Sad, but that's the risk any occupying force takes...quite frankly, I'm surprisd there hasn't been more incidents like this... I think as time goes on attacks on US forces are going to increase. Many people in Iraq are already unhappy with the occupation, and the longer coalition forces are there, and as long as long as the country doesn't have free elections, tension and anger in Iraq is going to increase. I would not be surprised if in time we see rebellions and widespread violence on a daily basis. The coalition need to make major moves to make the majority of Iraqis happy or they are going to have a lot of trouble.

Israeli child killed and two wounded in ambush by Palestinian militants-BBC It's really going to be a struggle to get peace when things like this happen. How long until there's an Israeli Apache over the West Bank tasked with taking out some militants along with some bystanders? Or do you think they'll keep their hands in their pockets to keep the peace?

AMD chips are rated like this: An Athlon XP2000+ doesn't mean the chip is 2000mhz. The chip is only something like 1700mhz, but the chip performs as well as a 2000mhz CPU made by another company. AMD's are great chips and you shouldn't have any problems with games. Just make sure you get a good heatsink and fan as they can run pretty hot.

Ex-Ronin, as you have a Nvidia logo in your sig I am going to assume that you are a 'Nvidiot' ( Â Â ) who has an undying love for Nvidia and that is why you suggested the crappy windblower that is the FX5800. The FX5200 is definetely dodgy so I would stay away from that. I like ATI cards so I will naturally suggest a Radeon 9xxx series card but in case you want to buy Nvidia, I would suggest this: If you don't want to spend big money, get a Geforce 4 ti4200. Good card that is nice and cheap. If you've got more money, get a FX5600 or a FX5900 when they come out. Or you could wait longer until the next generation of cards (the Nv40&R400) come out In other hardware respects, if you want to play Resistance fairly well, I would recomend a cpu of around the 2gig mark (or 2000+ rating for Athlons) but if you don't have the $ stick with the 1.8. In ram, I would suggest at least 512mb of DDR but once again, if $ are scarce, 512mb will suffice.

Don't you think that the last couple of images might break the rule on not showing any disturbing images? I really do think the conflict in Chechnya should be given more coverage but since September the 11th, bad press on the Chechen conflict have basically dissapeared. The media was probably told to shut up about it since the Chechen rebels can be classified as terrorists. Like I said in the ICC thread, I view the war there like I do with the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis. Both sides do horrible wrongs. Russians shelling civilian areas and Chechen rebels executing Russian prisoners. It's not good, but since there isn't much focus on it, it is likely it will drag on and on.

Extremely nice looking. Will be fun blasting Shermans with that 128mm gun. In WW2 a single Jagdtiger wiped out a whole Sherman platoon at a range of about 2km. Amazing vehicles.

There was a thread a while back but it might have been too long ago to kickstart it back into life. Chechnya is definetely a highly controversial topic. I view it with the same kind of feelings as I do with the whole Palestinian&Israeli issue. I think both sides do wrongs. I'm sure the ICC could find a lot of juicy cases from Chechnya as both sides have commited some very nasty war crimes.

Maybe Saddam escaped in his UFO along with his good buddy Osama and soon theres going to be a UFO hovering above the White House And with a cry of 'all your base are belong to us!' the White House will be turned to dust. Definetely the most realistic scenario yet

It would have to depend on what helmet the soldier is wearing. If it's a Kevlar helmet, I doubt it's going to have a mettalic 'ding'. If its one of the metal Russian helmets on the other hand then yes, it would ding. I would just like to add that I am very eagerly awaiting this super config as I think it will be a great moment in Flashpoint history and will equal and much better, more realistic and nicer looking experiance.

Yes, and make sure you get Paratrooper the Artillery Officer formerly of these forums on the line too so he can drop a 105 shell down Denoirs chimmney (although I doubt he has one living in an apartment). Rule Brittania and God save the Queen! (and the fascist regime ). On topicish: I think the 'occupation' of Iraq is not going to get much smoother too soon. If the US wants to stay in Iraq long term I think they are going to have to accept quite a few flag covered coffins going home in the coming years.

Sounds rather exciting, I'm getting more and more tempted to get back into the game. I believe it was the crashing that drove me off, but I think that was driver problems, still I will wait for the patch then I will jump back in and try to work out how to fly a plane into combat with full realism settings and not get wasted by a I-153.

I did the following poem for school a few weeks ago. In distant lands, people kill each other for money, power and land The whole concept is utterly insane, but it takes place all the same Young people sent to war for reasons that are filled with lies galore Soldiers born to kill, born to die, their families made to cry as their loved ones die Gunfire, shellfire, hellfire eat them up;at home those unaffected live removed form the carnage of war On the the television screen, a manipulated version of this is seen When people can only see from one side, it is easy for them to decide That what they are told is right, and the war alright It is all to the delight, of those who profit outright from the carnage of war Death and destruction all to the beat of wars drum Not the greatest, but my teacher liked it at least.

