homosexual marriage etc.) as I do. And I am happy that there are politicans who dare to support such values. Here in Germany you might be fined if you say that homosexuality is a sin in public.

Furthermore Bush is the better President for the US economy.

Bush made it possibile that there are free elections in Afg. and I am sure there will be free elections in Iraq too.

I think the Iraq War was not bad. Saddam was a danger to the world and he killed a lot of people useing weapons of mass destruction. Perhaps he had no weapons of mass destruction left when the war started, but I am sure the world is much safer with Saddam being in prison and having to pay for what he did.

The situation in Iraq today is not the best of course but it is better than Saddam being in power.

Today people have their own opinions and can say this in public. And the situation is not as dangerous than you might think first seeing the pictures of dayly attacks in TV. What TV does not show is that for most live goes on normal.

There are only a few terrorist who fight against the new freedom in Iraq.

  9. I think it depends on the situation.

In a COOP it is not necessary. You are not a Soldier who is alone somewhere in the battlefield but part of a team. And so, you should not feel empty. Work together with the other team mates.

You will see it is more fun than being a Ubersoldier.

I don't like unrealistic missions either, so I totally agree with your friend.

  10. I think Telekom is the best solution

Of course there are ISPs which are much cheaper, but Telekom doesnot block any ports and you usually have good ping times regardless where you live and how many other people in your area have DSL.

And 1024/128 is more than needed for playing OFP

  11. On a different note, I agree with Denoir: four more years of Bush would be disastrous for the US, but quite beneficial for the EU. First of all, it would loosen the already shoddy atlantic ties, thus allowing for more bold European-centered action. Take, for example, the creation of the European Gendarmerie Force or the EU-battlegroups. A sign of European-level cooperation that would have been rather unlikely until recently. Of course, the majority of the politicians involved are shitting their trousers in fear of upsetting the NATO, but it's a first step. Until recently, any supra-national military units outside the NATO would have been unthinkable.

Second, the economy. The EU is obviously becoming a better place to invest in at the expense of the US. The strengthening Euro isn't that much of a blessing though: it makes our exports more expensive and thus makes the EU less competitive. Also, do not forget that the US is a major market and a source of income of many EU companies. A weaker dollar means worse results.

Still, a more robust banking system and a population that does not believe in spending money before actually having earned it (have you ever seen a SINGLE debit card in the US?) are things to be satisified with.

to make one thing clear from the beginning:

    I am German.

    I disagree with your opinion.

Atlantic ties are a matter of the politicans who are in power.

Here in Germany you know that parties like the SPD and other left wing parties (B90:Grüne, PDS) don't like the US too much (and they did that for decades). On the other hand there are parties who like the US, and support them (CDU, FDP etc.). They are telling this the public now, and they did that in the past.

This didn't change with Bush becoming President or with the War in Iraq.

The reason for losening atlantic ties is that in most european contries there are persons in power who are well known as those who don't like the US. (e.g. in France and germany)

The idea of a European Gerdarmerie Force or EU armys is as old as the idea of an European union. I would not take that for a prove for anything.

A West European Defense Union (WEU - I don't know the exact translation into English) was founded ~50 years ago.

In the last years the cooperation in the EU didn't change very much in my point of view. Perhaps there are more results visible at the moment to the world-wide public.

The things you write about the economy seem wired to me.

The economy of the US grew much more in the last years than the EU overall economy. There are some smaller contries with a big boom, but overall this is not very much.

There is in my opinion no reason to believe that the EU is a better place to invest a single Euro that the US is to invest a Dollar.

  12. in Germany there are only few legal possibilties.

Even if you join one of the shooting clubs you won't get every weapon or ammo.

Hand guns and hunting rifles are the most dangerous weapons you will get in your hands.

Of course you won't get weapons with a big caliber.

    btw:

I think it is a bad idea to use your signature in a English speaking forum.

Those who don't understand German might think you are supporting Bush.

  13. but some scenes in the AOA video did not show high Angels Of Attack but a YF-22 in supercruise testing

Nitpicking here, but I'm sure it's not the YF-22 they're testing anymore

    [.img]http://www.f22fighter.com/f22comparison.jpg[/img]

    yf-22_supercruise.jpg

this is a screenshot of the AOA movie

It shows a YF-22 in supercruise testing

They don't test YF22s anymore, but nobody says this is not a very old movie

This scene was shown on a TV production years ago (I think it was first shown in 2000 or 1999)

  14. just a simple question:

Is it possible to join any of the US Forces if you are German (I don't care if I have to give up my German nationality (and I would be happy if I could)).