If there were no billions of dollars spend on military technology, then you wouldn't even have gotten to drive a M1A1 abrams tank in OFP... Never mind flying around in an AH-64 Apache in OFP.. Â The question is, could that money have been more wisely spent? Well, who cares! Funky military technology is cool. By the time I'm fifty I expect deathrays and stardestroyers to be in wide spread service

I should come up with some dodgy video tape just for the sake to serve you wrong, but regardless, there is footage it seems. I think this says it all. Pearse was first, but to save American national pride he only gets the title of first 'powered assisted flight' And lets leave it at that I think this thread has done some good, it has given us New Zealanders a chance to show the world our patriotic propoganda. On topic.... "I know nozink"

It's almost depressing reading about your flying accounts, because I'm such a bad pilot Your here talking about all these fancy manouveres and all these great kills you get, but unless I make the game unrealistic I cannot rival them. As it is, I haven't played FB for weeks. I'm waiting for the patch I tell myself... But I'll crank it up to watch the tracks posted so I can watch some good tangles between Tex and Tov(arish). You never know, I might learn something.

The key is to prepare for the next war, not the last one. If that war happens to be something out of Return of the Jedi, well, so be it. Â The other reason is so any third world country's military that is living in last century whose best MBT is a T-55 will get a severe flogging by your military that is living in the current century. Imagine is the US and British militaries still used the same equiptment as they used in the last 70's early 80's in the war against Iraq. It would have been a lot more equal. And yes, it is good to be ready for the next big war so if you find yourself confronting the the PLA in some funky battle armour outfit, you've got your own battle armour kit. If it wasn't for military technological developement, we'd still be cluddbing each other the head with crude melee weaponary. Instead we're taking down targets at 400m with a high powered assualt rifle or blowing up our enemies base form a 1000km away with a missile. Having said that, I'm not supporting spending billions and billions of dollars on experimental military technology when it's needed elsewhere.

If I remember correctly you guys have more use for a DIY fighter force Do you still have an airforce outside p3's ? Well err *cough* *cough* lets not go there alright? I think we might still have some Armachi (or whatever it is, Italian) jet trainers and I know we still operate C-130s, but for the country that had the first 'power assisted flight', we're not exactly up there with flying machines. We were going to buy about 27 F-16s but that deal fell through. Maybe we should be paying this inventor guy to make cruise missiles for the NZ Military so we still have some strike cabability

It can be a funny place, but a word of warning: Tell your friend to not f*ck with the armed offenders squad. If they think your up to some dodgy business, you'll find you door kicked in and a rifle in your face. On to the subject of what us crazy New Zealandeds will come up with next, I think maybe a garage DIY space shuttle could be on the cards

I have done a search and have found no topics on this subject so here I go: I think there is room for improvement in the case of the scoring system. For example: Your flying along in a fight with an enemy plane. You fire a burst of cannon fire which hits the enemy plane badly damaging it. The AI pilot hits the silk and the plane hurtles to the ground and explodes on impact. If you look at the end of the mission, you will not be credited with this kill and thus recieve no points. It appears that the enemy plane has to explode as a direct result of your weaponary to get points. The reverse of this situation is when you get credited with kills that aren't yours. Lets say your in an Apache flying at low altitude and you get hit. You don't explode but you lose power and drop from the sky. You either dont have enough time to bail out, or if you do your so low you die anyway. Regardless, the chopper explodes and you and your gunner are dead. If you look at the scores, you will be blaimed for your own death, the death of the gunner and the destruction of your helicopter leaving you with a score in the negatives. Maybe this only happens to me, but if not: I hope that BIS will be able to fix this problem so the scoring systme isn't so muddled
-
It could add more atmosphere to have journalists filming or taking photos. Just as long as they had good AI and didn't wander out into the path of fire... And having a cameraman unit in the mission builder would be good so you could go and film your missions.

I like my view distance to be between 2300 and 2600 with terrain detail on normal. I really don't like having a wall of grey appear out of nowhere a kilometre ahead of me.

One of my grandfathers units (British Army) landed on D-Day, but whether my grandfather was part of the invasion is not so clear. There are a few stories about what my grandfather did in the war. If you listen to my Nana, he got a swollen foot just before D-Day so he had to go to hospital then his entire regiment was wiped out at D-Day so my grandfather spent the rest of the war guarding POWs back in Britain, but then theres the other side of the story where he did go to Europe and was wounded (there is also another story where he tried to desert). When I went to see my grandfather last (about 2 years ago now) I noticed that he had a stack of 6 documentaries on D-Day so it obviously means something to him. Anyway... I honour those that participated in D-Day from both sides.
